Abstract

This study conducts a critical-comparative analysis of Tafsir Al-Manar and Tafsir Al-Maraghi, both of which share the Adabi Ijtima'i (Social-Cultural) style, to uncover the root cause of their differences ('illat al-ikhtilaf) in responding to modernity. Using a qualitative approach with the muqāranah (comparative) method and content analysis, this research examines methodological aspects and substantive interpretations of three key verses: Q.S. Yunus [10]: 100 (reason), Q.S. An-Nisa' [4]: 59 (politics), and Q.S. An-Nisa' [4]: 34 (family). The findings reveal that despite sharing a basic style, the two commentaries exhibit systematic divergence. Al-Manar, dominated by bil ra'yi (70%) and an Islahi-Siyasi (Reformist-Political) tendency, produces transformative and polemical responses. In contrast, Al-Maraghi, dominated by bil ma'tsur (60%) and a Tarbawi-Ilmi (Educational-Scientific) tendency, produces stabilizing-educative responses. This study concludes that the primary 'illat al-ikhtilaf lies in the interaction between the Tsaqofah al-Mufassirin (the intellectual-institutional framework of the exegetes) and their historical context. Al-Manar, a product of Salafi-Activist Tsaqofah in the Early Modern era, advocates for transformative-political tajdid (renewal). Meanwhile, Al-Maraghi, a product of Azhari-Institutional Tsaqofah in the Middle Modern era, advocates for stabilizing-educative tajdid. Thus, this study not only maps the differences but also contributes to the science of tafsir by introducing Tsaqofah al-Mufassirin as an analytical framework and two models of renewal (tajdid) born from the Adabi Ijtima'i style.

Abstract

Gender mainstreaming and child protection are fundamental principles in the implementation of regional governance based on the constitution and laws and regulations. Wonogiri Regency, as part of the regional government system, has a constitutional obligation to integrate gender perspectives and the best interests of children into every regional policy. This article aims to analyze the implementation of gender mainstreaming and child protection in Wonogiri Regency regional policies from the perspective of Constitutional Law, and to identify their conformity with the principles of the rule of law, regional autonomy, and the protection of human rights. The research method used is normative legal research with a legislative approach and a conceptual approach. Data were obtained through a literature review of relevant laws and regulations, legal doctrines, and regional policies. The results of the study indicate that gender mainstreaming and child protection in Wonogiri Regency have normatively obtained an adequate legal basis, both at the national and regional levels, but in practice still face various obstacles, including weak coordination between regional agencies, budget constraints, and the suboptimal integration of gender and child protection principles in policy formulation and implementation. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the commitment of regional governments, harmonize regional regulations, and effective constitutional oversight so that gender mainstreaming and child protection can be implemented optimally in accordance with the principles of Constitutional Law and sustainable development goals.

Abstract

Neo-Orientalism, as a new form of epistemic colonialism, continues to shape the representation of Malay Islam in Indonesia and Malaysia through narratives of marginality, essentialism, and Western global discourse hegemony. This study conducts a comparative analysis of intellectual responses by key figures in both countries to this knowledge hegemony. In Indonesia, Nurcholish Madjid and Abdurrahman Wahid employed critical accommodation strategies by Islamizing values of democracy and pluralism. Azyumardi Azra engaged in epistemic negotiation by reconstructing historical networks of ulama to reject the “peripheral Islam” narrative. In Malaysia, Chandra Muzaffar negotiated critiques of Western bias in human rights discourse, while Syed Naquib al-Attas promoted radical epistemic resistance through the Islamization of knowledge based on adab and tawhid. Haedar Nashir in Indonesia rejected the “moderate vs radical” categorization as a neo-Orientalist project. The analysis reveals that Malay Islam is not anti-modernity but actively Islamizes modernity. Differences in strategies reflect national contexts, yet their synthesis forms an alternative civilization model that is tolerant and cosmopolitan. This research proposes a decolonization model for Malay Islamic knowledge that integrates accommodation, negotiation, and resistance for an independent scholarly future. (198 words)

Abstract

Existing literacy programs are often partial and rely on external funding, rather than the village's internal potential. While some villages tend to prioritize physical development, Slogoretno Village prioritizes human resource development through literacy. This effort aims to ensure the community understands village programs and receives comprehensive information, not just through word of mouth. This raises the need to analyze the effectiveness of an integrated and sustainable literacy model. This study aims to analyze the comprehensive implementation of the PELITA EMAS (Literacy Education and Community Education) Program in improving community literacy in Slogoretno Village. Specifically, this study aims to analyze how literacy innovations are disseminated and accepted using the Diffusion of Innovation Theory framework. The analysis uses the Diffusion of Innovation Theory (Everett Rogers), focusing on five innovation attributes (relative advantage, compatibility, etc.) and the role of communication channels. The method used is qualitative. Data were collected through interviews and observations with the Village Fund implementation team and the community as innovation adopters.The research results show that PELITA EMAS has successfully disseminated four main literacy innovations: Science Literacy (cocoa grafting training to produce superior seeds), Financial Literacy (early savings training for PAUD and MSME management), Digital Literacy (socialization of Digital Population Identity/IKD), and Reading Literacy (development of digital libraries and TPA/TPQ). The successful adoption was driven by clear relative benefits for the community (for example, superior cocoa and ease of IKD) as well as the role of effective Interpersonal Communication Channels from external parties such as the presence of KPM/KKN students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini melakukan analisis komparatif-kritis terhadap Tafsir Al-Manar dan Tafsir Al-Maraghi, yang sama-sama bercorak Adabi Ijtima'i, untuk mengungkap akar perbedaan ('illat al-ikhtilaf) respons mereka terhadap modernitas. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode muqāranah dan analisis konten, penelitian ini menganalisis aspek metodologis dan penafsiran substantif terhadap tiga ayat kunci: Q.S. Yunus [10]: 100 (akal), Q.S. An-Nisa' [4]: 59 (politik), dan Q.S. An-Nisa' [4]: 34 (keluarga). Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa meskipun berbagi corak dasar, kedua tafsir menunjukkan divergensi yang sistematis. Al-Manar, dengan dominasi bil ra'yi (70%) dan corak Islahi-Siyasi, menghasilkan respons yang transformatif dan polemis. Sebaliknya, Al-Maraghi, dengan dominasi bil ma'tsur (60%) dan corak Tarbawi-Ilmi, menghasilkan respons yang stabilisasi-edukatif. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa 'illat al-ikhtilaf utama terletak pada interaksi antara Tsaqofah al-Mufassirin (kerangka intelektual-kelembagaan) dan konteks historisnya. Al-Manar, produk Tsaqofah Salafi-Aktivis di era Modern Awal, mengadvokasi tajdid transformatif-politis. Sementara Al-Maraghi, produk Tsaqofah Azhari-Institusional di era Modern Pertengahan, mengadvokasi tajdid stabilisasi-edukatif. Dengan demikian, studi ini tidak hanya memetakan perbedaan, tetapi juga berkontribusi pada ilmu tafsir dengan memperkenalkan Tsaqofah al-Mufassirin sebagai kerangka analitis dan dua model pembaruan (tajdid) yang lahir dari corak Adabi Ijtima'i.
