Abstract

This research was conducted for the purpose of identifying the character of emo (emotional hardcore) music performances and their relationship to the emotional situation of the audience watching them, especially in the case of a music group in Indonesia named for Revenge. This qualitative research, which relies on document studies, observations and interviews, found that this underground group with an emo (emotional hardcore) character, with themes of inner conflict, suffering and rebellion, especially in matters of love, deserves to label itself as "for revenge” or “untuk balas dendam” in Indonesian. Apart from being musically aesthetic, the emo lyrics created in many cases are truly capable of piercing the deepest hearts of audiences who have experienced love problems. In today's era of social media, this group is favored by a fairly large segment of the youth market. This means that in Indonesia for Revenge has increasingly succeeded in blurring the boundaries between underground entities and the popular music industry.

Abstract

The advent of digital technologies has revolutionized the way music is created, shared, and experienced, thereby enabling a new era of boundless creation through virtual music. This study explores how the convergence of digital tools, virtual platforms, and global connectivity has transformed the landscape of music production, fostering unprecedented opportunities for collaboration across borders, cultures, and genres. Musicians, producers, and composers can now create, record, and perform together in virtual spaces regardless of their physical location. By leveraging cloud-based software, real-time collaboration tools, and virtual instruments, creators are no longer limited by geographical constraints, allowing for more diverse, innovative, and experimental work. The study also examines the impact of virtual music on the global music industry, including its role in democratizing access to music production, expanding audience reach, and reshaping traditional models of distribution and performance. Ultimately, the fusion of virtual music and global collaboration has opened new avenues for artistic expression, cross- cultural exchange, and creative freedom.

Abstract

Nginang is the habit of chewing betel leaves and other herbs, such as lime, gambier, areca nut, and tobacco. Nginang has been practiced by people in Southeast Asian countries and parts of Southern China since the 15th century AD. Currently, nginang habit in Indonesia has decreased, which can be caused by many factors. The custom of nginang in Indonesia, especially in Bali, has meaning in various rituals, such as in Balinese puppetry. Nginang functions as a social and theological means of Balinese Dharma Pewayangan Bali. The purpose of this study is to explore the social-theological meaning and existence of the nginang custom for puppeteer in Bali. This is a qualitative study, where primary data is obtained through interviews and observations, while secondary data is obtained through literature review. The conclusion from this study is that nginang is a theological symbol that unites spiritual and social aspects in the life of Balinese puppeteers who must master various arts and the Dharma of Balinese puppetry. Nginang can control words, actions, peace, and harmony during the performance and daily life of the dalang. Nginang should continue to the young generations of puppeteers in order to master the various arts and Dharma of Balinese puppetry.

Abstract

This study evaluates the implementation of Geographical Indication (GI) protection for Batik Lasem, focusing on its impact, challenges, and potential improvements. While GI certification has bolstered artisans' confidence by providing legal safeguards, limited understanding of its protection scope such as motif preservation and violation reporting procedures—hinders its effectiveness. Artisans express concerns over plagiarism and inadequate support in addressing violations, highlighting the need for targeted education and clear reporting mechanisms. Using qualitative methods, including interviews with artisans and MPIG members and document analysis, the research identifies gaps in community knowledge and enforcement practices. Findings emphasize the necessity of intensive training and stronger collaboration between MPIG, government, and artisans to optimize GI's protective function. By enhancing community participation and refining implementation strategies, this study offers actionable recommendations to strengthen Batik Lasem’s cultural heritage and market positioning, ensuring sustainable benefits for the local ecosystem.
