Abstract

Global communities have been responding to the decades of Palestine-Israel conflict through, for example, transnational activism in solidarity with the Palestinian cause. Cities are now becoming increasingly important in global politics, and they are hardly ignoring international issues, including the imbalanced conflict between two political entities. Despite this, city transnational activism on the Palestine question remains limited in the scholarly realm. This research aimed to investigate transnational activism carried out by several European cities, such as Barcelona (Spain), Oslo (Norway), Liège, and Verviers (Belgium), amidst strong political and military support for Israel from Western countries. The research applied the qualitative method and the concept of city transnational activism. The findings suggest that the selected cities practiced transnational activism in the form of moral calls as well as boycott resolutions to emphasize the necessity to respect Palestinian rights and oppose Israel’s policy towards Palestine and the violation of international law. This paper provides a perspective that local state actors, like cities, through activism, can champion global norms through local actions in response to global issues like conflicts.

Abstract

This thesis examines the character development of Alice through the conflicts she faces in Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (1865). The source of data used in this study is the 10th edition of the novel published by Gramedia. This study focuses on the internal and external conflicts experienced by Alice as the main character in Wonderland. The writer applies a qualitative descriptive method and uses four theories to analyze the conflicts encountered by Alice. The findings show that Alice is a round character who develops throughout the story as a result of the conflicts she experiences. The external conflicts include man versus person and man versus society. These conflicts contribute significantly to Alice’s emotional and personal growth. Wonderland becomes a place where Alice learns to leave behind her former self and adapt to unfamiliar situations and rules. Throughout her journey, Alice transforms from a timid child who is afraid to express herself into a brave and confident individual. This study concludes that conflicts in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland function not only as plot elements but also as important factors in shaping Alice’s selfhood.

Abstract

The development of digital platforms has significantly transformed linguistic practices, particularly through the phenomenon of code-switching among content creators. This study aims to analyze the patterns, reasons, and functions of language use in the vlogs of Boy William, Sasha Marissa, and Fathia Izzati. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, this research is grounded in the theoretical frameworks of Poplack (1980), Grosjean (1982), and Holmes (2013). The findings reveal a total of 144 instances of code-switching, with the inter-sentential type emerging as the most dominant pattern. The analysis indicates that code-switching functions as a systematic communication strategy that facilitates lexical efficiency and enhances emotional expression. Furthermore, the practice operates as symbolic capital for vloggers, enabling them to construct a distinctive digital identity while simultaneously negotiating their social position and hybrid identity within a complex global digital space. Thus, code-switching is not merely a linguistic phenomenon but also a strategic tool in online interaction and self-presentation.

Abstract

Setiap usaha manusia untuk memahami sesuatu yang transenden selalu membutuhkan cara dan ukuran yang tepat. Demikian pula dalam memahami sosok Yesus Kristus yang menjadi pusat iman Kristen, diperlukan metode yang sistematis dan kriteria yang jelas agar pemahaman yang dihasilkan tidak keluar dari kebenaran iman yang sejati. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis metodologi dan kriteria Kristologi, termasuk aplikasinya dalam kehidupan masa kini. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metodologi Kristologi adalah pendekatan sistematis yang digunakan untuk merefleksikan pribadi dan karya Yesus Kristus, mencakup sumber, prinsip interpretasi, dan proses sistematisasi. Kriteria Kristologi terdiri atas lima kriteria utama yang saling berkaitan yaitu kriteria alkitabiah (sebagai yang tertinggi), dogmatis-historis, rasional, kontekstual, dan praktis-etis. Aplikasi metodologi dan kriteria Kristologi dalam kehidupan masa kini meliputi pengajaran iman, pembinaan jemaat, menghadapi tantangan era digital, kehidupan pribadi, dialog lintas iman, serta pelayanan diakonia. Penelitian ini berkontribusi bagi pengembangan ilmu dogmatika serta memberikan implikasi praktis bagi mahasiswa, gereja, dan orang percaya dalam menghayati iman Kristen secara benar di tengah arus zaman.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of public services at the Department of Population and Civil Registration in Surabaya City. The main issue examined in this research is the quality of public services and the factors influencing service effectiveness. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach through literature review, by analyzing various sources such as scientific articles, books, official reports, and documents related to public services. The findings reveal that public services at the agency have generally shown positive development, particularly in terms of service accessibility, digital innovation, and responsiveness to the community. However, several challenges remain, including inadequate infrastructure, disparities in digital literacy among the public, and the high number of service users, which affect service effectiveness. Therefore, continuous improvement efforts are needed through enhancing human resource quality, optimizing technology-based service systems, and strengthening facilities and infrastructure to improve the overall quality of public services.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze, identify, and examine in depth the educational values ​​of Sufism Akhlaki contained in the biographical novel “Surat Cinta Para Sufi” by Mohamad Fathollah. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a library research approach and content analysis. Data were collected through careful reading of the novel text, identifying parts relevant to the concept of Sufism Akhlaki, and classifying them based on predetermined educational value categories. The results of this study indicate that the novel “Surat Cinta Para Sufi” contains a variety of rich educational values ​​of Sufism Akhlaki, including aspects such as mahabbah (divine love), zuhud (simplicity and not being tied to the world), mujahadah an-nafs (fighting lust), gratitude, tawakal, muhasabah (self-introspection), and the importance of the guidance of the mursyid. Sufi thought reflects Sufism Akhlaki which emphasizes the formation of the soul through the values ​​of divine love, patience, and sincerity. Sufi thought is depicted between vertical dimensions (relationship with God) and horizontal dimensions (relationships with others). This is relevant to the problems of contemporary Islamic education, namely the moral crisis and the culture of luxurious living. The conclusion of this study is that the biographical novel "Love Letters of the Sufis" functions not only as a literary work but also as a relevant source of Sufism education for readers in cultivating spirituality, purifying the heart, and forming a perfect Islamic character.

Abstract

This study investigates a B2B brand trust deficit at PT Haebot Teknologi Indonesia, a provider of specialized CNC machinery, stemming from a fragmented digital presence on B2C-oriented platforms that failed to communicate technical expertise and provide transactional assurances. Using a two-cycle action research methodology, a professional, long-form sales landing page was developed using the React framework to serve as a centralized, authoritative digital asset. The intervention's effectiveness was evaluated using a purpose-built questionnaire administered to 15 stakeholders. The initial cycle revealed a critical paradox, while aesthetic and identity-based signals (Authenticity, Consistency) were successfully established, the intervention failed to build foundational trust due to the absence of explicit warranty and risk information. The second cycle rectified these deficits by adding an after-sales policy section and product-level risk warnings. Post-intervention analysis showed that the previously weakest pillars, Transparency and Reliability, improved to perfect mean and median scores of 1.0. The study's primary contribution is a proposed hierarchical model of B2B digital trust, suggesting that for a technical audience, transactional assurances that mitigate risk function as a prerequisite for trust, rather than as an additive component. Their absence appears to constitute a functional veto that nullifies the positive effect of other brand-building signals.

Abstract

This study analyzes the distinction between debt (qardh) and capital (ra’s al-mal) in Islamic business from a fiqh muamalah perspective and its implications for sharia accounting. Using a qualitative library approach, the study finds that qardh functions as a social contract without profit, while capital is based on partnership and risk sharing linked to real economic activity. In practice, financing is dominated by debt-like and trade-based contracts due to risk and institutional constraints. This creates a gap between normative principles and implementation, especially in risk allocation and contract substance. The study highlights that unclear classification between debt and capital affects financial reporting and weakens accountability. Strengthening conceptual clarity is essential to ensure fairness, transparency, and compliance in sharia accounting.

Abstract

The development of the textile industry makes a significant contribution to the economy, but its production activities also generate large amounts of liquid waste that has the potential to pollute aquatic environments. Textile industrial waste generally contains various hazardous substances such as synthetic dyes, organic chemicals, surfactants, and heavy metals like chromium, which can degrade water quality and cause toxic effects on aquatic organisms. This article aims to analyze the performance of textile industrial waste, examine its effects on water quality parameters, and assess its toxicity to aquatic biota. The method used is a literature review of various scientific journal sources related to textile waste and its impact on marine ecosystems. The results show that textile waste can increase BOD, COD, turbidity, and suspended solids content, thereby reducing dissolved oxygen levels in water. This condition can cause physiological stress, growth disorders, and even death of aquatic organisms. Furthermore, heavy metals and synthetic dyes in textile waste have the potential to bioaccumulate and biomagnify in the food chain, threatening the balance of marine ecosystems and human health. Therefore, effective management and treatment of textile industrial waste is crucial to reduce the impact of pollution and protect the aquatic environment.

Abstract

This study aims to design and develop a web-based e-learning system as a supporting medium for learning in the Computer and Network Engineering Department at SMK Negeri 5 Padang. The problems identified include the absence of an integrated digital learning system, limited access to learning materials outside the classroom, and conventional management of assignments and communication. This study employs a Research and Development (R&D) method with the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) using the Waterfall approach, which consists of analysis, design, implementation, and testing stages. System design is carried out using Unified Modeling Language (UML), while implementation utilizes the PHP programming language supported by tools such as Laragon, Composer, and Node.js. System testing is conducted using the Black Box Testing method to ensure that all functionalities operate according to requirements. The results indicate that the developed e-learning system is capable of facilitating learning material management, assignment submission and assessment, photo-based attendance, and integrated announcement delivery. The system is considered to improve flexibility, effectiveness, and accessibility of the learning process without replacing face-to-face learning. Therefore, this web-based e-learning system can serve as an alternative solution to support learning activities at SMK Negeri 5 Padang.
