Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in student learning outcomes using the Group Investigation and Numbered Heads Together learning models on environmental pollution in seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 8 Pematangsiantar in the 2019/2020 academic year. The population in this study was all seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 8 Pematangsiantar in the 2019/2020 academic year, consisting of eight classes with a total of 340 students. The sampling process was carried out using random class or cluster random sampling to obtain two classes: class VII-D as experimental class I using the Group Investigation learning model and class VII A as experimental class II using the Numbered Heads Together learning model. Data analysis was carried out by finding the average value, standard deviation, and hypotheses were tested using statistics or the t-test at a significance level of α = 0.05. The results obtained the average pre-test scores of experimental class I and experimental class II were 44.86 and 40.27, respectively. The post-test scores of experimental class I and experimental class II were 83.78 and 87.03 with a difference of 3.25. From the results of the hypothesis test using the t test, it was obtained that t count (2.517) > t table (1.66629), so Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected, meaning there was a difference in student learning outcomes using the Group Investigation and Numbered Head Together learning models on environmental pollution material for class VII of SMP Negeri 8 Pematangsiantar in the 2019/2020 academic year. It was concluded that there was a difference in student learning outcomes using the Group Investigation and Numbered Head Together learning models on environmental pollution material for class VII of SMP Negeri 8 Pematangsiantar in the 2019/2020 academic year.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the Effect of Learning Interest in Virtual-Based Learning During the Covid-19 Pandemic on the Statistical Communication Skills of Students in the Biology Education Study Program, FKIP USI Pematangsiantar, Academic Year 2020/2021. This type of research is descriptive quantitative with conclusions drawn through statistical analysis. The population in this study were all fifth-semester students of the Biology Education Study Program, FKIP USI Pematangsiantar, Academic Year 2020/2021. The sample of all fifth-semester students was 30 people (total sample). The required data were obtained through questionnaires and documentation. The previous questionnaire was tested for data normality and data homogeneity. The data analysis techniques used were multiple linear regression analysis, t-test, R2 test, F-test. The results of the regression analysis obtained a linear regression equation: Ŷ = 94.075 X - 0.127. Based on the linear regression analysis (F-test), F count (0.769) > Fsig. (0.388b), it can be concluded that the linear regression direction coefficient is significant, with a correlation coefficient contribution of 0.163, resulting in a determination coefficient of 2.67%, a very low correlation.

Abstract

This study compares student learning outcomes using the Example-Non-Example and Picture and-Picture learning models on the Respiratory System in eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri  2 Dolok Panribuan. This study aims to determine whether there are differences in student learning outcomes when learning about the respiratory system using the Example-Non-Example and Picture-and-Picture models, and to determine the magnitude of the differences in student learning outcomes when learning about the respiratory system using the Example-Non-Example and Picture-and-Picture models. The population in this study was all eighth-grade students in the second semester of SMP Negeri 2 Dolok Panribuan in the 2019/2020 academic year, consisting of six classes with a total of 179 students. Sampling was conducted using cluster random sampling. The sample taken in this study was divided into two classes: class VIII-2 (experimental class I) using the Example-Non-Example learning model and class VIII-5 (experimental class II) using the Picture-and-Picture learning model. Data analysis was performed by calculating the average score and standard deviation, and hypotheses were tested using the t-statistic or t-test at a significance level of α = 0.05. Based on the research results obtained, the total pre-test and post-test scores for experimental class I were 1350 and 2670 while the average scores were 42.18 and 83.43. In experimental class II the total pre-test and post-test scores for experimental class II were 1470 and 2485 while the average scores were 45.93 and 77.65. When comparing the average post-test value of experimental class I (83.43) with experimental class II (77.65), a difference in student learning outcomes was obtained of 5.78 where the learning outcomes of experimental class I with the Example Non Example model were higher than the learning outcomes of experimental class II with the Picture and Picture learning model. The results of hypothesis testing using the "t test" at a significance level of α = 0.05 and (dk) = 58 obtained t count (2.50> t-table (1.99) then Ho was rejected, Ha was accepted meaning there was a difference in student learning outcomes using the Example Non Example and Picture and picture learning models on the respiratory system material in class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Dolok Panribuan in the 2019/2020 academic year.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the problem-based learning (PBL) model on students' science learning outcomes on environmental pollution in grade VII of SMP Negeri 2 Dolok Panribuan in the even semester of the 2019/2020 academic year. The study used a quasiexperimental method with a posttest-only control design. The sample of this study was 66 grade VII students of SMP Negeri 2 Dolok Panribuan. The research instrument was a test divided into a pre-test (given before learning) and a post-test (given after learning with different treatments). The pre-test and post-test were conducted in the form of 20 multiple-choice questions. Each correct answer was given a score of 5 and an incorrect answer was given a score of 0. Thus, the score range was 0-100. The prerequisite techniques for data analysis were normality and homogeneity tests. Furthermore, the data were analyzed by calculating the average score (mean) and the magnitude of the standard deviation (S). Based on the research results, the total post-test score of the experimental class was 3155 with an average score of 95.60, and the total post-test score of the control class was 3050 with an average learning outcome score of 92.61 with a difference of 3.19. Based on the results of the hypothesis testing, in the t-test, the calculated t = 2.13 was obtained and at the significance level of ɑ = 0.05 and df = 32, the obtained t table = 2.03. So, t count > t table, then H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning there is an effect of the use of problem-based learning models on students' science learning outcomes on environmental pollution material for class VII of SMP Negeri 2 Dolok Panribuan in the 2019/2020 academic year. Based on the results of the correlation test, the problem-based learning model has an effect on students' science learning outcomes on environmental pollution material for class VII of SMP Negeri 2 Dolok Panribuan in the 2019/2020 academic year.

Abstract

The Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model, or problem-based learning, is essential for science classes at the junior high school (SMP) level. This learning model can improve students' thinking skills, instill personal and social character values, and foster academic achievement through improved student learning outcomes. This study demonstrated a higher average post-test score (8.04) compared to the control class that did not implement the PBL model (6.87), a difference of 1.17 points.

Abstract

This study is a classroom action research aimed at describing the application of the Scramble model to improve biology learning outcomes at the Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Private High School in Pematangsiantar. The subjects were 30 students in grade X IPA-1 at the Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Private High School. The study was conducted in four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) used a collaborative model that prioritizes cooperation between teachers and researchers. The instrument used in this study was a 20-question student learning achievement test. Before being used as a data collection tool, the prepared instrument was pre-tested to determine its validity, reliability, discrimination power, and difficulty level. Based on the results, the average improvement in students' critical thinking skills was 60.00 in cycle I, then increased to 80.00 in cycle II. From these results, it can be concluded that the application of the Scramble learning model can improve student learning outcomes in grade X SMA YPK Pematangsiantar.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using the Group Investigation learning model on environmental pollution material in class X of SMA Negeri 2 Bandar in the 2020/2021 academic year. This research is an experimental study with a pre-test, post-test design. The population was 252 students, and the sample size was 62 students (Cluster Random Sampling). Data analysis was conducted by calculating the average score and standard deviation, and hypotheses were tested using the t-statistic or t-test at a significance level of α = 0.05. The results of the hypothesis test using the t-test showed that the calculated t-value (3.12) was greater than the t-table (2.00). Therefore, H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted, indicating that the Group Investigation learning model had an effect on environmental pollution material in class X of SMA Negeri 2 Bandar in the 2020/2021 academic year.

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of determining the Effect of Motivation on Science Learning Achievement of Grade VIII Students of Taman Ilmu Perlanaan Private Junior High School, Bandar Simalungun District, Academic Year 2019/2020. The number of samples in this study is the same as the population with a total of 52 people consisting of 2 classes. The research instrument used to collect data was a questionnaire about Learning Motivation variable (X) and a mid-semester Value Collection List (DKN) to determine science learning achievement (Y variable). From the hypothesis testing obtained t count > Sig. (2-tailed), (2.694> 0.010) then Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected which means there is a very significant influence between Motivation on Science Learning Achievement of Grade VIII Students of Taman Ilmu Perlanaan Private Junior High School, Bandar Simalungun District, Academic Year 2019/2020. The results of the regression analysis obtained a linear regression equation: Ŷ = 86.411 X + 0.057. The equation shows that students' science learning achievement is influenced by motivation. The following conclusions are drawn: 1) There is a positive influence of motivation on science learning achievement, which is acceptable. 2) Based on a simple linear regression analysis (F test), the calculated F (0.230) > Fsig. (0.0633) can be obtained. It can be concluded that the linear regression direction coefficient is significant with a correlation coefficient contribution of  0.068, so the determination coefficient is 4.6%, a very low correlation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in student learning outcomes using the Group Investigation (GI) and Think Talk Write (TTW) learning models on the evolution material in grade XII of SMA Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Pematangsiantar in the 2019/2020 Academic Year. The population in this study were all grade XII students of SMA Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga consisting of 3 (three) classes with a total of 103 students and the research sample was 68 students consisting of two classes, namely class XII-IA1 with 34 students as the experimental class I using the Group Investigation (GI) learning model and XII-IA2 with 34 students as the experimental class II using the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model. Data analysis was carried out using SPSS 21 to find the average value, standard deviation and hypothesis proven using the t-test at a significance level of α = 0.05. The research results obtained an average learning outcome score of 79.26 for experimental class I using the Group Investigation (GI) learning model, and 84.12 for experimental class II using the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model. Hypothesis testing using the t-test at a significance level of α = 0.05 and dk = 66 yielded a calculated t (3.91) > t (2.00). Therefore, H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, indicating a difference in student learning outcomes between the Group Investigation (GI) and Think Talk Write (TTW) learning models on evolution in grade XII of SMA Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Pematangsiantar in the 2019/2020 academic year.

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of determining the differences in student learning outcomes using the Word Square and Group Investigation learning models on the human digestive system material in class VIII of Taman Siswa Junior High School, Pematangsiantar, in the 2020/2021 Academic Year. The population in the study were all class VIII students of Taman Siswa Junior High School, Pematangsiantar, in the 2020/2021 Academic Year, consisting of 6 classes totaling 215 students and a sample of 64 people, namely class VIII-3 as the experimental class I and VIII 2 as the experimental class II. From the results of the hypothesis testing, it was obtained that t count (6.55) > t table (1.99), at a significance level of α = 0.05 and degrees of freedom = 62, then Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, meaning there were differences in student learning outcomes using the Word Square and Group Investigation learning models on the human digestive system material in class VIII of Taman Siswa Junior High School, Pematangsiantar, in the 2020/2021 Academic Year. It was concluded that there was a difference in student learning outcomes using the Word Square learning model on the human digestive system in eighth grade students of Taman Siswa Middle School, Pematangsiantar, in the 2020/2021 academic year, compared to those using the Group Investigation learning model.
