Abstract

Re-envisioning Indonesia's Local Wisdom-Based Curriculum Policy: The Elsie Ripley Clapp Model Approach. Objective: The local wisdom-based curriculum policy is a concept that can address problems for indigenous communities. The purpose of this research is to re-examine Indonesia's local wisdom-based curriculum policy through the Clapp model approach for marginal sub-ethnic groups. Method: The research method used is a literature review of findings from articles on indigenous curriculum policy, indigenous education, and indigenous community school. Results: The Elsie Ripley Clapp model approach is rooted in the value of the school as a democratic space and a commitment to social justice that unites various social classes, focusing on local history, geography, and economy. Conclusion: The application of Elsie Ripley Clapp's progressive pedagogical ideology in curriculum development practices in the 1920s-1930s at Ballard School in Kentucky and Arthurdale School in Virginia can serve as a conceptual approach to curriculum policy in Indonesian social education studies. This involves rethinking curriculum policy for community schools in marginal areas that are socio-geographically distinct and focusing on the communal values of society. Keywords: curriculum policy, local wisdom, clapp model, community school, Indonesia.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i2.202496

Resilience of Internasional Students at Yogyakarta State University: A Phenomenology Study. In addition to affecting the development of technology and information, globalization also has an impact on education. In this borderless 21st century, we have easy access to information in the field of education. The ease of internet access contributes to the spread of different cultures, which attracts students to seek learning experiences abroad. This also applies vice versa, information about Indonesian culture that is spread throughout the world raises the interest of foreign students to study in Indonesia This research uses qualitative methods, this research involves 4 foreign students as sources who come from different programs, namely UNY-DISS (Yogyakarta State University Distinguished International Student Scholarship), Dharmasiswa, and KNB (Cooperation with Developing Countries). Data collection used an open-ended interview method. Where the researcher can ask additional questions to obtain in-depth information. The validity results used member-checking, where participants were involved in providing feedback related to the data. The results of this study found that common problems often faced by international students are language barriers, cultural differences, and adapting to a new environment. International students become resilient based on the existence of positive thinking actions and a high sense of desire to learn that makes them resilient to the difficult situations they face. In general, high motivation and desire to learn increase the resilience of international students, as for the strategies they do to overcome the problems they face such as contacting friends or family, writing journals, and doing self-reflection. Keywords: resilience, international student, culture shock.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i2.202469

Abstract

Students Metacognitive Knowledge in Numeracy Literacy on Flat Surface Shapes Material. Objectives: This research aims to describe the metacognitive knowledge of class VIII students in solving numeracy literacy problems on flat-sided geometric material. Methods: This type of research is qualitative research with 3 students as subjects selected based on test results (each representing high, medium and low abilities), as well as the teacher's consideration that the students are able to communicate well. The data analysis technique used consists of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Findings: The research results show that subjects with high metacognitive knowledge fulfill all indicators of strategy knowledge, knowledge of cognitive tasks and self-knowledge well. Subjects with moderate metacognitive knowledge only met each of the two indicators of strategy knowledge, knowledge of cognitive tasks; as well as self-knowledge. Subjects with low metacognitive knowledge did not meet the indicators of strategy knowledge, 2 indicators of knowledge about cognitive tasks, and 2 indicators of self-knowledge.  Another finding is that metacognitive knowledge must be supported by meaningful repetition in terms of clearly identifying problem information and knowing how to solve it.  The use of image representation in spatial building materials is necessary in solving problems.  Awareness that an error has occurred in the solution must be followed by knowledge of how to correct the error.  Conclusion: Metacognitive knowledge is very necessary for students to solve numeracy literacy questions.  This knowledge must be followed by good and correct representational skills and procedural knowledge. Keywords: flat-side shape; numeracy literacy, metacognitive knowledge.  DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i2.202460
