Abstract

Learning Akidah Akhlak in the digital era faces challenges in maintaining student enthusiasm. One innovative strategy that can be applied is gamification, namely the use of game elements in a non-game context to increase student motivation and engagement. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of gamification strategies in increasing student enthusiasm in learning Akidah Akhlak at MI Al Hidayah Karanggitung. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation of teachers and students involved in the implementation of gamification. The results of the study showed that the application of gamification elements, such as giving points, badges, leaderboards, and game-based challenges, significantly increased active participation and student learning motivation. In addition, this strategy also creates a more interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere, so that students find it easier to understand the Akidah Akhlak material. Factors that support the success of this strategy include teacher involvement in designing educational games, the use of digital technology, and positive student responses to more varied learning methods. However, this study also identified several obstacles, such as limited access to digital devices for some students and the need for additional training for teachers in developing gamification-based learning media. Thus, this study concludes that the gamification strategy is an effective approach in increasing student enthusiasm in learning Akidah Akhlak, especially in the digital era. The implications of this study lead to recommendations for educational institutions to adopt a similar approach by considering the readiness of infrastructure and training for educators to ensure the sustainability of gamification implementation in learning.

Abstract

Islamic religious education plays an important role in shaping the character and morals of students from an early age. One of the materials taught at the Raudhatul Athfal level is the story of the Prophet and the Apostle, which aims to instill the values of faith and exemplary behavior in everyday life. However, monotonous delivery methods often lead to a lack of understanding and interest in the material. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the application of the storytelling method in improving students' understanding of the story of the Prophet and the Apostle at RA Ar Rahman. The research method used is classroom action research with a qualitative approach. The subjects of the study were students of RA Ar Rahman aged 4–6 years. Data were collected through observation, interviews with teachers, and evaluation of student understanding before and after the application of the storytelling method. Data analysis techniques were carried out by means of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the storytelling method was able to significantly improve students' understanding of the story of the Prophet and the Apostle. This can be seen from the increase in students' active participation during learning, their interest in listening to stories, and their ability to remember and retell the stories that have been learned. In addition, this method also has a positive impact on the development of students' social and emotional skills, such as increasing empathy and respect for parents and teachers. The application of the storytelling method is carried out using various techniques, such as the use of hand puppets, picture illustrations, and interesting voice expressions to adjust to the characteristics of the child's age. The teacher also invites students to discuss and ask questions after the storytelling session to strengthen their understanding. The obstacles faced in implementing this method include time constraints and the need for training for teachers in improving effective storytelling skills. Thus, the storytelling method can be an effective alternative in improving students' understanding of the story of the Prophet and the Apostles. The application of this method not only makes learning more enjoyable, but also helps students absorb the moral values contained in the story. Therefore, it is recommended that this method continue to be developed and applied more widely in Islamic religious learning at the early childhood education level.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach in enhancing student learning motivation in mathematics at MIN 1 Banda Aceh. Low motivation among students in mathematics learning has been a persistent challenge, often resulting in decreased engagement and suboptimal learning outcomes. To address this issue, a Classroom Action Research (CAR) was conducted over two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection phases. The participants were 28 fourth-grade students who exhibited varying levels of interest and performance in mathematics. The RME approach, which emphasizes contextual learning and the use of real-life situations to make abstract mathematical concepts more relatable, was implemented through a series of structured learning activities. Data collection methods included observation, student motivation questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The results demonstrated a significant increase in students' motivation, as evidenced by higher participation rates, improved attitudes towards mathematics, and greater enthusiasm during classroom discussions and group activities. Quantitative analysis showed an increase in the average motivation score from 63.2% in the pre-cycle to 78.5% in the first cycle, and further to 89.4% in the second cycle. Qualitative findings supported these results, revealing that students were more actively involved, collaborative, and confident in solving mathematical problems when learning was linked to real-world contexts. In conclusion, the Realistic Mathematics Education approach proved to be an effective pedagogical strategy for improving student learning motivation in mathematics. It is recommended that educators adopt RME principles to create meaningful and engaging learning experiences that resonate with students’ everyday lives. Future research may explore the long-term impact of RME on students' academic achievement and its adaptability across different educational settings.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the traditions and behaviors related to Arabic language learning in salaf pesantren with special attention to the practice and tradition of linguistic punishment as a pedagogical strategy. Based on participation in observation, interviews, and document analysis, this study shows that Arabic is not only taught formally, but also expressed and practiced in the daily lives and identities of students. Linguistic punishments such as sentence repetition, vocabulary exercises, or public speech help learning to be more active and serve to elevate discipline and collective responsibility. This discipline also produces a new level of learning culture where language acquisition is associated with the formation of character and faith values. These findings confirm that this kind of approach should be considered in an effort to build student accountability built in a positive, immersive, sustainable, and harmonious learning environment between traditions and educational functions.

Abstract

This classroom action research aimed to enhance Islamic Religious Education learning outcomes among fourth-grade students at SDN 23 Bandar Baru by implementing a combined approach of assignment-based learning and the recitation method. The study was motivated by the observation that students demonstrated low engagement and unsatisfactory academic performance in the topic of hadas kecil (minor ritual impurity), a fundamental concept in Islamic practices. Employing a cyclical model of planning, action, observation, and reflection, the research was conducted over three cycles involving 17 students as subjects. Data were collected through observation, field notes, and formative tests administered at the end of each cycle. The findings revealed a progressive improvement in student achievement: the average test scores increased from 66.5 in the first cycle to 70.16 in the second, and reached 83.33 in the third. Furthermore, classical completeness rose significantly from 23% to 77%, and finally to 94%. The results indicate that the integration of assignments with the recitation method effectively fostered student motivation, participation, and comprehension. Notably, students became more responsible and engaged in the learning process, while teachers were better able to structure learning activities around active and reflective engagement. In conclusion, the use of this integrated approach proved to be a practical and impactful method to improve student learning outcomes and should be considered for broader application in religious education contexts, particularly when aiming to internalize abstract and practice-based religious concepts.
