Abstract

Tax is the main source of income for the state to finance development and public services. However, public awareness of the obligation to pay taxes is still low. This is clearly seen in UPT Region VI of the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) of Medan City, which causes a low level of public compliance in fulfilling tax obligations. This study aims to explore the role of education in increasing public awareness of taxpayers, as well as providing recommendations that can be implemented by Bapenda in an effort to improve tax compliance in the area. This study uses a qualitative approach, with a literature review approach. The results of the study show that tax education is very important to increase public awareness of the obligation to pay taxes. The education strategy implemented by UPT Region VI Bapenda Medan City includes the formation of a field team, providing taxpayer notification letters, education about taxpayers, assistance in registering as taxpayers, assistance in paying taxes, and tax socialization

Abstract

Work-life balance (WLB) plays a crucial role in enhancing employee productivity in modern companies. This literature review examines how flexible work policies, stress management, and a healthy organizational culture contribute to work-life balance and their impact on individual and organizational performance. The findings indicate that work flexibility, such as remote work and flexible working hours, improves employee well-being and reduces turnover rates. However, without proper management, technology that supports work flexibility can increase workload and disrupt WLB. Additionally, stress management strategies and inclusive leadership support are key factors in maintaining long-term productivity. Therefore, companies must adopt a holistic approach by integrating WLB policies, mental well-being programs, and a supportive work culture to create an environment that fosters sustainable productivity.

Abstract

Revenue Agency. Restaurant tax is one source of regional income that has great potential in increasing regional original income (PAD). However, in its implementation, there are various challenges such as low taxpayer compliance, lack of supervision, and the effectiveness of the collection system that still needs to be improved. The research method used is a quantitative approach with secondary data analysis from restaurant tax revenue reports and interviews with related parties. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of strategies such as digitalization of the tax collection system, increased supervision and sanctions, and education for taxpayers significantly increased restaurant tax revenue. The data shows an increase in the number of registered restaurants and tax revenue from year to year after the optimization strategy was implemented. These findings support the theory that optimizing the tax system through a technological approach and increasing compliance can increase the effectiveness of tax revenue. Therefore, it is recommended that local governments continue to develop more innovative strategies to ensure taxpayer compliance and increase PAD sustainably

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of perceived service quality (Quality of Service) on consumer purchasing decisions at Skage Fried Chicken, with customer engagement as an intervening variable. In the context of an increasingly competitive culinary industry, it is important for companies to understand the factors that influence consumer purchasing decisions. Data were collected through a survey involving 100 students of the Management Study Program, Makassar State University who had made purchases at the restaurant. The analysis method used is Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS), which allows researchers to test the relationship between variables simultaneously. The results of the study indicate that service quality has a positive and significant influence on purchasing decisions, and customer engagement acts as a mediator that strengthens the relationship between service quality and purchasing decisions. These findings emphasize the importance of improving service quality to not only attract customers but also increase their engagement and purchasing decisions

Abstract

This research systematically explores the roles of Word of Mouth (WOM) and marketing strategies in mediating consumer loyalty and its impact on purchasing decisions for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) products. Applying a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this study synthesizes scholarly articles sourced from major academic databases such as Scopus, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and ProQuest, covering publications from the past decade. The selection of literature followed rigorous procedures including identification, screening, and eligibility assessments, with strict inclusion criteria to ensure the relevance and quality of the reviewed studies. The analysis reveals that WOM significantly influences consumer perception and trust, while well-implemented marketing strategies help establish long-term consumer engagement. These two factors contribute positively to consumer loyalty, which in turn plays a pivotal role in shaping purchasing behavior toward MSME products. Additionally, consumer loyalty is identified as a key mediating variable that reinforces the relationship between WOM, marketing strategies, and purchase decisions. The findings offer valuable insights for both academic and practical perspectives, particularly in designing relationship-oriented marketing approaches to strengthen MSME competitiveness.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies has triggered significant digital transformation across industries, leading to profound changes in organizational structures, workflows, and employee experiences. This study explores how employees in a tech company experience and adapt to AI-driven digital transformation. Utilizing a phenomenological research design, in-depth interviews were conducted with selected participants to capture the lived experiences of adapting to technological change. Thematic analysis was employed to identify recurring patterns, challenges, and strategies of adaptation. Findings reveal that while employees generally perceive AI as a tool to enhance productivity and decision-making, they also express anxiety regarding job security, skill relevance, and organizational communication. Key adaptation themes include continuous learning, collaborative work culture, and psychological readiness for change. The study is grounded in theories such as sensemaking (Weick, 1995) and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), providing a nuanced understanding of employee behavior in the face of digital disruption. This research contributes to the growing discourse on human-centered digital transformation by emphasizing the importance of emotional, cognitive, and social dimensions of change. Practical implications include the need for targeted change management interventions and leadership strategies to foster employee engagement and resilience. The study offers valuable insights for organizations navigating AI integration, ensuring that technological advancement aligns with employee well-being and organizational sustainability.

Abstract

Medical tourism has emerged as a significant sector in Indonesia's healthcare and tourism industries, driven by increasing global demand for affordable and high-quality medical services. However, effective health destination branding remains a challenge, particularly in leveraging digital narratives to enhance Indonesia's competitiveness in the global medical tourism market. This study explores the role of digital storytelling as a strategic tool in health destination branding, analyzing how online platforms, social media, and digital marketing shape international perceptions of Indonesia’s medical tourism offerings. Using a qualitative approach, this research examines case studies of leading Indonesian medical tourism destinations, evaluates existing digital branding strategies, and identifies gaps in current promotional efforts. Findings suggest that cohesive digital narratives—combining testimonials, expert endorsements, and cultural appeal—can strengthen Indonesia's medical tourism brand equity. The study offers practical recommendations for policymakers, healthcare providers, and marketers to optimize digital strategies, fostering trust and attracting international patients. By integrating empirical insights with branding theory, this research contributes to the growing discourse on destination marketing in the digital age, with implications for Indonesia's positioning as a competitive health tourism hub in Southeast Asia.

Abstract

This qualitative study examines the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into Human Resource Management (HRM) practices within sustainable companies in Indonesia. As the global focus on sustainability intensifies, organizations are increasingly expected to align their HR strategies with ESG objectives. The research aims to explore the current practices, challenges, and opportunities faced by companies in Indonesia as they seek to incorporate ESG into their HR frameworks. Using a multi-site case study approach, data was collected through in-depth interviews with HR managers, line managers, and employees, as well as document analysis (sustainability reports, HR policies) and participant observation. Three companies, including large organizations like Unilever Indonesia and Bank Mandiri, as well as green-tech startups, were selected for this study. The findings reveal that while there is a growing awareness and commitment to ESG, significant barriers remain, including limited resources, lack of employee engagement, and organizational resistance. The research contributes to the understanding of how ESG is shaping HRM practices in Indonesia and offers recommendations for organizations aiming to enhance their sustainability efforts through effective HR strategies.
