Abstract

The decline in dynamic balance often experienced by the elderly poses a high risk of falling. These six types of balance exercises can provide motor and sensory stimulation to the body. Motor stimulation provided in the form of muscle contractions can increase muscle strength so that it can affect dynamic balance, while sensory stimulation will improve proprioceptive function. Objective: to determine the effect of six types of balance exercises on improving dynamic balance in the elderly. Method: One group pretest posttest design with 30 elderly subjects aged 60-75 years who were given six types of balance exercises in each session was 20 minutes, 2-3 times a week up to 10 sessions. Measurement: Functional Reach Test (FRT) and Time Up and Go Test (TUG). Analysis: Normality test with Shapiro Wilk and pretest-posttest difference test with paired T-test. Results: Based on the analysis of the normality test with Shapiro Wilk on the pretest and posttest, the results obtained p>0.05 which means the data is normally distributed. Meanwhile, the analysis of the pretest-posttest difference test with paired T-test produced a dynamic balance value before and after six types of balance exercises of p<0.05 (p=0.000); and also produced a dynamic balance value before and after six types of balance exercises with TUG of p<0.05 (p=0.000). This means that there is a significant difference between before and after treatment when measured by the Functional Reach Test (FRT) and Time Up and Go Test (TUG). Conclusion: Six types of balance exercises improve dynamic balance in the elderly

Abstract

Menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) is a health problem often experienced by fertile women and can disrupt daily activities. The prevalence of dysmenorrhea in Indonesia is quite high, with 54.98% primary dysmenorrhea and 9.36% secondary dysmenorrhea. The use of natural ingredients such as ginger is a popular alternative because ginger contains high levels of essential oils and the chemical content of gingerol in ginger can block prostaglandins, thereby reducing pain during menstruation. Ginger is also readily available and inexpensive. This study aims to determine the effect of ginger water on dysmenorrhea pain in adolescent girls in the Danausipin sub-district of Jambi City. The research method used was a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-post test. The sample was 22 adolescent girls who experienced menstrual pain and were willing to be respondents. Menstrual pain was measured before and after ginger water administration using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). The results of the study showed that before the intervention, 50% of the pain scale felt was mild and moderate menstrual pain, after the intervention, 22.7% did not experience pain and 63.6% experienced mild pain. There was an effect of giving ginger water on reducing menstrual pain with a P value of 0.000. Ginger water can be used as an alternative natural treatment for menstrual pain

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) are among the most common diseases in the community and often require the use of antibiotics for treatment. However, inappropriate use of antibiotics can lead to antibiotic resistance, which is a global health problem. This study aims to analyze the patterns of antibiotic use in ARI patients at Koto Baru Health Center, Sungai Penuh City, during the period 2022-2023. This research is a descriptive study with a retrospective approach. Data were collected from the medical records of patients diagnosed with ARI at Koto Baru Health Center during the period 2022-2023. The information collected included the type of antibiotic used, route of administration, frequency of administration, and rationality. The data were analyzed to identify patterns of antibiotic use and their compliance with existing therapeutic guidelines. The study found that, based on gender, 72% of the patients were female. Based on age, 52% of the patients were 13-33 years old and 68% were 33-53 years old. A total of 87% of the patients did not have any comorbidities. The most commonly used antibiotic was amoxicillin, with 100% appropriate route of administration. The frequency of appropriate antibiotic administration was 84% in patients aged 13-33 years and 91% in patients aged 33-53 years. The rationality of antibiotic use was recorded at 85% in patients aged 13-33 years and 90% in patients aged 33-53 years. This study shows that the use of antibiotics in ARI patients at Koto Baru Health Center generally complies with therapeutic guidelines, especially in terms of the route of administration. However, there are some discrepancies in the frequency and rationality of antibiotic use that need to be addressed. Abstract

Medical records are essential documents that serve as a means of communication among healthcare professionals and form the basis for service planning, evaluation, and legal evidence within the healthcare system. The completeness of medical record documentation is a key indicator in ensuring the quality of healthcare services. This study aims to analyze the completeness level of outpatient medical records at UPTD Puskesmas I, East Denpasar District Health Office. A quantitative descriptive approach was used with random sampling techniques applied to 372 medical record files out of a total population of 5,251. Data collection was conducted using a checklist that assessed four main aspects: patient identification, essential reports, authentication, and proper documentation. The data were analyzed using univariate analysis. The results showed that the average completeness for patient identification was 67.3%, essential reports 95.38%, authentication 50%, and documentation 100%. Overall, the completeness of medical records has not fully met the established standards, particularly in legal and administrative aspects. This incompleteness may lead to serious consequences, such as errors in medical service delivery, weak legal accountability, and reduced quality of healthcare services. Therefore, this study highlights the need to strengthen internal supervision, conduct regular training for healthcare workers on proper medical record documentation, and implement routine evaluations to improve service quality and regulatory compliance

Abstract

Shampoo is one of the scalp care preparations used to clean dirt on the scalp and dandruff. Shampoo preparations with active ingredients made from natural ingredients have good effectiveness and safer safety compared to the use of shampoos whose active ingredients are taken from synthetic materials. One of the active ingredients comes from nature that can be used as a shampoo preparation, namely the sungkai plant (Peronema canescens Jack). Sungkai leaves have secondary metabolites, namely alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoid-steroids, and tannins. Flavonoids are secondary metabolites that function as antioxidants and antibacterials. The purpose of this study was to determine which one can produce the best formula for shampoo preparations from sungkai leaf extract (Peronema canescens Jack) and to determine the characteristics of the physical properties of sungkai leaf shampoo preparations (Peronema canescens Jack). Shampoo preparations were tested for organoleptic, pH, stability, foam height, viscosity and preference. The evaluation results obtained were analyzed descriptively. The results of this study in each evaluation test of shampoo preparations have met the requirements and good formulas, namely in formula 1.
