Abstract

This study aims to describe the representation of patriotic character in Tere Liye’s novel Tanah Para Bandit using Louis J. Halle’s theory, which includes four main dimensions: loyalty, sacrifice, civic responsibility, and moral integrity. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach with content analysis techniques applied to narrative excerpts, dialogues, and character actions. The results show that patriotic values are strongly reflected in the main character, who is portrayed as principled, self-sacrificing, and highly aware of the nation’s welfare. The element of loyalty appears in the protagonist’s commitment to social justice. Sacrifice is evident in the courage to face danger for the sake of the oppressed. Civic responsibility is expressed through the character’s moral conduct and social solidarity, while moral integrity emerges in the unwavering stance for truth and justice. In conclusion, Tanah Para Bandit represents a modern form of patriotism rooted not only in nationalism but also in moral and social consciousness. These values make the novel suitable as literary teaching material for senior high school students, as it fosters a sense of national pride and civic responsibility.

Abstract

As a way to transition between traditional values ​​and individual freedom in choosing a partner, this study examines the phenomenon of Paru Dheko (elopement), which is still common in Nabe Village, Maukaro District, Ende Regency. The purpose of this study is to examine the causes of Paru Dheko and its impact on the community, as well as its impact on culturally based family consultation and counseling services in the surrounding area. The methodology used in this study is descriptive qualitative, with 20 participants consisting of traditional leaders, village officials, and Paru Dheko actors. Miles and Huberman's interactive model was used to analyze data collected from semi-structured interviews, observations, and document studies. The findings indicate that premarital pregnancy (10%), financial constraints (25%), differences in lineage (30%), and lack of parental consent (35%) are the main causes of Paru Dheko. Although the majority of the community believes that Paru Dheko is contrary to traditional and religious values, some still consider it a solution in certain social situations. This incident, which impacts family harmony and the symbolic value of dowries, represents a conflict between traditional values ​​and the needs of contemporary society. This study highlights the need for culturally specific family counseling services in indigenous communities to foster intergenerational communication and prevent nontraditional marriage practices.

Abstract

In today’s communication-driven workforce, vocational students must possess strong oral communication skills alongside technical expertise. This study investigates English teachers' perceptions of Project-Based Learning (PBL) as a pedagogical approach to enhance speaking skills in vocational high schools. Grounded in constructivist theory of PBL model, the research employed a descriptive qualitative method through semi-structured interviews with four English teachers in Jember. The findings reveal that teachers generally perceive PBL as effective in fostering oral communication due to its emphasis on real-world application, collaboration, and student autonomy. However, significant challenges were identified, including limited teacher experience with PBL, student reluctance to speak, and a need for structured reflection strategies. Teachers proposed adaptive strategies to support engagement and reflection, showing a willingness to integrate PBL more fully with appropriate support. The study underscores the importance of professional development, curriculum flexibility, and institutional support to optimize PBL implementation, affirming its significant role in equipping vocational students with essential communication skills for their future careers.

Abstract

Late childhood through early adolescence is a crucial period of psychosocial development, during which individuals begin to form self-identities, develop more complex social relationships, and build resilience and mental well-being. In elementary schools, the School Health Unit (UKS) plays a strategic role in shaping students' character and healthy behaviors. One example is the Tiwisada Cadre program, which involves young health cadres trained to assist with promotive and preventive activities within the school environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in prosocial behavior, resilience, and mental well-being between UKS Tiwisada cadres and non-Tiwisada cadres at SDN Panggungrejo 04 Kepanjen. This study used an ex post facto approach, which is methodologically similar to experimental research that tests hypotheses. However, in ex post facto research, the researcher does not administer any specific treatment or manipulation, as the event occurred prior to the study. The population in this study were all students at SDN Panggungrejo 04 Kepanjen, Malang Regency, who have the Tiwisada Cadre extracurricular program. The sample size was 104 students, with each group consisting of 52 Tiwisada Cadres and 52 non-Tiwisada Cadres. The results showed that there were significant differences in prosocial behavior, resilience, and mental well-being between Tiwisada UKS cadres and non-cadres. Tiwisada cadres tended to have different results in terms of prosocial behavior, resilience, and mental well-being that were higher than non-cadres. The conclusion of this study is that there are significant differences in prosocial behavior, resilience, and mental well-being between Tiwisada UKS cadres and non-cadres. Cadres showed higher levels of prosocial behavior, resilience, and mental well-being than non-cadres.

Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of volleyball extracurricular activities on prosocial behavior, resilience, and physical fitness among vocational high school students. A quantitative quasi-experimental design was applied with a sample of 100 students from SMK PGRI Kasembon, divided equally into an experimental group (volleyball extracurricular participants) and a control group (non-participants). Data were collected through questionnaires assessing prosocial behavior and resilience, as well as the bleep test for physical fitness (VO₂max). Statistical analysis indicated three key findings: first, no significant differences were observed in prosocial behavior between the two groups; second, resilience was significantly higher in the experimental group compared to the control group; and third, students involved in volleyball extracurricular activities demonstrated significantly better physical fitness levels. These results suggest that while volleyball extracurricular activities may not directly enhance prosocial behavior, they play an essential role in strengthening resilience and improving physical health. The findings highlight the importance of integrating sports-based extracurricular programs into school curricula to support students’ psychological development and physical well-being.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology in Indonesia has created an urgent need for skilled digital talent. Formal schools often find it difficult to adapt their curricula to the dynamics of the industry, so non-formal training institutions such as Startup Campus have emerged as a solution. Startup Campus, which collaborates with the Kampus Merdeka program and is registered as an official Vocational Training Institution (LPK) by the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP), serves to bridge the skills gap between education and industry. This study aims to analyze how BNSP certification builds the legitimacy of the Startup Campus training program as well as the internal quality standards and quality communication strategies used. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data was collected from public documents and promotional materials. The results show that the combination of BNSP certification as an external quality assurance and the implementation of internal quality standards such as industry-based curricula, instructor qualifications, and effective learning methods, enhances the reputation and trustworthiness of the institution among prospective participants. Clear communication about quality, including information about certification and graduate experiences, greatly influences the perceptions of prospective industry partners. These findings highlight the importance of communication strategies in building the reputation of digital training institutions and contribute to the literature on non-formal education quality management in Indonesia. Further research is recommended to involve primary data in order to explore the effectiveness of reciprocal communication strategies in greater depth.

Abstract

The Gren Mahe ceremony in Sikka Tana Ai is a traditional ritual that plays a crucial role in sustaining rice cultivation while representing the spiritual, social, and ecological relationships of agrarian communities. However, modernization and social change have posed challenges, leading to a decline in community participation and a shift in the symbolic meanings embedded within the ritual. This study aims to analyze the symbolic meanings and functions of the Gren Mahe ceremony in the context of local food preservation and to examine its relevance amid contemporary sociocultural dynamics. The research employs a symbolic ethnographic approach, consisting of three main stages: pre-research, field research, and post-research. Data collection techniques include participant observation, in-depth interviews with traditional elders, farmers, and community members, as well as documentation of the ritual. The data are analyzed using symbolic interpretation and triangulation methods to ensure validity. The findings are expected to contribute academically to cultural anthropology studies, provide strategic recommendations for food security policies based on local wisdom, and produce a scientific article published in a nationally accredited journal. Thus, this research reinforces the position of the Gren Mahe tradition as a cultural heritage that remains relevant for sustaining food security among the Sikka Tana Ai community.

Abstract

The phenomenon of cyberbullying has emerged as a negative consequence of the global expansion of social media usage, which can affect all groups, including celebrities who often become the center of media attention. The widespread use of social media makes it easier for individuals to leave comments or opinions without clear boundaries, often violating social norms and values. This is closely related to the principle of Human Rights, particularly Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), which addresses the freedom of expression. This study uses the library research method, analyzing the phenomenon of cyberbullying experienced by celebrity Liam Payne from a Human Rights perspective. Data is analyzed through data reduction, data display, and data verification, sourced from e-books and e-journals. The main objective of this research is to provide a deeper understanding of the phenomenon of cyberbullying and link it to the freedom of expression rights outlined in human rights law. This research also aims to educate readers on the importance of creating a safer and healthier social media environment, free from the fear of experiencing online bullying (cyberbullying). By understanding the Human Rights concept related to freedom of expression, it is hoped that society will engage more responsibly on social media and reduce instances of cyberbullying among celebrities and the general public.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe the aspects that are supervised by the head master in an effort to help improve teacher professionalism, approaches to academic supervision, academic supervision techniques, describe the steps of academic supervision, describe the problem faced in supervision. Academics by the principal in an effort to help efforts to help improve teacher professionali at SMPN 26 Palembang in teaching. This study use a qualitative method. Data colletion techniques are interviews, observation and documentation. Date wew analyzed using interview analysis techniques, observation and documentation. The results show that it shows that teacher are already good at teaching but must be even more active in using ICT in information and communication technology in learning to improve their professionalism an professional teacher. Either with professional improvement training or training held by the Ministry of education  or the head of SMPN 26 Palembang. Because a teacher who is said to be a professional is a teacher who meets standar requirements both in term of academics, competence, profession, and performance as a teacher.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Excellence Class program as an effort to improve the quality of education at SD Negeri Sungai Nepal. The Excellence Class is a strategic initiative designed to provide enriched learning experiences, foster students’ potential, and create a competitive academic atmosphere. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with school leaders, teachers, students, and parents, supported by classroom observations and document analysis. The findings reveal that the Excellence Class has contributed significantly to enhancing students’ academic achievement, critical thinking skills, and motivation to learn. Teachers reported improved classroom management and the ability to implement innovative learning strategies that align with the independent curriculum. Furthermore, parental involvement increased through regular communication and collaborative activities, which strengthened the school–community partnership. Despite these positive outcomes, several challenges remain, including limited learning resources, varying teacher readiness, and the need for continuous professional development to maintain program sustainability. The study concludes that the Excellence Class program serves as an effective model for improving educational quality when supported by strong leadership, adequate resources, and active stakeholder participation. Recommendations include regular program evaluation, targeted teacher training, and increased investment in learning facilities to ensure long-term success and replicability in other schools.
