WIDYANTARA is a research-oriented journal. Papers may address practical and policy implications for education but must be built on robust research and have a strong conceptual grounding in their analyses and discussions. Linguistics and Education welcomes papers from across disciplinary and interdisciplinary research traditions that reflect principled application of qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methodological paradigms and research designs (e.g. case studies, ethnographic fieldwork, experimental/semi-experimental studies, etc.). Papers must be relevant to an international readership.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi dapat meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keefektifan aplikasi Quizizz untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada materi teks cerita inspiratif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan dua siklus. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, terdapat peningkatan antara siklus I dan siklus II. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan adanya peningkatan rerata hasil belajar antara siklus I dan siklus II. Pada siklus I, peserta didik tidak mengetahui penggunaan aplikasi Quizizz sehingga diperoleh rerata sebesar 69% sedangkan pada siklus II diperoleh rerata sebesar 82%. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa aplikasi Quizizz dapat digunakan oleh guru sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi untuk mencapai tujuan pembelajaran.   The Effectiveness of the Quizizz Application to Improve Student Learning Outcomes on Inspirational Story Text Materials The use of information and communication technology can improve the quality of learning. This research aims to describe the effectiveness of the Quizizz application in improving student learning outcomes in inspirational story text material. The research method used is Classroom Action Research with two cycles. Based on the research results, there was an increase between cycle I and cycle II. This is indicated by an increase in the average learning outcomes between cycle I and cycle II. In cycle I, students did not know how to use the Quizizz application so the average was 69%, while in cycle II the average was 82%. Thus, it can be concluded that the Quizizz application can be used by teachers as an alternative technology-based learning media to achieve learning goals.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the various forms of language and functions of advertising language on YouTube social media using sociolinguistic studies. The data source for this research is a video advertising health lozenges on YouTube social media. This research is included in qualitative descriptive research using sociolinguistic studies. Researchers will analyze the variety of languages in advertisements for health lozenges on YouTube social media. Data collection uses listening techniques, note-taking techniques and documentation techniques. The validity technique in this research uses source triangulation techniques. The data source for this research is a video advertising health lozenges on YouTube social media. In this study, 31 data were found in language varieties dominated by business language varieties, there were 17 data, 8 data from official language varieties, 5 data from casual language varieties and 1 data from familiar language varieties.   Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk ragam bahasa serta fungsi bahasa iklan pada media sosial youtube dengan menggunakan kajian sosiolinguistik. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah video iklan permen kesehatan pelega tenggorokan yang ada di media sosial youtube. Penelitian ini termasuk ke dalam penelitian deskriptif kualitatif menggunakan kajian sosiolinguistik. Peneliti akan menganalisis mengenai ragam bahasa pada iklan permen kesehatan pelega tenggorokan di media sosial youtube, Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik imak, teknik catat, dan teknik dokumentasi. Teknik keabsahan pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik triangulasi sumber. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah video iklan permen kesehatan pelega tenggorokan yang ada di media sosial youtube. Pada penelitian ini ditemukan 31 data dalam ragam bahasa didominasi pada ragam bahasa usaha terdapat 17 data, 8 data berasal ragam bahasa resmi, 5 data pada ragam bahasa santai dan 1 data ragam bahasa akrab.

Abstract

In the use of phonological variations of the Javanese language located in the central and suburban areas of Surabaya, unconsciously there are dialect differences which cause a variety of phonological variations in the form of vowel and consonant phonemes. This study aims to determine the variety of phonological variations, determine the types of phonemes, and find out the results of the analysis of phonemes used in Javanese in the central and suburban areas of Surabaya. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The data taken comes from communication between researchers and residents living in the Surabaya area. This study uses an instrument in the form of interviews. The method used by researchers in collecting data is the method of observing and noting (SLC). The method used by researchers in analyzing the data is the equivalent method with the determinant element sorting technique (PUP). The result of this study is that the phonological variations used in Javanese in the central and outskirt areas of Surabaya have vowel phonemes in the form of /u/, /i/, /o/, /a/, /e/, and /ə/ and consonant phonemes in the form of /d/, /g/, /s/, /b/, /n/, /m/, /p/, /l/, /r/, /t/, /w/, /y/, /k /, /c/, /h/, and J/. The conclusion of this research is that there is a geographical location and linguistic phenomena that are used by residents in formal education at school, so that they can influence the Javanese language spoken.   Pada penggunaan variasi fonologis Bahasa Jawa yang terletak di wilayah pusat dan pinggiran Surabaya secara tidak sadar terdapat perbedaan dialek yang menyebabkan adanya ragam variasi fonologis berupa fonem vokal dan konsonan. Penelitian ini mempunyai tujuan untuk mengetahui ragam variasi fonologis, mengetahui jenis fonem, dan mengetahui hasil dari analisis fonem yang dimanfaatkan dalam Bahasa Jawa di wilayah pusat dan pinggiran Surabaya. Metode penelitian yang dimanfaatkan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data yang diambil bersumber dari komunikasi peneliti dan penduduk yang tinggal di wilayah Surabaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen berupa wawancara. Metode yang dimanfaatkan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah metode simak libat catat (SLC). Metode yang digunakan peneliti dalam menganalisis data adalah metode padan dengan teknik pilah unsur penentu (PUP). Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah variasi fonologis yang digunakan pada Bahasa Jawa di wilayah pusat dan pinggiran Surabaya terdapat fonem vokal berupa /u/, /i/, /o/, /a/, /e/, dan /ə/ dan fonem konsonan berupa /d/, /g/, /s/, /b/, /n/, /m/, /p/, /l/, /r/, /t/, /w/, /y/, /k/, /c/, /h/, dan /j/. Simpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu, adanya letak geografis dan fenomena kebahasaan yang terbiasa digunakan oleh penduduk pada pendidikan formal di sekolah, sehingga dapat mempengaruhi Bahasa Jawa yang diujarkan.

Abstract

Artikel ini termasuk kedalam jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian pada artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan sikap berbahasa remaja fase remaja madya pada media social. Sumber data diperoleh dari media sosial Instagram, Tiktok dan X. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah remaja fase remaja madya (15-18). Teknik observasi dan teknik simak catat digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data. Data yang telah dikumpulkan dianalisis dengan teknik analisis dengan model interaktif, teknik ini terdiri atas atas tiga komponen analisis, yaitu: reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan simpulan atau verifikasi. Hasil penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa remaja fase remaja madya masih menunjukkan sikap negatif dalam bertutur di media sosial. Sikap remaja fase remaja madya dalam bertutur di media sosial melanggar tiga ciri sikap positif berbahasa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian remaja fase remaja madya cenderung menggunakan campur kode (code mixing) dan penggunaan ragam non baku dalam bertutur di media sosial. Implikasi dari penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi pedoman berbahasa yang baik dan benar dalam konteks bermedia sosial yang termasuk ruang publik virtual. This article is a descriptive qualitative research. The research in this article aims to describe the language attitudes of adolescents in the middle adolescence phase on social media. Data sources are obtained from social media Instagram, TikTok, and X. The subjects of this research are adolescents in the middle adolescence phase (15-18). Observation and note-taking techniques were used to collect data. The data that has been collected is analyzed using an analysis technique with an interactive model, this technique consists of three components of analysis, namely: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing or verification. The results of this study show that adolescents in the middle adolescence phase still show negative attitudes toward speaking on social media. The attitude of adolescents in the middle adolescence phase in speaking on social media violates the three characteristics of positive language attitudes. Based on the results of the research, adolescents in the middle adolescence phase tend to use code-mixing and the use of non-standard varieties in speaking on social media.

Abstract

Wacana berita di media massa daring mencerminkan pandangan pihak pembuat berita, dengan bahasa berfungsi sebagai pembentuk persepsi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis wacana berita putusan MK No 90/PUU-XXI/2023 pada dimensi Makrostruktural Analisis Wacana kritis norman fairclough. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah analisis dokumen dan observasi. Sumber data yang terdapat dalam penelitian ini berupa kata, frasa, kalimat atau paragraf, teks, ko-teks, dan konteks yang mengandung dan mengindikasikan dimensi makrostruktural. Hasil akhir dari penelitian ini adalah ditemukan aspek situasional, instituasional dan sosial yang memiliki peran signifikan dalam membentuk persepsi dan opini publik. News discourse in the mass media dare reflects the views of the news maker, with language functioning as a shaper of perception. This research aims to analyze the news discourse of the Constitutional Court decision Number. 90/PUU-XXI/2023 in the macrostructural analysis dimension of Norman Fairclough's critical discourse.  The research method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method. The data source used is news with the title "If You Become Vice President, Gibran Chances to Equal Emmanuel Macron to Sanna Marin" and "Holding a Demonstration, BEM Nusantara: Constitutional Court's Decision on the Age Limit of Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates Hit the Constitution". The data analysis technique uses Norman Faiclough’s CDA model analysis which is divided into 3 stages, namely microstructural, mesostructural, and macrostructural dimensions. The final result of this research is that situational, institutional, and social aspects are found which have a significant role in shaping public perceptions and opinions.

Abstract

Kesiapan belajar merupakan faktor penting yang harus diperhatikan karena dapat memengaruhi keefektifan proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan analisis hasil asesmen diagnostik untuk mengetahui kesiapan belajar peserta didik pada materi teks laporan hasil observasi di kelas X3 SMAN 7 Cirebon. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian bahwa mayoritas siswa belum mencapai kesiapan belajar yang optimal akibat masalah yang beragam, seperti kurangnya rasa percaya diri, stres yang dialami, kurangnya kesadaran untuk bertanya, inisiatif belajar yang rendah, dan kurangnya pemahaman terkait teks laporan hasil observasi. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan upaya yang dilakukan untuk mengatasi hambatan ini dengan beberapa cara, antara lain membangun lingkungan belajar yang positif, menerapkan teknik kesadaran diri, menggunakan model, metode, strategi, dan media pembelajaran yang relevan, serta diferensiasi pembelajaran agar siswa dapat mencapai kesiapan belajar yang lebih baik. Learning readiness is an important factor that must be considered because it can affect the effectiveness of the learning process. This is important to note so that students can follow the learning process properly and optimally. This study aims to describe the analysis of the results of the diagnostic assessment to determine the learning readiness of students in the text material of the observation report in class X3 SMAN 7 Cirebon. The theories used in this study include theories about diagnostic assessment and learning readiness. This type of research is qualitative with a descriptive method, namely presenting the results of the research comprehensively to readers. The results showed that the majority of students had not achieved optimal learning readiness due to varying self-confidence problems, stress experienced by half of them, lack of awareness to ask questions, low learning initiative, and lack of understanding related to the structure and language of the material. Efforts are made to overcome these obstacles in several ways, building a positive learning environment, applying self-awareness techniques, using relevant learning models, methods, strategies, and media, as well as learning differentiation so that students can achieve better learning readiness.

Abstract

Penulisan awalan pada suatu kata memiliki peran penting dalam menghasilkan makna sehingga kalimat menjadi efektif. Tujuan penelitian ini, yaitu untuk mengetahui penggunaan prefiks di- dan meN- yang ada pada karangan narasi siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Kota Tangerang Selatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Teknik penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis isi, yaitu dengan meneliti karangan narasi siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa lebih banyak menggunakan prefiks meN- 90,57% daripada prefiks di- 9,43% dalam menulis karangan narasi. Prefiks meN- yang lebih dominan digunakan oleh siswa berdasarkan perubahan bentuknya adalah prefiks mem- dan men-. Prefiks di- yang lebih banyak digunakan oleh siswa berdasarkan makna yang ditimbulkannya adalah dikenai perbuatan atau tindakan. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan prefiks di- dan meN- pada siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Kota Tangerang Selatan dapat dikatakan sudah cukup baik, karena siswa sudah dapat memahami penggunaan di- sebagai awalan serta memahami perubahan bentuk prefiks meN- sesuai dengan kaidah kebahasaan Bahasa Indonesia. This research aims to determine the use of the prefixes di- and meN- in the narrative essays of class VII students of SMP Negeri 1 South Tangerang City. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The research technique used is content analysis, namely by examining students' narrative essays. The results showed that students used the prefix meN- (90.34%) more than the prefix di- (9.66) in writing narrative essays. The prefix meN- which is more dominantly used by students based on changes in form is the prefix mem- and men-. The prefix di- which is more widely used by students based on the meaning it gives is 'subject to an action or action'. So, it can be concluded that the use of the prefixes di- and meN- in class VII students of SMP Negeri 1 South Tangerang City can be said to be quite good because students can understand the use of di- as a prefix and understand changes in the form of the prefix meN- by linguistic rules in Indonesia.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe the types of emotive meanings found in replies to @PesonaIndonesia's TikTok comments. This research uses qualitative research methods. The data source from this research is a response to admin comments on the tiktok account @PesonaIndonesia. The resulting data comes from replies to admin comments on the @PesonaIndonesia tiktok account which contains emotive meaning. After analysis, there were 104 data indicating emotive meanings which were divided into three types, including 22 data indicating high emotive meanings, 46 data indicating friendly emotive meanings, 36 data indicating harsh emotive meanings. The meaning of high emotive consists of the emotive wisdom, emotion, surprise, annoyance, cunning. The meaning of friendly emotive consists of fun, happy, proud, joyful and pitiful. The meaning of rough emotive consists of indifference, emotion, frustration, surprise and annoyance. The implications of the results of this research for learning Indonesian through Reply to admin comments @PesonaIndonesia are suitable for use as a learning medium for students which is useful for increasing knowledge and insight in the field of language. Apart from that, it is also a literacy medium in analyzing the meaning of words and sentences. Words or sentences that express various kinds of emotional expressions and forms can be used as lessons for students who want to know how to explain a meaning. The aim of this research is to describe the meaning of emotives contained in replies to @pesonaindonesia's TikTok comments. This research uses qualitative research methods. Data collection techniques in this research are through observation and documentation. Next, for data analysis techniques, use reading, listening and note-taking techniques, then use documentation by capturing screenshots of replies to admin comments that contain high emotive meaning, friendly emotive meaning and harsh emotive meaning. After analysis, there were 104 data showing emotive meanings which were divided into three types, including 22 data showing high emotive meanings, 46 data showing friendly emotive meanings, 36 data showing harsh emotive meanings. The meaning of high emotive consists of the emotive wise, emotional, surprised, irritated, cunning. The meaning of friendly emotive consists of fun, happy, proud, joyful and pitiful. The meaning of rough emotive consists of indifference, emotion, frustration, surprise and annoyance. Abstract

Penelitiaan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan kurangnya penguasaan menulis teks eksplanasi yang masih rendah khususnya dalam menuangkan ide ke dalam tulisan juga kondisi pembelajaran yang membosankan. Dengan melihat permasalahan tersebut, dibutuhkan perubahan dalam pembelajaran, dengan  penggunaan media pembelajaran yang pariatif dan cocok digunakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi dengan penerapan media youtube dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksplanasi pada peserta didik kelas XI.I di SMAN 9 Cirebon.  Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif yang berfokus pada respon siswa kelas XI.I  terhadap media tersebut. Subjek penelitian melibatkan 36 siswa, dan data dikumpulkan melalui observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media pembelajaran youtube dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksplanasi dan tentunya menarik minat siswa dan mendukung proses literasi. Hal tersebut ditunjukan oleh nilai rata-rata 85, selain itu diperkuat dengan data nontes peserta didik. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan media youtube dalam pembelajaran, membuat peserta didik lebih aktif sehingga dapat  diterapkan sebagai media pendukung pembelajaran khususnya pada materi teks eksplanasi juga memenuhi kebutuhan literasi digital tetapi yang berperan penting dalam membuat proses pembelajaran lebih menarik dan menyenangkan. This research is motivated by the problem of lack of mastery of writing explanatory texts which is still low, especially in expressing ideas into writing, as well as boring learning conditions. This study aims to improve literacy skills by implementing YouTube media in learning to write explanatory texts for class XI.I students at SMAN 9 Cirebon. This type of research is qualitative with a descriptive method. The subjects of this study were 36 class XI.I students. Data were collected through observation techniques. The results of the study indicate that the use of YouTube learning media can be applied in learning to write explanatory texts and of course attract students' interest and support the literacy process. This is indicated by an average value of 87, in addition to being reinforced by student non-test data. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of YouTube media in learning makes students more active so that it can be applied as a supporting medium for learning, especially in explanatory text material, also meeting the needs of digital literacy but which plays an important role in making the learning process more interesting and enjoyable.

Abstract

Penelitian dilakukan bertujuan untuk menganalisis tindak tutur dan prinsip kesopanan dalam komunikasi interpersonal mahasiswa di lingkungan kampus. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi partisipan dan wawancara mendalam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa cenderung menggunakan tindak tutur direktif dan ekspresif dalam komunikasi sehari-hari, dengan variasi tingkat kesopanan yang dipengaruhi oleh konteks sosial dan budaya. Penerapan prinsip kesopanan Leech terlihat dalam strategi komunikasi mahasiswa, namun dengan beberapa penyesuaian sesuai norma lokal. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah perlunya pengembangan kompetensi pragmatik dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di tingkat perguruan tinggi untuk meningkatkan efektivitas komunikasi interpersonal mahasiswa. The research was conducted with the aim of analyzing speech acts and principles of politeness in student interpersonal communication in the campus environment. The method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through participant observation and in-depth interviews. The research results show that students tend to use directive and expressive speech acts in everyday communication, with variations in the level of politeness influenced by the social and cultural context. The application of Leech’s politeness principle can be seen in students’ communication strategies, but with some adjustments according to local norms. The implication of this research is the need to develop pragmatic competence in Indonesian language learning at the tertiary level to increase the effectiveness of students’ interpersonal communication.
