Abstract

The digital era has significantly transformed various fields, including Islamic studies. This study explores the dynamics of Islamic studies in the digital age, highlighting the challenges and opportunities faced by academics, students, and Islamic educational institutions. With the rise of digital connectivity, access to Islamic knowledge has become more widespread and easily available through online platforms, social media, and learning applications. However, alongside these advancements, challenges have emerged, including the spread of inaccurate information, potential distortion of Islamic teachings, and the rise of superficial understandings of Islam. This study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing literature analysis and in-depth interviews with experts in Islamic education. The findings indicate that while issues related to the validity and authority of knowledge sources remain significant, the digital era also presents valuable opportunities. These include fostering global collaboration, expanding access to Islamic education for broader communities, and developing more interactive and innovative learning methods.

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the integration of technology in Islamic boarding schools through Rahman's concept of thinking to adapt to the times. Fazlur Rahman criticized Islamic education which is limited in understanding the Qur'an and Sunnah, and emphasized the importance of ethics and curriculum improvement. Technology in Islamic boarding schools can improve access, learning resources, and student involvement. The flow of information encourages the search for truth, including in Islamic religious education. The method used in this paper is a literature study, with data collection through understanding and reviewing theories from various relevant literature. The data analysis technique uses document analysis which not only records information, but also understands the hidden meaning in the document carefully and critically. The results of this paper show that Fazlur Rahman emphasizes the balance between maintaining Islamic values ​​and adapting to technology in Islamic boarding school education. He applies technology integration to improve learning without sacrificing the idealism of Islamic boarding schools, with a healthy environment, competent educators, and preservation of Islamic moral values. This approach allows Islamic boarding schools to produce a generation that is faithful, intelligent, and ready to face digital challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the Asbabun Nuzul works by Al-Wahidi and As-Suyuthi in understanding the historical context behind the revelation of Qur'anic verses. Al-Wahidi and As-Suyuthi are two prominent figures in the tradition of Qur'anic exegesis who have made significant contributions to the development of the science of Asbabun Nuzul. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, this article compares the methodology, structure, and relevance of these works in contemporary exegesis studies. The findings reveal that Al-Wahidi focuses more on concise and chronological narratives, whereas As-Suyuthi incorporates broader linguistic and historical analyses. This study concludes that both works complement each other in providing a comprehensive understanding of the background of Qur'anic verses.

Abstract

This study provides an Islamic assessment of the effects and consequences of playing the lottery in Akwanga, Nassarawa Eggon, and Wamba, Nasarawa State, Nigeria. Recently, there has been a global surge in lottery and betting activities, with Nigeria experiencing significant growth in this sector. Akwanga, Nassarawa Eggon, and Wamba are no exception, as many Muslim youths actively participate in these games of chance despite Islam’s strict prohibition. This phenomenon is partly attributed to the high unemployment rate in the country. Using a qualitative approach, the study collects primary data through interviews and focus group discussions with lottery players, Islamic scholars, and community leaders. The findings reveal that lottery and betting activities have severe economic, social, and moral consequences, contradicting Islamic teachings. The study concludes that Islamic principles and values can serve as a framework for understanding the negative impacts of gambling and promoting alternative forms of economic empowerment and social welfare. The study recommends collaboration between Islamic scholars, community leaders, and policymakers to raise awareness about the dangers of gambling and to promote Islamic values as a solution to economic and social challenges. Additionally, it suggests that the government impose heavy taxes on gambling, betting, and lottery establishments in the study area to curb the spread of this practice.

Abstract

Peace and security have been central concerns of humanity throughout history. In contemporary times, instability and violence have become major global challenges, particularly in Nigeria, where conflicts and insecurity threaten national cohesion. This study explores the role of Islamic education in promoting peace, security, and national unity in Nigerian society. Given the increasing prevalence of violent attacks and socio-economic instability across the country, there is a growing need for effective solutions that address these challenges from their roots. Islamic education, with its emphasis on justice, morality, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence, offers a viable approach to fostering stability and social harmony. Using a qualitative methodology, this study employs a literature review and expert interviews to examine the relationship between Islamic education and peacebuilding. The findings indicate that when properly implemented, Islamic education can serve as a powerful tool for reducing violence, enhancing social cohesion, and strengthening national stability. The study underscores the need for integrating Islamic teachings on justice, discipline, and community engagement into educational policies and programs to address the root causes of insecurity. The study concludes that Islamic education, when effectively utilized, has the potential to promote peace and national cohesion in Nigeria. It recommends that policymakers, educators, and religious leaders collaborate to enhance the role of Islamic education in addressing the country’s security challenges. Additionally, efforts should be made to incorporate Islamic principles of peace, justice, and tolerance into the national educational framework to foster long-term societal stability.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital media has revolutionized the methods of delivering Islamic teachings, particularly in the realm of da’wah. Podcasts, as a versatile and accessible digital medium, have become increasingly popular for disseminating religious knowledge. This research explores the development and utilization of podcasts as a means for conveying Sirah Nabawiyah (the biography of Prophet Muhammad) through the "Basyiroh Podcast" by the Indonesia Siroh Institute. The study employs a qualitative approach, focusing on content development, production challenges, and the effectiveness of podcasting as a da’wah tool. Through an analysis of the production process and audience engagement, the study highlights the integration of educational and entertaining elements in the podcast's format, making it accessible to diverse audiences, including housewives and the younger generation. Findings indicate that the podcast has successfully leveraged the YouTube platform to engage listeners with high-quality content, balancing the complexities of media production with the need for accurate Islamic teachings. Furthermore, this research emphasizes the challenges faced in maintaining content accuracy, technical production standards, and team coordination. The Basyiroh Podcast, by enhancing accessibility and interactivity, contributes significantly to modern da’wah practices. The study concludes with recommendations for further exploring the impact of digital media in da’wah and the potential of podcasts to reach broader audiences in the digital age.

Abstract

Students today need alternatives to rekindle Islamic values and education. Fostering Islamic values and education is not only carried out through formal educational institutions but can also be done through printed media such as literary works like novels. This research focuses on using novels as a learning medium in the context of Islamic educational values. The researcher chose the novel "Janji" because it contains numerous Islamic educational values embedded in the characters' dialogues and narratives. "Janji" by Tere Liye, rich in Islamic educational values, offers deep insights into Islamic principles that can be applied in daily life. Therefore, the researcher connects it with the relevance to students at Pondok Pesantren Mahasina Darul Qur'an Wal Hadits. The objectives of this research are: (1) To identify the Islamic educational values present in the novel "Janji" by Tere Liye; (2) To understand the depiction of Islamic educational values in the novel "Janji" by Tere Liye and their relevance to students at Pondok Pesantren Mahasina Darul Qur'an Wal Hadits. The data collection techniques used in this research are interviews and documentation. The chosen data analysis technique is qualitative descriptive analysis. The research findings based on the Islamic educational values in the novel "Janji" by Tere Liye include: firstly, the values of Aqidah, which cover faith in Allah, faith in angels, faith in the holy books, faith in prophets and messengers, faith in the Day of Judgment, and faith in divine decree and predestination; secondly, the values of worship; and thirdly, the values of morality, which include praiseworthy and blameworthy morals. These values also align with the relevance to the students at Pondok Pesantren Mahasina Darul Qur'an Wal Hadits

Abstract

Water is a fundamental resource vital for sustaining life and supporting diverse activities such as agriculture, industry, and electricity generation. Despite its abundance, Nigeria faces significant challenges in water preservation and utilization due to factors such as public apathy toward government resources, insufficient maintenance of water infrastructure, industrial pollution, and inadequate collaboration between the government and private sectors. This study, grounded in Islamic teachings, aims to explore effective strategies for addressing these challenges while highlighting the moral and ethical imperatives for responsible water management. The research adopts a descriptive and literary methodology, drawing insights from relevant texts, journals, and online resources. Islamic principles of accountability, collective responsibility, and sustainability provide the framework for analyzing and proposing solutions. Findings reveal that poor sanitation, insufficient investment in dam infrastructure, and lack of administrative commitment exacerbate water-related issues in Nigeria. Moreover, public awareness and adherence to Islamic values, such as avoiding wastage and prioritizing communal welfare, are essential for ensuring long-term solutions. The study introduces a novel approach by integrating Islamic teachings with contemporary water management practices, emphasizing the role of ethical leadership and communal collaboration. It concludes that fostering private-sector engagement, expanding water infrastructure, and cultivating public awareness through Islamic values can significantly enhance water preservation efforts. These strategies, when implemented effectively, not only address Nigeria’s pressing water challenges but also contribute to sustainable development and societal well-being.

Abstract

Dhikr mentioning and remembering Allah is not only commanded by Allah and His Messenger, but will also bring direct benefits to everyone who is dhikr. Whoever the person is and under any conditions, dhikr will have a positive impact. Dhikr will give peace to the public just like what a kiyai and ustadz enjoy. Dhikr will soothe a hard man's heart just as it soothes a gentle woman's heart. When people dhikr, God will be close to them without limits and status. However, many ta'lim assembly worshippers are not motivated to dhikr. It is often found that there is a lack of understanding of the congregation for the concept of dhikr in depth. This causes the dhikr to be less meaningful and does not have a significant impact on their spiritual life.This research aims to determine the role of the Book of Lubab Al-Hadith in improving the understanding, motivation, and quality of dhikr of the Ta'lim Al-Wustho Assembly. The research method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques are carried out through in-depth interviews, participant observations, and documentation. The data obtained was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results of the study show that the Book of Lubab Al-Hadith has an important role in increasing the understanding and motivation of the Ta'lim Al-Wustho Assembly congregation in dhikr. The congregation's understanding of dhikr has become deeper, their motivation to dhikr has increased, and the quality of their dhikr has improved. This has a positive impact on the spiritual life of the congregation, which can be seen from the increase in peace of mind, closeness to Allah SWT, and enthusiasm in worship. This research makes a significant contribution in understanding the role of the book of hadith in improving the practice of dhikr and spirituality of Muslims. The findings of this study can be used as a reference for ustadz, ta'lim council administrators, and researchers in developing a more effective dhikr coaching program.

Abstract

This study examines the marketing communication strategy employed in developing Bayt Al-Qur’an Al-Akbar, a unique religious tourism attraction in Palembang renowned for its world’s largest and most exquisite wood-carved Qur’an. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research explores the application of the marketing communication mix—advertising, sales promotion, public relations, publications, and direct marketing—in enhancing visitor interest and engagement. Additionally, this study analyzes the role of key influencing factors, including government and private sector support, human resources, infrastructure, and budget constraints. The findings reveal that while Bayt Al-Qur’an Al-Akbar possesses significant potential as a religious tourism destination, challenges such as limited promotional efforts and insufficient collaboration with related sectors hinder its optimal development. To address these issues, the study recommends strengthening human resource capabilities, expanding digital marketing initiatives, and improving infrastructure and accessibility. By implementing a more comprehensive marketing communication strategy, Bayt Al-Qur’an Al-Akbar can further solidify its position as a prominent religious tourism landmark, attracting both domestic and international visitors.
