Abstract

In the era of Industry 4.0, the competition among companies has become increasingly fierce, prompting organizations to strive to maintain and develop themselves to achieve success. One of the key factors supporting the sustainability and development of an organization is human resources, which serve as a benchmark for success to achieve organizational goals. Using SPSS data analysis techniques with a path analysis approach, correlation tests, determination tests, simultaneous tests, and partial tests with a sample size of 75 employees, the results of this study show that leadership style, motivation, and work discipline significantly influence employee performance. Partially, only work discipline has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, while leadership style and motivation do not significantly influence employee performance but positively impact it. Furthermore, this study finds that work discipline has the most substantial influence on employee performance. The research used a saturated sample, which includes the entire population of 50 respondents. The quantitative method was applied, and the analysis used multiple linear regression, T-tests, F-tests, and classical assumption tests using SPSS version 25. The questionnaire employed in this research has been validated and tested for reliability. Based on the findings, transformational leadership style significantly influences employee performance, along with work motivation and employee discipline.

Abstract

This study discusses strategies for improving entertainment tax compliance at UPT Region VI Bapenda Medan City, which is an important part of the Regional Original Income (PAD). This study identifies the low level of entertainment tax compliance in Indonesia, which only reached 62% nationally and 55% in Medan City in 2022. Factors influencing non-compliance include weak supervision, low taxpayer awareness, and the complexity of tax mechanisms. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this study explores the impact of non-compliance and proposes a compliance model-based strategy that includes four levels: (1) "willing to do the right thing", (2) "try to, but don't" t always succeed", (3) "don't want to comply", and (4) "have decided not to comply". The proposed strategy includes improving services, education, and strict law enforcement. The results of the study indicate that a comprehensive approach that combines persuasive, educational, and repressive elements can create a fairer and more transparent tax system, as well as encouraging taxpayers' awareness of the importance of their contribution to regional development.

Abstract

Ethnomathematics integrates cultural practices with mathematical concepts, offering a contextualized approach to mathematics education. This literature review explores the role of ethnomathematics in improving students’ understanding of contextual mathematics by analyzing previous research on incorporating cultural elements into learning processes. The findings suggest that ethnomathematics enhances student engagement by connecting mathematics to real-life cultural practices, fostering critical thinking, and improving problem-solving skills. This approach helps make abstract mathematical concepts more accessible and meaningful, particularly for students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Moreover, it supports the preservation of cultural heritage while addressing the challenges posed by standardized and globalized education systems.Despite its benefits, implementing ethnomathematics faces challenges, including limited culturally tailored resources, insufficient teacher training, and difficulties in aligning with standardized curricula. Addressing these obstacles requires developing culturally responsive teaching materials and enhancing educators' familiarity with diverse cultural contexts. This review emphasizes the importance of ethnomathematics as an innovative approach to creating inclusive and equitable mathematics education. It also highlights the need for further research and practical applications to maximize its potential in preserving cultural identity and enriching mathematics learning experiences.

Abstract

The digitalization era has transformed the global economy and reshaped the labor market. This literature review examines the implications of digital transformation on economic structures and employment sectors. Key technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT), have accelerated business model evolution and enhanced efficiency across industries. However, these advancements have also disrupted traditional employment patterns by creating new job opportunities while simultaneously automating and eliminating manual labor roles. This study highlights the dual impact of digitalization: the emergence of flexible work through digital platforms and the risk of structural unemployment due to skill gaps and automation. Reskilling and upskilling are identified as essential strategies to prepare the workforce for evolving demands. Furthermore, governments and corporations must collaborate to develop adaptive employment policies and comprehensive training programs. While digitalization presents challenges, such as inequality and workforce displacement, it also offers opportunities for global connectivity, innovation, and economic inclusion. This paper concludes that leveraging these opportunities requires proactive strategies to ensure a dynamic and sustainable employment ecosystem.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of human resource management functions, namely recruitment, performance appraisal, and career development, on expatriates' adjustment in the new work environment. In the context of increasing globalization, many companies send their employees to work abroad, making adaptation to new cultures and work systems crucial to their success. Qualitative research methods were used with in-depth interviews with an Indonesian expatriate working in Romania as a room attendant. The results showed that mental readiness and social support from local coworkers play an important role in cultural, social, and occupational adjustment. Recruitment processes that consider the cultural readiness of potential expatriates have been shown to reduce the risk of adjustment failure, while structured performance appraisals provide constructive feedback to help expatriates understand company expectations. In addition, planned career development can improve expatriates' motivation and performance, although language barriers and less modern managerial systems in destination countries are major challenges in their career development. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the need for a holistic approach in supporting the success of the migrant workforce, including pre-departure training, continuous performance evaluation, and inclusive social support. Thus, companies are expected to design more effective strategies to facilitate expatriates' adjustment and improve their performance in the new work environment.

Abstract

Figurative language plays a significant role in enriching storytelling and enhancing the emotional impact of animated films. Wish, as a fantasy-animated film, incorporates various forms of figurative language to convey deeper meanings and strengthen the narrative. This study aims to analyze the types, meanings, and effects of figurative language used in the film Wish. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the research identifies and classifies different figurative expressions, including metaphors, similes, personifications, and hyperboles, within the film’s dialogues. The findings indicate that figurative language serves multiple functions, such as character development, emotional engagement, and thematic reinforcement. Moreover, it enhances viewers' comprehension and emotional connection with the story. The study also highlights how figurative language contributes to the moral and philosophical messages conveyed in the film. The results suggest that the creative use of figurative language in animated films not only improves aesthetic appeal but also aids in effective communication with audiences, particularly children. This research provides valuable insights for linguists, educators, and filmmakers on the importance of figurative language in cinematic storytelling. Future research can further explore audience reception and cross-cultural interpretations of figurative language in animated films.
