Abstract

This research aims to develop the MoIP-ST (Momentum and Impulse ProblemSolving Test) instrument to measure students' problem-solving abilities according to the stages of problem-solving skills. The research method used is 4). The research participants were 64 students, consisting of 32 rural and 32 urban 10th-grade students in East Java, who were randomly selected. The first analysis is a multi-rater Rasch measurement based on the results of expert validation, which indicates that item I1 needs improvement. The second analysis is the analysis of the MoIP-ST instrument using the Rasch model, which shows that overall the items on the MoIP-ST are valid and reliable with a Cronbach Alpha of 0.87. The third analysis is the use of the MoIP-ST, which shows that the problem-solving ability of rural students is lower than that of urban students. Student problem-solving needs to be improved through models, methods, learning models, and teaching materials that support problem-solving.Keywords: test instrument, problem solving skills, physics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' creativity through the C-R-E-A-T-E learning model in a blended system. Voltaic Cell was chosen as the material studied because the process of making Voltaic Cells can support the development of students' creativity. The research method used was Design Based Research (DbR). The research instrument used was a creativity observation sheet according to William's creativity indicator and an assessment sheet for students' creative products which included three main skills: creating, investigating, and problem-solving skills. The results of this study indicate that the step-by-step C-R-E-A-T-E learning model implemented through a blended system supported by Google Classroom can develop students' creativity, both in terms of creative processes and creative products. It was shown from the observation results of students' creativity on the indicators of fluency, flexibility, elaboration, originality, and evaluation each included in the very good category. In addition, the average score of students' creative product assessment is also in the very good category. These results indicate that the learning model is feasible to be applied in learning as an effort to develop student creativity. Keywords: students’ creativity, the C-R-E-A-T-E model, senior high school. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1673-1682

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the item characteristics of the mathematics problem-solving ability test instrument using the Classical Test Theory model. The data collection was based on the results of the test documentation as many as 359 students with dichotomous data. Qualitative validation analysis by experts uses the panel method, and quantitative analysis uses the Aiken index and Content Validity Ratio (CVR), while quantitative validation uses biserial point correlation. The test reliability index used the Alpha-Cronbach method. The results of qualitative validation show that all items correspond to the indicators of solving mathematical problems, but technically writing a few items needs improvement. Quantitative analysis using the Aiken index and CVR shows all items are valid with good validity. The reliability of the test is stable, with a coefficient of 0.83. Then, the test instrument consists of items with very difficult, difficult, and easy levels. All items were able to distinguish the test taker's ability and the effectiveness of the distractor to function correctly. Keywords: classical test theory, biserial point correlation, validity, reliability. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v22i1.pp98-111

Abstract

The achievement of high school graduates' competence is continuously improved by the government in Indonesia, one of which is by implementing the Minimum Competence Assessment. The main problem in its application is the limitations of similar problem models provided in classroom learning so that students are not accustomed to solving them. The purpose of this research is to produce mathematical reasoning questions using the Minimum Competence Assessment model for junior high school students that are valid, reliable, and have a potential impact. This research is development research with two stages of developing Tessmer’s model, namely: (1) Preliminary and (2) formative evaluation stage, which consists of self-evaluation, prototyping (expert reviews and small group), and field tests. The trial subjects of this study were 25 students of class VIII Bengkulu state junior high school 7 in Bengkulu City. The results of the study obtained questions that met valid criteria with an Aiken index each of which was more than 0.5. The questions meet reliable criteria with a count of more than 0.6 and are in the high category. The questions have a potential impact with sufficient students' selection abilities on average and students giving a good response of more than 50.00%. The suggestion from the research is that the teacher encourages choosing a real context to present the problem in mathematics learning. Keywords: development research, instrument test, mathematical reasoning, minimum competence assessment.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1515-1526

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe and analyze the mistakes made by students when working on math problems in statistics material. This research was conducted in class VIII SMPN 4 Siak Hulu, with 10 students as research subjects. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive research. Data collection techniques are using tests, and unstructured interviews. The results showed that: 1) there were 4 types of errors, namely conceptual errors by 30%, fact errors by 4%, procedural errors by 14%, and technical errors by 10%; 2) there are 5 indicators discussed related to statistical material, namely indicator 1 (Determining the average value of a data), indicator 2 (Analyzing data), indicator 3 (Determining the median of even data), indicator 4 (Determining the mode value of a data), indicator 5 (Determining the values of the first, second and third quartiles in group data). In the fifth indicator, only 3 out of 10 students were able to answer correctly or 30%, this is the indicator with the lowest percentage of the five indicators; 3) the cause of student errors is the lack of student understanding of the prerequisite material for that solution in order to overcome similar errors, namely by always checking student understanding regarding prerequisite material before starting the lesson and choosing appropriate learning methods and strategies so that students can easily understand the material being taught.. Keywords: students’ error analysis, statistics learning, junior high school students. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i2.pp1827-1838

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze the effectiveness of the website-based Project Based Learning approach to improving students' critical thinking skills and science process skills. The design of this study was a quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group design in which the experimental and control groups were selected randomly. The instruments used to measure critical thinking skills are test questions while the instruments used to measure science process skills are test questions and observation sheets. The results of the study show that learning before and after Project Based e-Learning has increased by 9.8%. The increase in students' critical thinking skills is caused by the use of Project Based Learning where this model can make students play an active role in solving problems, making decisions, researching, presenting and creating documents. The application of Project Based eLearning to class V science material has experienced a significant increase. This is shown by the results of hypothesis testing where the sig (2-tailed) value is 0.00 (p <0.05). The increase in science process skills occurs because Project-Based learning can support participants in developing their creativity in designing and creating projects that can be used to solve problems. Keywords: project based learning, critical thinking skills, science process skills. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1598-1609

Abstract

This study aims to develop MATHCA (Multiple Math Card) learning media in multiplication material of elementary school grade III. The background of this research is that there are no learning media in the form of cards that have been developed specifically by combining a learning system with a game in the form of cards. The method used in the Research and Development (R&D) uses the method Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation (ADDIE) model. The subjects in the study were third-grade students of SD Negeri 1 Cisantana, Cigugur district, Kuningan Regency. The result showed that media MATHCA was very valid base on the calculation result of media experts, with an average score of 98%, material experts with an average score of 92%, and linguists with an average score of 92%. The result of the practicality test of teachers obtained an average score of 90%, and the results of trials conducted in small groups obtained 96,6%, and in large group, trials obtained a score of 91,1%, this indicates a high level of practicality category in both groups. Thus, it can be concluded that MATHCA learning media that was developed using the ADDIE model is valid and practical to be applied to mathematics learning. Keywords: development model, learning media, ADDIE, multiple math card. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i2.pp712-722
