Abstract

Abstract: Development of a Game-Based e-Media "Snake Ladder Lumpia" to Enhance Vocab ulary Acquisition in Elementary Students. Objectives: Students' ability to interpret vocabulary is still low, which is the basis for this study. Students have been able to read but are still lacking in interpreting vocabulary. The use of learning media is still limited and there is no special media for learning Indonesian. Utilizing digital technology or making simple props relevant to the material, teachers can be more creative and use more diverse and innovative learning media. The purpose of this study aims to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of E-Media Snake Ladder Lumpia  in improving student learning outcomes in the material of interpreting vocabulary of grade IV elementary school students. Methods: This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the Borg and Gall model. The product validity test was carried out with two validators, namely material expert validators and media expert validators. Data collection was carried out by interview, observation, test and non-test techniques. Data collected using a questionnaire. Analysis techniques used in this research are qualitative and quantitative. Findings: The results of this study indicate that the results of the feasibility test, the media obtained 95% with a very feasible predicate and the results of the feasibility test from the material expert 95% with a very feasible predicate. Conclucion: The results of the large-scale usage trial increased from the pretest and posttest with an average N-Gain of 0.63 and significance (2-tailed) of 0.00 < 0.05. The conclusion from the results of this study shows that the E-Media Ular Tangg Lumpia is declared feasible and effective in improving the competence of interpreting vocabulary of fourth grade students of SDN Bringin 02 Semarang.

Abstract

The Effect of Anthropometry and Physical Activities toward Elementary School Students’ Interest in Learning Sports. Objective: The current study aimed to determine the effect of anthropometry and physical activities toward sport learning interest of elementary school students. Methods: The cross-sectional survey research design was applied in this study with 137 elementary students from two Islamic elementary schools in Pringsewu regency, Lampung as research sample. Moreover, descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, and multiple linear regression with product moment correlation coefficient used to analyze and interpret the data. Finding: there was no significant effect of anthropometry toward learning interest (sig > 0.05), however physical activity performed different effect (sig < 0.05). Moreover, a positive and significant effect of anthropometry toward physical activity was found and the combination of both showed the positive effect towards students learning interest. Conclusion: It exist a strong and signification effect of anthropometry and physical activity toward students’ interest in learning sports of elementary school students. Keywords: anthropometry, physical activities, learning interest, elementary school student.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202339

Abstract

The Use of Graphing Calculators in Teaching Mathematics: A Meta-Synthesis. Objectives: This study aimed to explore the use of graphing calculators as a tool in teaching and learning mathematics employing a meta-synthesis method. Methods: A meta-synthesis was used in this study. The final 16 articles used in this study were the result in using the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP) checklist and the PRISMA 2020 flow diagram. Findings: Six themes emerged from the data: (1) influences students' solving and basic skills; (2) the need for complex technical skills; (3) readiness in learning mathematics; (4) facilitative role of the teachers; (5) excellent aid for better comprehension and representation; and (6) increases students' cognitive achievement. The study's meta-theme emerged as the “exploration and navigation on the use of the graphing calculators.” Conclusion: The use of graphing calculators was found very useful in teaching mathematics. It is recommended that a training the use of the graphing calculator be given to both teachers and student; the offering of elective subjects which deal on the use of different technologies useful in Math teaching/learning be considered. Keywords: graphing calculators, meta-synthesis, systematic review, teaching mathematics.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202307

Abstract

The Effectiveness of Multimedia-Based Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) on Thematic Learning Outcomes. Objectives: The low students’ learning outcomes encourage this study to analyze and determine the effect of the implementation of the multimedia-based Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model on the students’ thematic learning outcomes. Methods: Quasi-experimental and quantitative approaches were employed in this study with a non-equivalent control group design. The purposive sampling technique was used in determining the research sample from a total population of 59 students. The data were collected through test and non-test techniques. Findings: Based on the hypothesis test using a simple regression formula, the data obtained that Fcount > Ftable, i.e., 9.19 > 4.20, which has a positive and significant effect on students’ learning outcomes after the implementation of the CIRC model combined with multimedia. Conclusion: The CIRC learning model applied is concluded as an effective learning model as it could improve students’ learning outcomes. Keywords: CIRC, multimedia, thematic learning outcome.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v12.i3.202204
