Abstract

This study examines the effects of trust capital, philanthropic value chain integration, and management commitment on the sustainable value chain practices of Zakat Collection Institutions (LAZ) to optimize ZISWAF operational governance in Indonesia. Employing a quantitative correlational survey design and partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS 3.0, data were collected from a purposive sample of 186 key management and operational personnel in the Greater Jakarta region. The measurement model demonstrated strong reliability and validity for all indicators. Structural path analysis revealed that management commitment, philanthropic value chain integration, and trust capital each have positive and statistically significant effects on sustainable practices, resulting in a model with high predictive relevance. The findings offer a practical framework for LAZ administrators to improve intra-organizational synergy, optimize resource allocation, and utilize stakeholder trust to foster an accountable, high-impact charitable ecosystem. This research contributes novel insights by adapting conventional supply chain paradigms into a faith-based philanthropic value chain framework and by identifying trust capital as a direct operational antecedent to nonprofit governance.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effectiveness of community-based productive zakat management implemented by the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) in Bengkalis Regency and formulates strategies to optimize its implementation. A qualitative case study approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Analytical Network Process (ANP), involving 11 expert respondents comprising academics, BAZNAS stakeholders, and zakat practitioners selected through purposive sampling and pairwise comparison. The findings indicate that productive zakat plays a strategic role in community empowerment by providing business capital, enhancing entrepreneurial skills, and strengthening community collaboration. However, its implementation is constrained by incomplete mustahik data, limited literacy and trust among muzakki, and inadequate human resource professionalism. ANP results identify professional, trustworthy, transparent, and collaborative zakat management, supported by enhanced training, mentoring, outreach, and supervision, as the highest strategic priorities. The study suggests that community-based productive zakat has strong potential to serve as a sustainable policy framework for poverty alleviation, reducing social inequality, and supporting the long-term transformation of mustahik into muzakki. Theoretically, this study contributes by integrating empowerment-oriented qualitative findings with ANP-based multi-criteria prioritization, extending Empowerment Theory and the Islamic Social Finance Framework within the context of productive zakat in a coastal-agrarian regency. Practically, the proposed priority model offers BAZNAS Bengkalis and other zakat institutions a decision-support framework for allocating resources, mentoring, and supervision to maximize community empowerment outcomes.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to examine how religiosity, family environment, and motivation affect entrepreneurial interest mediated by self-efficacy among ex-Indonesian migrant workers in Tulungagung Regency. A quantitative approach was used in this research, collecting primary data through questionnaires from 135 randomly selected respondents. Data analysis was carried out using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method, processed with the aid of WarpPLS software version 8.0. The study reveals that religiosity and motivation have a substantial impact on self-efficacy and entrepreneurial interest. At the same time, the family environment does not significantly influence entrepreneurial interest through self-efficacy.

Abstract

Information technology has fundamentally transformed the economic sector, significantly accelerating the adoption of digital financial services, including mobile banking. In Indonesia, although mobile banking usage has been rising sharply, its adoption in Islamic banking remains relatively limited, with approximately 11.47 million users compared to 97.22 million in conventional banking. This disparity highlights a critical research gap. Given Indonesia’s leading position in the global Islamic finance Development index, it is imperative to investigate the factors influencing the adoption of Islamic mobile banking. Accordingly, this study aims to examine and analyse the determinants of intention to use Islamic mobile banking services. Data are collected from 302 respondents in Indonesia and analysed using partial least squares structural Equation modelling. This study finds that constructs within the UTAUT model, namely Performance Expectancy, Social Influence, and Facilitating Conditions, significantly influence Behavioural Intention to continue using Islamic mobile banking, albeit with small effect sizes. In contrast, Effort Expectancy shows no significant effect. The variables of e-Service Quality, Perceived Expected Benefits, and Perceived Cyber Security significantly affect Behavioural Intention. These findings provide empirical evidence on the key factors driving the continued use of Islamic mobile banking. The findings indicate that enhancing Perceived Expected Benefits is essential. Islamic banks prioritise their policies to ensure that all features are transparent and fully aligned with Sharia principles, optimise communication about the benefits of mobile banking, and strengthen their cybersecurity infrastructure to facilitate broader adoption within society.

Abstract

This study developed and evaluated the Halal Tourism Resilience Index (HTRI) across various destination types in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The paper employed the AHP method, involving three tourism experts, to identify 15 destinations in South Sulawesi. The study identified key patterns of resilience performance. The results showed that religious and cultural destinations demonstrated the highest resilience, supported by strong Islamic identity and leadership, while natural and man-made destinations demonstrated moderate resilience, limited by physical infrastructure and gaps in disaster preparedness. Meanwhile, educational and community-based destinations recorded the lowest resilience, largely due to limited institutional coordination and low economic capacity. The AHP findings highlighted that the Islamic Tourism Identity Sustainability dimension had the greatest influence (0.38), followed by Economic Vulnerability and Islamic Trauma Healing (0.17). Further quadrant analysis revealed that the level of resilience was not always proportional to the number of tourists, but inversely related to disaster exposure. The implications of the study suggest that enhancing Islamic governance, integrating disaster management, and strengthening value-based leadership are crucial for maintaining the resilience of the halal tourism system in Indonesia.

Abstract

Customer engagement has become a key strategy for sustaining long-term relationships between marketplaces and customers. Although gamification has been widely implemented by e-commerce platforms, limited studies have examined how SMART model-based gamification influences customer engagement, particularly among young housewives, who represent a significant segment of online marketplace users in Indonesia. This study addresses this research gap by examining the effect of SMART model gamification on customer engagement and contributes to the literature by extending the application of the SMART model within the context of marketplace gamification. A quantitative research design was employed using a purposive sampling method. Data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed to 100 young housewives aged 20–40 years who had played games on marketplace platforms at least once. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression analysis to examine the relationship between SMART model gamification and customer engagement. The findings indicate that SMART model gamification has a positive and statistically significant effect on customer engagement in online marketplaces. These results suggest that well-designed gamification features can strengthen customer interaction, participation, and loyalty. The study provides practical implications for marketplace managers by highlighting the importance of incorporating meaningful and engaging game elements to enhance customer engagement and maintain long-term customer relationships.

Abstract

The Regional Sharia Economic and Financial Committee (KDEKS) is a strategic institution at the regional level that plays a role in accelerating the development of the sharia economic and financial ecosystem, including Muslim-friendly tourism. However, as a relatively new institution, KDEKS still faces challenges such as weak cross-sectoral coordination, limited institutional capacity, suboptimal regulatory and budgetary support, and a lack of integrated policies for the development of Muslim-friendly tourism. This study aims to analyze the existence of KDEKS in the development of Muslim-friendly tourism in Indonesia and to formulate a governance strengthening model based on maqashid sharia. The study utilizes an empirical juridical method with statutory, conceptual, and theory-based approaches. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with three informants from the National Sharia Economic and Financial Committee (KNEKS), the Ministry of Tourism, and the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), as well as a literature review. Data analysis was carried out qualitatively through thematic grouping and legal interpretation using grammatical, systematic, and teleological methods. The results show that KDEKS plays a strategic role in strengthening inter-agency synergy, policy coordination, and the development of the halal ecosystem, although it still faces institutional and regulatory obstacles. This study offers a KDEKS governance strengthening model that integrates institutional governance, collaborative governance, and maqashid sharia, and recommends strengthening regulation, institutions, and cross-sectoral coordination to achieve integrated and sustainable Muslim-friendly tourism development.

Abstract

Influencer marketing has become increasingly important in shaping consumer responses; however, limited understanding remains regarding the conditions under which influencer credibility is more strongly associated with brand evaluations and purchase intentions, particularly in food-vlogger marketing. This study examines the relationships among influencer credibility, brand attitude, and purchase intention and investigates brand congruence as a moderating boundary condition in the Indonesian culinary context. Using a cross-sectional survey, data were collected from 150 consumers familiar with Nex Carlos and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that influencer credibility is positively associated with brand attitude and purchase intention, while brand attitude is positively related to purchase intention. Brand congruence significantly strengthens all three relationships, demonstrating that endorsement effectiveness varies according to perceived influencer–brand compatibility. At the dimensional level, trustworthiness and expertise exhibit stronger contributions to influencer credibility than attractiveness. Theoretically, this study integrates Meaning Transfer Theory, Source Credibility Theory, and the Match-Up Hypothesis by conceptualizing brand congruence as a boundary condition, thereby extending meaning transfer toward a conditional explanation of endorsement effectiveness. Managerially, the findings highlight the importance of selecting credible influencers whose expertise, identity, audience, and communication style align with endorsed brands.
