Abstract

Anxiety and fear due to being hospitalized are still significant problems in nursing services. One of the nursing actions that can minimize stress due to being hospitalized is by playing. This study was aimed to identify the effect of play therapy on hospitalization anxiety among children. The research design was a Quasi-experimental with a sample size of 27 children aged 3-6 years who were hospitalized at public hospital in Padang. The intervention was playing therapy with three different types of games for three days; each game was held for 20-30 minutes. On the first day, the children played constructively using Lego; on the second day, the children were given pictures and colored pencils, and then the children were asked to color. Meanwhile, on the third day, the children played paper folding. During play activities, children were accompanied by parents. The instrument used was a questionnaire about parents' perceptions of the response to anxiety in children aged 1-6 years. The statistical test used is the t-test. The average score of hospitalization anxiety in children aged 3-6 years before the intervention was 32.22, with a standard deviation of 5.68, the lowest score was 18, and the highest was 43. Hospitalization anxiety in children decreased after the intervention, where the average anxiety score was 22.59 with a standard 6.64 deviation, with the lowest score of 51 and the highest score of 41. The results showed that there were significant differences in anxiety scores before and after play therapy. It can be concluded that play therapy can be considered as supportive therapy to overcome hospitalization anxiety in children.

Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is a public health threat, especially in tropical countries like Indonesia. The increase in morbidity and mortality rates due to dengue fever, especially in the adolescent group, indicates that this problem needs more attention. This is due to a lack of health confidence and early detection skills for dengue fever. Teenagers, families, communities, and even countries feel the burden of disease. The research aims to analyze the relationship between health beliefs and early dengue detection skills in adolescents. The research design uses correlation analysis with a cross-sectional approach. Variable independent, namely Health beliefs, and variable dependent, namely early detection of dengue fever skills. The research was conducted at a state high school in Jepara Regency in January 2025. The research sample was 93 students selected using a purposive sampling technique based on predetermined criteria. Data analysis used the chi-square test. The results of the study showed that there was a statistically significant relationship between health beliefs in the dimensions of perceived vulnerability (p=0.048), perceived severity (p=0.025), perceived benefits (p=0.028), cues to action (p=0.020) and self-efficacy (p=0.002). However, there was no statistically significant relationship on the dimension of perceived barriers (p=0.467). Health beliefs related to early detection skills. There needs to be a collaboration between schools and community health centres in making efforts to prevent dengue fever by increasing health confidence and early dengue detection skills in students.

Abstract

The issue of mental health disorders is a complex problem that requires serious attention. The "Pentol Bakar" application was developed to evaluate Pentol Bakar as an innovation in patient pick-up services for mental health emergencies and to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the service, as well as to conduct a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis of the Pentol Bakar service for patients with mental health issues at RSJD Dr. Amino Gondohutomo. The literature search method in this study is a scoping review, involving searching for journals or research articles through search engines, then using the PCC framework to create inclusion and exclusion criteria for the journals. The process of article search and selection then used PRISMA-ScR. This review found a total of 893 articles, and the review results indicated that 5 articles were relevant to the research topic. The analysis showed that the "Pentol Bakar" application had some shortcomings for patients and/or their families, including limited exposure to and understanding of technology and the application, inadequate mobile phones for downloading the application, inability to pay for the service, and difficulty for healthcare workers in obtaining detailed information about the patient's condition. On the positive side, the application made it easier to handle psychiatric emergencies, provided broader access to services, and made hospital services more efficient. This study explores the outcomes related to psychiatric emergency handling, including the SWOT analysis. These findings are expected to contribute positively to improving the quality of mental health services at the relevant institution.

Abstract

Mental disorders have become one of the global health problems today. Hallucinations are a nursing problem that is commonly found in mental disorders, especially schizophreni. Increase in the number of cases of hallucinations indicated the need for additional nursing interventions to assist nurses in providing care to patients experienxing auditory hallucinations. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of nursing care and the application of acceptance and commitment therapy on patients with auditory hallucinations, at the West Kalimantan Provincial Mental Hospital. This study uses a qualitative design with a case study approach. The main nursing diagnosis that was established was sensory perception disorders: auditory hallucinations. This study shows that there is a change in the frequency of hallucinations experienced to quite reduced, and the response to hallucinations experienced, such as behavior following orders from hallucinations, is reduced. There is a decrease in the PSYRATS score before the ACT, namely 26 to 15 after the ACT. Using evidence-based nursing ACT 6 sessions, nurses can provide nursing care for sensory perception disorders (auditory hallucinations) using the application of evidence-based nursing ACT 6 sessions.

Abstract

Adherence to therapy is an essential component of successful pulmonary tuberculosis treatment, affecting patient recovery, prevention of drug resistance, and public health outcomes. Understanding compliance factors can guide interventions to improve treatment success rates. This systematic review explored the factors influencing adherence to therapy among tuberculosis patients, synthesizing evidence from various studies to understand the problem comprehensively. A systematic literature search followed PRISMA guidelines, including primary databases and screening for relevant studies. Twenty-four studies that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed. Data extraction and quality assessment were carried out to ensure the robustness of the findings. There were 2,729 articles identified according to the criteria, and 24 articles were obtained that analyzed several factors affecting patient with tuberculosis (PTB) therapy adherence, which were classified into individual, socioeconomic, and healthcare system domains. Key individual factors include patient knowledge about TB, stigma, mental health challenges, and substance use. Socioeconomic barriers, such as financial constraints and limited social support, are particularly prominent. Health system factors, including accessibility, quality of provider-patient communication, and ease of care facilities, also significantly affect compliance. Addressing adherence to TB therapy requires a multi-faceted approach that combines patient education, socioeconomic support, and healthcare system improvement. Targeted interventions based on these findings are critical to improving treatment outcomes and reducing TB-related health disparities

Abstract

Caring for a dying patient creates some unavoidable circumstances. However, nurses will continue to face this situation as part of their nursing activities or responsibilities. Often, the care to dying patients will involve the feelings of nurses and might cause stressful conditions to. This study aims to explore the nurses’ experiences in end-of-life care to the dying patients in the ICU. This study was qualitative; a semi-structured interview was used to explore the experiences of nurses in the ICU about end-of-life care. Five ICU nurses were interviewed based on their experiences in taking care of patients during the end of life. All interviews were recorded, transcribed, and used to analyze the data based on the content. Categories and subcategories were retrieved from the statements of the data. Three categories retrieved from this study: struggle with self-emotion, providing holistic care to family members, and challenges in providing end-of-life care. Some suggestions obtained from this study are that nurses need to increase their knowledge and skills in end-of-life care. It is also suggested that health institutions develop an end-of-life protocol to enable nurses to prepare themselves for what should be done for their dying patients and their family members.

Abstract

The primary nursing care method enhances job satisfaction by giving nurses greater autonomy in patient management. This study aims to analyze the relationship between primary nursing care implementation and nurse job satisfaction in a general hospital inpatient ward. This cross-sectional quantitative study included all 58 inpatient nurses at a general hospital using total sampling. Conducted in November 2024, it targeted nurses working in inpatient units implementing the Primary Nursing Care Method who agreed to participate. The study involved 58 nurses, mostly aged 25-34 years (79.3%), female (96.6%), with a Nurse degree (77.6%), and 1-4 years of experience (46.6%). Recognition was received by 51.7% of nurses. A significant relationship was found between primary nursing care implementation and job satisfaction (p = 0.011, OR = 1.115). Implementing primary nursing care is associated with higher job satisfaction, increasing the likelihood by 1.115 times compared to non-implementation. The general hospital should implement training, supervision, and evaluations for primary nursing care while strengthening nurse appreciation through managerial support and periodic awards.

Abstract

Nursing documentation is a crucial aspect of nursing practice, yet manual documentation systems often encounter barriers that may impact care quality. This study aims to examine the association between the use of computer-based documentation systems and perceived work efficiency and quality of nursing care among nurses at a national referral hospital in Jakarta. A cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted in November 2024 involving all 178 inpatient nurses at a national referral hospital in Jakarta using total sampling. The study included nurses working in inpatient units that had implemented computer-based documentation and who consented to participate. Of the 178 respondents, primarily aged 24–34 years (58%) and female (88%), 61% reported not yet using computer-based documentation. Analysis showed a statistically significant association between the use of computer-based documentation and both work efficiency (OR 53.167) and perceived quality of nursing care (OR 22.733) (p < 0.05). Findings suggest that the use of computer-based documentation is associated with higher perceived efficiency and quality in nursing care. These associations may be attributed to reduced time spent on manual documentation, enhanced communication among healthcare providers, and improved safety measures. Further research using longitudinal or interventional designs is needed to explore causal relationships.
