Abstract

This study addresses the persistent challenges of strategic implementation in Islamic educational institutions, where the integration of Islamic values into management practices often remains symbolic and unstructured. It aims to analyze the role of leadership in strategy implementation at SMP Al-Azhar Syifa Budi Parahyangan, to describe the application of the Tafahum Strategis framework, to identify supporting and hindering factors, and to formulate a triadic integration model. A qualitative case study approach was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews, participant observation, document analysis, and NVivo 12 for data analysis, with triangulation and member checking ensuring trustworthiness. The findings reveal that leadership functions as a strategic driver that translates vision into operational programs through the four stages of Tafahum Strategis: Tafakkur (reflection), Tawashau (consultation), Tanfidz (execution), and Muhasabah (evaluation). Supporting factors include high vision acceptance, a collaborative culture, and data-driven monitoring, while resistance, resource limitations, and external dynamics pose challenges. The triadic integration model combining Islamic values, strategic theory, and operational practice proves effective in enhancing consistency and institutional performance. The study concludes that leadership grounded in Tafahum Strategis significantly improves strategy implementation in Islamic education and offers a cross-religious model adaptable to other faith‑based institutions.

Abstract

This study addresses the persistent challenges of improving education quality in Islamic educational institutions, where systematic approaches to managing change remain underexplored. It aims to identify change management strategies, analyze key challenges, explore collaborative and training approaches, and formulate an adaptive change management model for Islamic educational institutions. Using a qualitative systematic literature review following PRISMA guidelines, ten relevant articles from Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, and Google Scholar (2015–2025) were analyzed. The findings reveal that effective strategies include transformational leadership, adaptive curricula, technology integration, and SWOT analysis, supported by collaborative communication, stakeholder involvement, and continuous human resource development. Major challenges are resistance to change, limited human resources, inadequate infrastructure, and poor coordination. The study concludes that successful change management in Islamic education depends on integrating Islamic values (syura, amanah, muhasabah) with modern management frameworks such as Lewin’s model, ADKAR, and POAC. The implications highlight the need for holistic, value-based change models to enhance institutional quality and sustainability.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a strategic framework for integrating Islamic business models into the management of Islamic educational institutions to achieve independence, sustainability, and institutional identity reinforcement. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method following the PRISMA protocol, this research analyzed 25 relevant articles published between 2020 and 2026. The findings reveal that the integration of Islamic business models is holistic, encompassing spiritual, professional, and social dimensions. Key strategies identified include Sharia-based income diversification through business units and cloud accounting for financial management; transformational and Islamic leadership for human resource development; the development of superior programs based on local excellence and Islamic values; and accountable, transparent governance. The study formulates a comprehensive six-pillar strategic framework: Sharia-based income diversification, digital financial governance, value-based human resource development, program innovation, institutional branding, and Maqashid Sharia-based evaluation. This framework offers a novel, integrated model for Islamic education management, bridging the gap between modern managerial practices and Islamic ethical principles. The study's implications provide a practical guide for institutional transformation and a theoretical foundation for future empirical research to test the framework's effectiveness in diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

The challenge of achieving economic self-reliance for Islamic educational institutions underscores the importance of strengthening entrepreneurship in Islamic boarding schools. This study aims to analyze and formulate a model of entrepreneurship at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor in achieving economic self-reliance. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, and were subsequently analyzed using a descriptive-analytical approach. The results indicate that Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor has developed various business units, such as a printing press, a student cooperative, a sharia-compliant microfinance institution (BMT), agriculture, livestock farming, and service providers, which are collaboratively managed by the leadership, teachers, alumni, and students. The management of these businesses integrates pesantren educational values, such as honesty, responsibility, and self-reliance. This study formulates a pesantren entrepreneurship model comprising three main components: collaborative management, business unit diversification, and the internalization of Islamic values as the foundation of economic self-reliance. This model contributes to enhancing the institution’s financial sustainability, strengthening students’ character, and contributing to the local economy. These findings indicate that an Islamic-values-based entrepreneurship model is effective in supporting the sustainable economic independence of Islamic educational institutions.
