Abstract

Modernization is a change that cannot be avoided by all levels of society. The research aims to examine the role of actors in embracing the people of Jambuan Hamlet who have a traditional frame of mind and previous habits toward a more modern life. This research is descriptive qualitative research, namely the data collected was obtained through in-depth interviews with vital informants and supporting informants. The results of the research show the socio-cultural background of the Jambuan Hamlet community. Society has a pragmatic mindset or instantaneous thinking which is motivated by a lack of education knowledge which impacts skills in the field of work as well as a lack of understanding of religious knowledge. The role of actors here can be seen in seeking modernization of the social aspects of the residents of Jambuan Hamlet. This change can be seen in changes in the minimum standards of education, the deepening of religion, and the framework of thinking in the people of Jambuan Hamlet.

Abstract

The phenomenon of begging, which emphasizes the hope of other people's compassion by selling the image of 'poverty', has become a sustainable social ecosystem that is unbroken from generation to generation because it has become a separate 'lifestyle' which is then interpreted by the perpetrators as part of a "profession". The stigma then explores into a hereditary habit that is cultivated in a social environment that makes the phenomenon of begging the main livelihood and becomes part of the 'lifestyle'. Begging culture as mentioned above occurs in one of the social environments in Bondowoso Regency, East Java, which for generations has continued the ecosystem of begging culture and is commonly known as "Kampung Barak" which has now been transformed empirically and the area is now named "Kampung Baru", but unfortunately the continuity of begging culture is still maintained. The social ecosystem attracts the author's attention to explore the phenomenon of an uninterrupted begging culture (continuity) that occurs in the transformation of "Kampung Barak" to "Kampung Baru". This research was conducted using an ethnographic approach that studies the culture and daily life of a group or community with the aim of understanding the norms, values, and practices applied in the context of cultural things. Thus, it is hoped that this research can explore and understand in depth what causes the continuity of begging culture in the transformation of "Kampung Barak" into "Kampung Baru" and be able to provide solutions to break the begging culture ecosystem in the area.

Abstract

Women are often charged with housework which makes them less exposed to information regarding gender equality that occurs between men and women. For this reason, there needs to be awareness and feelings of mutual respect. Especially in the higher education environment, there is a need for campaigns or even courses that discuss gender equality. The aim of carrying out this research is none other than to find out whether gender equality has been implemented in the campus area, in other words in higher education. The research method applied and used in this research is descriptive qualitative using a critical discourse approach model. The results of the research show that the three informants said that maximum gender equality has not been implemented in the campus environment as evidenced by the large number of male leaders and the lack of access for women in terms of education and information. The conclusion is that gender equality is very important. To make this happen, it is necessary to carry out various actions such as campaigns and disseminating information through social media in order to raise awareness within each individual.

Abstract

Developing human resources became important to support development programs. Indeed, what kind of human resources we should develop is it quality. It means, every person must to be get trained to gains skills in practicing profession wich is supporting the development programs. Condition when there is a gap between human resources quality and quantity surely became a problem in this process. When quantity of human resources increasing while it quality changeless or even decreasing, then the burden amount of human resources will be increased. The burdens are untrained human resources or a human resources without quality. Therefore, to re-enforce the development process, there must be a balance between quality and quantity of human resources. The development of human resources quality should be happen at companies which is employing people. Especially, on training period before people start to be a worker. Then the quality of human resources could be developed there in order to use all of those developed human resources quality to support development of country, or the Sustainable Development.

Abstract

Demo stands for demonstration which refers to the act or process of showing, demonstrating, or explaining something to others. It can be a live action or a presentation to illustrate how something works, how a product or service is used, or how a concept or idea is implemented. A demonstration is an act or attempt to show or demonstrate something, whether in the context of expressing an opinion, spraying a message, or conveying information to a public audience. Demonstrations are often conducted by groups or individuals to create awareness, influence change, or communicate a particular message. This research has several main objectives, namely to understand the initial chronology that led PMII to conduct a demonstration at the Lumajang district government office, the district government's reaction or response to the protest against the Lumajang regent and the chairman of the DPRD, the content of the messages conveyed by PMII during the demonstration, and the efforts or solutions proposed to overcome the problem. The research methods used include news analysis and field research.

Abstract

This research focuses on the employment contract relationship between land-owning farmers and farm workers in Klompangan Village, Ajung District. The goal is to understand how land ownership and management structures affect life and the economy of both. Agriculture in Klompangan Village acts as a provider of employment and a source of income, as well as an important element in the social and economic structure. The research method uses a qualitative approach with case studies, involving field observations and in-depth interviews with farmers who own land and farm workers. The research results show a symbiotic relationship between the two. Farmers who own land need farm laborers to work on land they cannot work on themselves, while farm laborers need access to the land to earn income. This mutual dependence affects the well-being and economy of both, including income, living conditions, and job security. The ultimate goal of this research is to provide insight into how agricultural workers can prosper with fair wage distribution and cooperation between both parties in the rural agricultural sector, which contributes to stability and shared prosperity.

Abstract

Jubung Village is a rural community located in Sukorambi Prefecture, Jember District. The research emphasizes the importance of the role of village devices inining social stability and providing public services in Jubung Village. The village system plays a crucial role in managing the governance of the village and improving the well-being of the community. However, they also face challenges and complexities in carrying out their duties and functions. In the village development perspective, the role of the village device becomes a key element in achieving the goals of sustainable development. This study uses the structural theory of functionalism proposed by Talcott Parsons. Society is seen by this theory as a system of interrelated parts to stability and balance. The purpose of this research is to find out how the role of village devices inining social stability and providing public service in Jubung Village. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research. The results of this research show that the Jubung Village device performs its role inining social stability and providing public service well.

Abstract

Street buskers on Sudirman Street, Patrang District, Jember Regency are one of the buskers who use angklung musical instruments as their medium to earn income in their daily lives. This study aims to determine the individual lives of angklung buskers on Sudirman Street, Patrang, Jember by using qualitative methods and primary data sources obtained directly. Data collection techniques used through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study explain that there are factors driving individuals to choose to work as angklung buskers rather than choosing other jobs. The things that underlie individuals working as angklung buskers are supported by the low economic background of the individual and the individual's hobby of angklung music. The activities of this Jember angklung busker begin in the morning until the evening with an income of around Rp. 50,000 / day. In the phenomenon of angklung buskers in Jember, it can be seen that individuals have certain reasons for living their daily lives as angklung buskers. On the one hand, as the general public we cannot give bad assumptions to individuals who work as angklung buskers or other types of buskers without knowing the background of the individual concerned.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze Minang advice proverbs pragmatically and syntactically. Minang advice proverbs pragmatically have a distinctive meaning, and syntactically can be analyzed by complexity type, voice and mood. The research method uses qualitative-quantitative. With the research theory of Searle (1969) and Bach Harnish (1979), the theory used is to analyze the speech act function of Minang Kabau advice proverbs based on locution, illocutionary perlocution, felicity function and directive derivative function and communicative function of meaning of Minang Kabau advice proverbs to syntactic function. The data is sourced from a book by Idrus Hakim entitled "Petatah -Petitih Bahasa Minang" and research by Iqbal Sahib Dishar and Marwa Ali Qassim entitled "Pragmalinguistics Study of the Speech act of Warning in Arabic Health Proverbs". The results show that the proverbs of advice are articulated as the interests of the listener rather than the speaker of the proverb. Advice is indirectly expressed through pragmatic analysis of communicative and directive function sentences through two types of sentences: multilevel compounding

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology brings changes to Indonesian society, especially social media. The existence of a beautiful campus account is a digital media that continues to grow and has many followers. This account displays a series of photos of beautiful female students with various beauty standards and demands in them. The more this account develops, the more it will shape the construction of beauty in society. However, behind that there are admins who get profits in the form of royalties from the endorsements that come in through the account. Therefore, this sensitive issue creates pros and cons among students because it is considered a form of business that is carried out by taking advantage of beautiful women. The purpose of this research is to find out the construction of beauty that exists in society and their definition of beauty. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The research results show various responses regarding beautiful campus accounts and viewing beauty as an objective things.
