Abstract

In writing pantun ‘Indonesian rhymes’ there are certain rules which become a source of difficulty for students, such as taxation, syllable numbers, number of words, number of sentences, so that not all students are interested and motivated to do the pantun writing task. For this reason, learning should be fun and motivating each other through chain writing. This research is a classroom action research to improve motivation and writing skills of students in class VIIA SMP Negeri 1 Kebakkramat. The research action was carried out in two cycles. To analyze the data used comparative descriptive statistical analysis techniques and critical analysis. The results showed that the application of the chain writing method increased motivation and pantun writing skills. This improvement can be done with the following learning procedures: (1) the class is divided into 8 groups, each consisting of 4 students; (2) students and teachers determine the theme of pantun; (3) students and group members make pantun, (4) students make the first row of pantun; (5) the second student makes one next line and the next line is continued by other students in the group until a complete pantun is formed; (6) at the end of each line students write the initials to mark the name of the author; (7) students and their groups make revisions; (8) rhymes are then read in turn by group members; and (9) teachers and other groups assess the pantun read.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to improve: the students’ interest and text writing skills towards the explanatory text for 8th-grade students of SMP Kristen Satya Wacana Salatiga by applying a problem-based learning model. This study is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles. Acctivities carried out in the implementation phase consist of five stages in accordance with the problem based learning, namely (1) problem orientation, (2) organizing students for investigation, (3) guiding investigation, (4) developing and presenting results, and (5) analyzing and evaluating promblem solving. According to the results of the analysis, the students’ interest toward explanatory texts is the first cycle was 50% or as many as 10 students, in the second cycle the students’ interest increased becoming 85% or as many as 17 students. While the results of explanatory text writing skills showed significant results. In the first cycle, the students’ interest in explanation text is 65% or as many as 13 students. Then, it increased in the second cycle which is 100% or all students have succeeded in achieving the minimum completeness criteria that have been determined previously, which is 75

Abstract

This study aims are: (1) to describe the relation of the title to the content; (2) to describe the organization of languages related to cohesion and coherence; (3) to describe sentence effectiveness; (4) to describe accuracy of diction usage; (5) to describe the correct use of spelling and punctuation; (6) to describe the relevance of the use of Indonesian language in Essay rubric of Mojok online media to learning writing articles in Senior High School. The method used is descriptive qualitative, Data sources used in the form of documents and informants. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. Data collection technique using document analysis and interview techniques. Data validity is done by theory triangulation and source triangulation. Data analysis uses content analysis. The results of the study can be described as follows: (1) The structure of the essay in the title, introduction, content and closing has a good unity; (2) Organizing language related to cohesion and coherence is characterized by grammatical cohesion, lexical cohesion, and conjunction where lexical cohesion are the most widely used markers of essay writers; (3) The effectiveness of sentences is divided into three structures namely general sentence structure, parallel sentence structure, and periodic sentence structure that meets the requirements of unity, efficiency, emphasis, and variation which the structure of periodic sentences is the dominant sentence structure used in essay; (4) The correct use of diction is divided into special words, common words, expansion of meaning, narrowing of meaning, amelioration, correction, metaphor, and metonymy which is special words and common words is the most widely used by essay writers; (5) Accuracy in using spelling punctuation includes the use of letters, writing words, and using punctuation according to PUEBI, especially the use of capital letters and the use of periods; (6) The use of Indonesia language in the Essay Rubric of Mojok online media is relevant to write articles in senior high school.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the textual and contextual aspects of the drama text by the class XI SMA Negeri 1 Sukoharjo school year 2016-2017. The research used in this study is analysis of the content analyses with a qualitative approach. The primary Data used in this study was a collection of drama text by the XI SMA Negeri 1 Sukoharjo class. The secondary Data used is the form of articles, books, journals and research results conducted by some researchers. The Data used is taken by the purposive sampling method. To test the validity/validity of data in this study using the source triangulation techniques, and triangulation theory. The results of the study were 179 reference data, 23 60 data for the The researchers found three reference data, i.e. persona, demonstrative, and comparative references. The details are as follows: There are 122 data-refering personas, 41 demonstration reference data, and 16 comparative refering. In the drama text by the class XI SMA Negeri 1 Sukoharjo also found a lexical aspect. The lexical aspects found are: (1) Reps, (2) Sinonimi, (3) Antonimi, and (4) collocations. Details are as follows: 37 data reps, 6 data Sinonimi, 12 data Antonimi, and 16 colocation data. In this study there were four principles that became a reference in the contextual analysis of the drama text, namely: 1) The principle of personal interpretation, 2) The principle of locational interpretation, 3) The principle of temporal interpretation, and 4) the principle of analogy. Based on this, it can be noted that there is a conjugual element in the collection of drama text by the students of the class XI SMA Negeri 1 Sukoharjo. The manuscript of a drama text by SMA Negeri 1 Sukoharjo is a textual aspect, lexical and grammatically. There are four principles that are referenced in the contextual analysis of the drama text, i.e. personal interpretation principles, locational interpretation principles, temporal interpretation principles, and analogy principles.

Abstract

The purpose of this study are to describe and explain: (1) the variety of language errors in complex explanation text of the student work of XI MIPA 1 SMA Negeri 7 Surakarta, (2) the most dominant language errors, (3) causes of error, and (4) teacher's effort to overcome the causes of language error in writing complex explanatory text of students. The results of this study are as follows. First, there are four elements of language errors in complex explanation text of the student work, namely: spelling, diction, sentence, and paragraph. Second, the dominant language errors in the complex explanatory text of the student work are a spelling mistake. Thirdly, language errors that often occur in the complex explanatory text of the student work is caused by several factors, as follows: lack of learning time about spelling due to integrated with existing Indonesian language materials, less thorough in writing, low motivation of students in writing because writing is difficult, as well as student habits of writing without regard to EYD. Fourth, efforts can be made to overcome the causes of language errors in writing complex explanatory texts, among others: increase the spelling time of spelling, increase writing exercises, foster student motivation in writing activities, and increase student mastery of spelling and language rules.

Abstract

The research aims to describe (1) the author’s background of the Gadis Pantai nove , (2) disclosure of elements of Javanese culture; (3) social values in the Gadis Pantai novel; and (4) the relevance of Gadis Pantai novel as literature learning material in senior high school. This research uses qualitative descriptive method. The data source used is in the form of documents and informants. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. Data collection techniques use document analysis and interview techniques. The validity of the data is done by theoretical triangulation and source triangulation. Data analysis using interactive analysis. The results of the study show: (1) the author’s background of the Gadis Pantai novel that is closely related to family and social backgrounds, (2) the disclosure of elements of Javanese culture, including the use of the language of the Javanese community according to position, age, status, and level of familiarity, the Javanese knowledge system that is culturally based on the Dutch colonial knowledge system, the Javanese social system adheres to a strong feudal system. the system of technology and equipment that develops in the life of the Javanese people has developed, the livelihoods of the Javanese people are influenced by geographical conditions and the surrounding environment, the belief system and religion of the Javanese community are influenced by animist culture and dynamism, the diversity of arts developed in Javanese societ,; (3) social values which include the value of perseverance / hard work, honesty values, values of helpful help, politeness values, individual values, (4) Gadis Pantai novel can be used as literary learning material in senior high schools for class X, XI, and XII, especially in learning in KD 3.7 and 4.7 in special class XI and KD 3.8 and KD 4.8 in class XII required.

Abstract

This research study aims to describe and explain (1) the diction of poems collection entitled Perihal Gendis by Sapardi Djoko Damono; (2) the figurative language of poems collection entitled Perihal Gendis by Sapardi Djoko Damono; (3) the imagery of poems collection entitled Perihal Gendis by Sapardi Djoko Damono; (4) character education values of poems collection entitled Perihal Gendis by Sapardi Djoko Damono; and (5) the stylistic relevance of poems collection entitled Perihal Gendis by Sapardi Djoko Damono by learning to write poems in Senior High School.This research used a qualitative descpriptive method literature with content analysis. The source of data of this study is poems book and collection entittled Perihal Gendis by Sapardi Djoko Damono published by Gramedia Pustaka Utama. This technique is content analysis method. The data validation used in this study is triangulation source of data and theory. The results of this study as follows : (1) the connotative meanings of diction are more dominant than denotative; (2) the figurative languages are found out that the top three most dominant are Anaphora then Personification. The simbolik; (3) the use of varied imageries are found out that the dominant imagery is motion image; (4) The most dominant value of character education is curiosity; (5) This poems book and collection can be evaluated to poetry writing materials in Senior High School.

Abstract

This study aims to describe: (1) characterization of the characters; (2) id from the inner conflicts of the characters; (3) ego from the inner conflicts of the characters; (4) super ego from the inner conflicts of the characters; (5) educational value; and (6)  the relevance of novels Di Tanah Lada as the study for literacy in high school.  The method used is descriptive qualitative.  The sources come from documents and informants.  The sampling technique uses purposive sampling.  Writer used document analysis and interview techniques to collect data.  Validation of the data is done by theory of triangulation and source triangulation. Analysis of the data used an interactive analysis technique.  The results of the study can be described as follows.  (1) The character of the characters in the novel Di Tanah Lada is varied, both in terms of character types and physiological, psychological and sociological dimensions;  (2) Id in the inner conflict experienced by the character includes the pleasure of labeling others, conforming wild thoughts in the head, ignoring parental advice, and indulging indulgence in pleasure;  (3) The ego in the inner conflicts experienced by the characters includes fulfilling curiosity and feeling guilty for the decision that's been taken;  (4) Superego in the inner conflicts experienced by the characters include, recognizing the risk of his decision, succumbing to the common good, helping people in trouble, accepting the risk of their actions;  (5) Educational values in drama scripts consist of religious, moral, social and cultural education values.  The value of education is being dominated by the value of social education;  (4) Novels Di Tanah Lada has been meet the standards for content, language, presentation, and graphic worthiness and can be pertained in literacy learning in class XI.

Abstract

Cerpen adalah prosa fiksi yang dibangun melalui unsur instrinsik dan ekstrinsik. Penulisan ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan unsur intrinsik, (2) mendeskripsikan nilai toleransi dan (3) membuat relevansi materi ajar sastra. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah 104 judul cerpen yang terbit di koran Republika Daring 2019. Yang menjadi sampel adalah 10 cerpen. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis isi. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: (1) unsur intrinsik: alurnya mayoritas campuran, tokohnya meliputi protagonis dan antagonis, latarnya meliputi latar tempat, latar waktu dan latar sosial budaya, amanatnya ajakan berperilaku baik, bahasanya populer, sudut pandang didominasi orang ketiga, dan mayoritas bertema Pendidikan; (2) nilai toleransi antara lain: sikap saling menghargai perbedaan pendapat, perbedaan keyakinan, agama, kepercayaan, tidak memaksakan kehendak dan menghargai keputusan orang lain; (3) relevan sebagai materi ajar sastra di SMA.

Abstract

The purpose of this research are to describe and explain: (1) compliance with modesty and politeness infringement on editorial Suara Merdeka daily; (2) the function of politeness in Suara Merdeka daily editorials; (3) the relevance of politeness in Suara Merdeka daily editorial resource as text editorial writing class XII student in high school. This research is a qualitative descriptive by using content analysis method. The data used in this study of the document, namely Suara Merdeka daily editorial and informants. Technique intake of study subjects using purposive sampling. Data collection techniques used, namely the study of the content and interviews with informants. Test the validity of the data using triangulation theory and triangulation of data sources. Data were analyzed using flow model analysis techniques Miles and Huberman. The result show that (1) compliance politeness of the most prevalent is the sympathy maxim, while the least was found is the maxim of simplicity. On offense politeness most common is the maxim of the award, while the least was found is the maxim of agreement; (2) the function of politeness most common is the function stated, while that is not found at all is a function of apology; (3) analysis of politeness in Suara Merdeka daily editorial relevant if used as teaching material writing editorial texts for 12th grade students of senior high school.
