Abstract

This study examines the impact of climate change on agricultural productivity in the Carpathian Basin, a region spanning Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Serbia, and Ukraine. Using panel data from 2000 to 2022 and econometric modeling, the research investigates how key climate variables temperature, precipitation, and CO? emissions influence crop yields across varying agro-ecological contexts. Secondary data were sourced from FAOSTAT, the World Bank, the European Environment Agency, and national meteorological agencies. Results from fixed effects regression models reveal that rising temperatures significantly reduce crop yields, particularly for heat-sensitive crops like maize and sunflower, with a 1°C increase linked to an average yield decline of 0.93 tons per hectare. Conversely, a 100 mm increase in annual precipitation corresponds to a 5–7% yield improvement, though extreme rainfall or drought events can negate these benefits. While CO? emissions exhibit a slight fertilization effect, their interaction with high temperatures results in further yield reductions. Control variables such as fertilizer use and irrigation show mitigating effects, though their influence remains limited in the face of persistent climate stress. The study highlights the urgent need for region-specific adaptation strategies, including enhanced irrigation infrastructure, climate-resilient crops, and cross-border policy collaboration. These findings contribute to the growing literature on climate-agriculture dynamics and offer actionable insights for strengthening food security and sustainability in the Carpathian Basin.

Abstract

This study investigates how machine learning (ML) is transforming higher education in China through pedagogical, institutional, and ethical dimensions. Using a convergent mixed-methods design, data were collected from 45 participants, including university administrators, lecturers, and students from leading institutions across Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS 27, yielding strong correlations between perceived usefulness (r = .69, p < .01), institutional support (r = .71, p < .01), and teaching effectiveness, while ethical concerns were negatively correlated (r = –.53, p < .01). Regression analysis (R² = .68, F (3,41) = 9.72, p < .001) identified institutional support (? = .47, p < .001) as the strongest predictor of ML’s perceived impact. Qualitative data analyzed with NVivo 12 revealed three major themes: enhanced teaching and research efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and ethical challenges including data privacy and algorithmic bias. Document analysis confirmed that national policies, such as the AI-in-Education Action Framework (2022), have accelerated ML integration but highlighted regional disparities and governance gaps. The study concludes that ML serves as a catalyst for innovation in Chinese higher education, fostering personalized learning, predictive analytics, and institutional modernization. However, its sustainability depends on human-centered governance, equitable access, and continuous faculty development. This research contributes to the growing body of evidence that ML’s success in academia is determined not merely by technological capability, but by ethical stewardship, institutional readiness, and inclusive implementation.

Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesia demands teachers to possess strong pedagogic competence characterized by student-centered instruction, adaptive planning, and integration of character values. This study aims to analyze the pedagogic competence of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, focusing on nine competence indicators: understanding student characteristics, lesson planning, learning implementation, assessment design, utilization of media and technology, classroom management, contextual learning integration, reflective teaching, and character and Pancasila Profile development. This research employed a mixed descriptive approach, combining rubric-based assessment, documentation analysis, classroom observation, and teacher self-reflection questionnaires. Three PAI teachers at RA Al Hikmah NW Batu Rimpang were evaluated by school leaders using a standardized rubric and further interviewed to explore challenges and pedagogical practices. The results show that PAI teachers demonstrate a high level of pedagogic competence with an overall score of 3.28. Teachers excel in lesson planning and character development, particularly in integrating Islamic values with the Pancasila Student Profile through contextual, ethical, and collaborative learning activities. However, the findings also reveal that teachers have not fully maximized reflective teaching and digital pedagogical competence due to insufficient training and limited use of interactive learning platforms. These limitations affect digital assessment practices and weaken data-driven instructional improvement. The study implies the need for structured mentoring in reflective teaching and professional development focused on digital pedagogy. This research recommends strengthened institutional support, technological resources, and longitudinal monitoring to optimize PAI teacher competence in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

The paradigm shift in 21st-century education demands a leadership transformation that is not merely administrative but also adaptive. This study aims to explore the role of principals as adaptive leaders in enhancing school community collaboration through empathy-based problem-solving strategies and a humanistic approach. Utilizing a qualitative method with a multi-site case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies at two Catholic Elementary Schools in Malang. The findings indicate that principals successfully integrate their roles as leaders, motivators, and facilitators by leveraging effective interpersonal communication, both formally and informally. This approach is proven to create a harmonious work atmosphere, increase inclusivity, and strengthen the loyalty of the school community in facing educational disruptions. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of "compassion" (Christian humanism) into the adaptive leadership framework, which transforms management strategies into personal moral actions. This research provides a practical contribution to the development of educational leadership models that are responsive to global dynamics without losing the institutional value identity.
