Abstract

Connectivity justice is designed as an integrative mechanism for adjudicating criminal offences jointly committed by legal subjects falling under both general and military jurisdictions. In practice, however, the splitting of case files, or splitsing, in civilian-military mixed cases may transform connectivity from a unifying procedural forum into a merely declaratory norm with limited operational force. This article examines why splitsing may negate the ratio legis of connectivity justice, particularly in relation to equality before the law, due process of law, and the unity of criminal liability. The research applies a normative juridical method with descriptive-prescriptive analytical characteristics, using statutory, conceptual, and case approaches. Legal materials are collected through library research covering legislation, court decisions, doctrine, journal articles, books, and contemporary case materials. The article argues that splitsing in mixed civilian-military cases cannot be treated as a purely technical prosecutorial instrument because it affects forum allocation, evidentiary coherence, public access, and the construction of criminal responsibility. The novelty of this article lies in proposing a “limited-priority connectivity model”, which requires a connectivity trigger test, a dominant-interest test, joint case assessment, and written reasoned justification before any case splitting may be undertaken. This model is necessary to prevent splitsing from becoming an instrument of jurisdictional fragmentation.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of the learning environment and learning media in fostering students' interest in IPAS (Natural and Social Science) learning among fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Werwaf. The background of this study is the condition of an elementary school in a remote area with limited facilities that is still required to implement the Merdeka Curriculum. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects were 14 students, one teacher, and the principal. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis employed the Mile & Huberman, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The results showed that: (1) the learning environment at school, comprising physical, social, and psychological dimensions, positively fostered students' learning interest; (2) the use of contextual learning media, particularly realia and the natural surroundings of the school, significantly increased students' active engagement in IPAS learning; and (3) the reciprocal relationship between a conducive learning environment and varied local-based media was key to developing students' interest in learning. This study concludes that creativity in optimizing the local environment as a learning resource can effectively foster IPAS learning interest even in schools with limited facilities.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the performance of three Artificial Intelligence platforms, namely Gemini, Poe, and Quillbot, in identifying Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) defects including porosity, slag inclusion, and incomplete penetration. The analysis results show that there are significant differences in performance between the three platforms in terms of identification accuracy and consistency. Gemini shows the best performance with the highest agreement value (r-value) of 0.491, although the significance value (p-value) obtained is still relatively low. On the other hand, Quillbot has the highest p-value of 0.325 which indicates better prediction accuracy, but the ability to detect all defects is still limited. Meanwhile, Poe shows the lowest performance with a negative r-value indicating a discrepancy with expert assessment standards. These findings indicate that the use of AI has the potential to increase objectivity and efficiency in welding learning evaluation, although it is not yet able to completely replace the role of expert judgment. Therefore, the ideal AI model is one that has a balance between prediction accuracy and detection capabilities to support a more optimal evaluation system.

Abstract

The enactment of Law Number 20 of 2025 on the Indonesian Criminal Procedure Code marks a substantial transformation of investigation and coercive measures. On the one hand, the new Code strengthens suspects’ rights, broadens pretrial review, requires at least two pieces of evidence for suspect designation and several restrictions on liberty, and provides more explicit safeguards for vulnerable groups. On the other hand, the catalogue of coercive measures is expanded to include suspect designation, arrest, detention, search, seizure, interception, examination of correspondence, blocking orders, and travel bans, thus preserving a broad space for state intervention into individual liberty. This article applies normative legal research with a descriptive-prescriptive analytical character, relying on secondary legal materials through library research and employing statutory and conceptual approaches. It argues that the central problem of the new Code does not merely concern the existence of rights-protective norms, but the consistency of judicial oversight over investigative discretion. By examining Constitutional Court Decision No. 21/PUU-XII/2014, contemporary pretrial practice on suspect designation, and the oversight architecture of the new Criminal Procedure Code, this article proposes an integrated judicial oversight model based on legality, necessity, proportionality, written reasons, judicial authorization, post factum review, exclusionary rules, and effective remedies. The model is necessary to ensure that the expansion of coercive powers does not reproduce crime-control dominance, but moves toward substantive due process of law.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of oversized coalitions in Indonesia’s multiparty political system and their implications for the function of opposition in democracy. The main focus of this research is to analyze how political pragmatism influences the formation of broad governing coalitions and its impact on political ethics and the quality of democracy. The phenomenon of oversized coalitions reflects the tendency of political parties to prioritize strategic interests and access to power over ideological consistency and political ethical principles. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach. Data were collected through library research and documentation from various sources, including books, scientific journals, reports from international institutions, and relevant political documents. The analysis was conducted by examining the relationship between political pragmatism, the formation of oversized coalitions, the weakening of opposition, and the decline in democratic quality. The findings indicate that oversized coalitions are capable of creating political stability and strengthening governmental effectiveness in the short term. However, on the other hand, such conditions weaken the function of opposition as a mechanism of checks and balances. The dominance of large coalitions reduces oversight of the government, decreases the quality of political competition, and increases tendencies toward party cartelization and elite political consolidation. This phenomenon also contributes to democratic backsliding, characterized by declining accountability, transparency, and the quality of public deliberation in democracy. This study concludes that oversized coalitions are not merely a matter of political strategy, but also an issue of political ethics that affects the sustainability of democracy. Therefore, strengthening the role of opposition, revitalizing political ethics, and reinforcing mechanisms of power oversight are necessary to ensure that democracy functions substantively rather than merely procedurally..

Abstract

This study aims to describe the manifestation of liberative ethics in selected short stories published in the 2023 edition of the Kompas daily, through the perspective of prophetic literature as formulated by Kuntowijoyo. Liberative ethics is understood as an effort to emancipate human beings from alienation and oppressive, unjust social structures. Employing a descriptive qualitative method and content analysis techniques, this study examines five short stories that embody a spirit of resistance against social, economic, and cultural constraints. The findings reveal that liberative ethics in the 2023 Kompas short stories is reflected in the characters’ courage to challenge injustice and their efforts to break free from hegemonic power structures that restrict human dignity. This study concludes that prophetic literature remains relevant as a critical instrument for social critique within contemporary Indonesian literary discourse

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the non-communicable diseases (PTM) that has become a serious health problem in recent years and is often referred to as a “silent killer” because it frequently occurs without symptoms. Hypertension is generally found in older adults; however, several studies have shown that it can also occur in adolescents, with its prevalence increasing in recent years. Many individuals are not aware that hypertension occurring during adolescence may persist into adulthood and increase the risk of morbidity and mortality. The aim of this literature review is to analyze the influence of various risk factors on the incidence of hypertension in adolescents. This study is a quantitative study with an observational approach using a cross-sectional design. The population in this study consists of students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Abulyatama, particularly cohorts 2022, 2023, and 2024. The results of this study show that the characteristics of respondents are predominantly female (71%) compared to male (28.9%). Most respondents are classified as IMT Obesity I (35.22%). The distribution of blood pressure shows that the majority of respondents are in the pre-hypertension category (59.74%), followed by normal blood pressure (25.78%), hypertension stage I (11.32%), and hypertension stage II (1.25%). There is a tendency that respondents with overweight and obesity IMT are more likely to be in the pre-hypertension category, indicating a possible relationship between increased IMT and the tendency of elevated blood pressure in adolescents and young adults. This suggests that medical students are already in an early cardiovascular risk phase that has the potential to develop into hypertension if early prevention is not implemented.
