Abstract

Student’s Perception of Using Online Learning Environment in Writing Class During Pandemic Covid-19. This study aims to analyses students’ perception of using online learning in writing class during pandemic covid 19. The method used in this research is descriptive The subject of this research was 51 students of English Education Study Progra which only took in semester 2 and 4. The result of this research in indicator of students’ participation with mean score 3,68 in high category. In indicator effect of online learning with mean score 3,67 in high category. In indicator teacher’s role as facilitator with mean score 3,61 in medium category. In indicator of social context with mean score 3,72 in high category. Abstract

Teachers' Instructional Planning and Design for Learners in Difficult Circumstances. Objectives: This study examined teachers' practices, planning, and creating of educational materials for all students facing challenges. Methods: The study used phenomenology research to evaluate teachers' planning and design processes. In this study, eight teachers were interviewed in depth. The researchers used coding and theme analysis to interpret textual patterns. Findings: Making instructional resources that are appropriate for your teaching style and your students' skills and situations requires a lot of thought and planning. The teachers' thoughts were as follows: Content and distribution, resources and context, technological integration, adaptability and flexibility. Conclusions: New teaching methods that are more sensitive and flexible to student needs are greatly beneficial. Abstract

The objectives of study were meant to perceive the impact of videotext on reading fluency over MALL in remote area student. Nonetheless, the writing is moderately simulating the concurrences with the impacts of videotext, drained of any current methodology investigating the impacts of videotext as a part to small participants reading intercessions. Methods were quasi-experimental, non-randomized pre-test and post-test design with 60 students over remote areas and interview case study plan as testimonial with six pseudonyms contributors. along with comparation of two intercession correspondences to one another. Well-separated of all participants scores mark. Findings demonstrated moderate to effective impacts for the two intercessions across all members, with little distinction betwixt the two instruments. Abstract

Boosting Student Engagement Through Project-Based Learning with Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction Motivational Design Process. Objectives: This research aims to boost the students' writing ability and motivation by changing the teaching methods from classical (lectures and discussions) towards student activity. Methods: The method used in this study was the Project-Based Learning (PJBL) model with Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction (ARCS) motivational design. The case study used observation, questionnaires, and interviews in two stages of [A1] [p2] data collection for a English course class, namely English for Art and Design in the Visual Communication Design Study Program. The case study conducted from the beginning to the end of learning was carried out for one semester. Findings: By implementing the Project-Based learning method with ARCS motivational design, it is found that student motivation in the Attention, Relevance, and Satisfaction aspects is at a high level. Meanwhile, the Confidence aspect remains neutral in stages I and II. Abstract

Teachers’ Questioning Strategies to Promote Students’ Engagement in EFL Classroom: The case of Islamic Boarding Schools in Aceh, Indonesia. Objective: The present study aims to investigate the use of questioning strategies during classroom interaction. There have been numerous studies on questioning strategies, however, Islamic boarding schools have received less attention. Method; There were N=106 students, Aged 14-16 years as students at Islamic boarding schools in Aceh, and English teachers (N=5) participated in this study selected through purposive sampling, documentation, observation, and interview are triangulation of instruments. The data were analyzed by using the descriptive qualitative form by Marzano's Observational Protocol Sheet (2013). Findings: The findings revealed that teacher mostly employs questioning strategies to check the students' knowledge and comprehension in the learning process by using many kinds of questions. Teachers used the questioning strategy through interview results to engage students and monitor the extent to which they met the learning indicators. Furthermore, when it happened to come to promoting children's critical thinking, teachers were ineffective because the questions were yes/no questions. In conclusion; it explicitly means that this strategy is interactive and effective and also can be a beneficial way to the students and teacher in the classroom interaction at school. Keywords: questioning strategies, Islamic boarding school, classroom interaction.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v12.i1.202207

Abstract

Blended Learning Based on Heutagogy as a Determinant of Student Engagement in Islamic Education. Objective: Blended learning by prioritizing a heutagogical approach in Islamic Education needs to be analyzed to determine the potential for successful student engagement. Methods: Therefore, this study classifies, regresses, and predicts the determinants of the interaction of 128 students in a literacy project using three indicator variables; discussions, presentations, and publications. Findings: This study found an f value of 85.79 +/- 5.83 (micro average: 86.27) with positive class completeness at an accuracy of 80.71% in classification analysis with a decision tree, f value 80.33% with an accuracy of 72.86%, and classification error of 27.14% in predictive analysis with Naïve Bayes, and the significance of t count 4.713 > t table 1.97912 in regression analysis with SPSS. Conclusion: This study concludes; that (1) discussion determines mastery in heutagogy learning, (2) discussion activities have a positive effect on understanding in heutagogy learning, and (3) discussion determines engagement in completing assignments. Keywords: blended learning, heutagogical, Islamic education, student engagement.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v12.i1.202230

Abstract

The Development of Impulse and Momentum E-Module with Authentic Learning in Cooperative Learning Model Syntax. E-modules should be able to accommodate a learning syntax that supports student activity. Therefore, the general objective of this research is to produce an impulse and momentum e-module product containing authentic learning in the cooperative learning model syntax, as well as describing its feasibility. The type of research is research and development used  the ADDIE model within 17 students. Data obtained through instrument used is e-module validation sheet, student response questionnaire, and learning outcomes test. The results showed that: (1)  validity of e-module scored by 3.25 categorized as valid, (2) practicality of E-Module scored by 2.94 categorized as practical, (3) effectiveness of e-module scored by 0.57 categorized as medium. Abstract

Movable Book Local Wisdom-Based as Teaching Material to Increase Nationalism in the 21st Century. Objectives: This research investigates the effectiveness of movable book local wisdom based as a teaching material in improving students’ nationalism. Methods: Quasi-experiment was used with a non-equivalent control group design. The population of this study is the fourth-grade primary students. The data were measured using n-gain and independent t-test. Findings: The result shows that the n-gain of students’ nationalism in the experimental classes 1 and 2 were higher than the control class, such as 0.40, 0.39, and 0.29, with a moderate category for experimental classes and a low category for control class. Moreover, t-test results also showed that the value (p) was 0.000, which ≤ 0.05, so it significantly differences in students’ nationalism between experimental and control classes. Conclusion: Therefore, it can conclude that the movable book local wisdom-based teaching material can improve fourth-grade elementary students' nationalism character effectively. Keywords: 21st century, nationalism, local wisdom, teaching material, movable book.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v12.i1.202205

Abstract

Lexical Cohesion Devices in Students Narrative Text and Its Pedagogical Implication in Language Teaching: A Discourse- Semantics Point of View. Objective: This study aims at examing the lexical devices used in college students’ narrative writing. Method: Each students was requested to compose a free-topic narrative text which were subsequently analyzed following the principles of discourse- semantic analysis framework. Findings: Although the use of conjunction and reference contributed to the cohesiveness, the results still confirmed that the lexical relations distributed within the texts did not suit with the linguistic environment of the texts. Conclusion: Referring to the findings, the texts constructed by the students were not really being cohessive. Abstract

Objective. This study aims to elaborate on the role of lecturer-student collaboration in developing student creativity. Method. This research is mix-method research. Data were obtained from 30 students and eight lecturers at three state universities in Malang, East Java. Data was collected through a creative personality scale and interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques, while interview data were analyzed by thematic analysis. Findings. The analysis results show that lecturer-student collaboration activities have implications for the high level of student creativity. Conclusion. The results of this study have implications that lecturer activities have an essential role in developing student creativity. The limitation of this research lies in the data collection process, which is only done online.
