Abstract

This study is a systematic review of 26 articles published between 2017 and 2024, focusing on misconceptions in science education within Indonesian schools. Misconceptions, defined as persistent misunderstandings that hinder effective learning, are a significant barrier to students' scientific literacy. The research employs the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, following the PRISMA model, to synthesize findings and address key research questions regarding these misconceptions. The analysis reveals that the majority of misconceptions were identified in 2023, accounting for 27% of the total findings, with a notable prevalence at the high school level (50%), followed by junior high (31%) and elementary schools (19%). In terms of subjects, physics misconceptions dominate at 50%, followed by chemistry (31%) and biology (19%). Geographically, East Java emerges as a hotspot for these misconceptions, representing 27% of the cases analyzed. This research contributes to the field of science education by highlighting critical areas where misconceptions occur, particularly in physics at the high school level. By identifying these misconceptions, educators can develop targeted interventions to enhance teaching strategies and improve overall student comprehension in science, ultimately fostering better scientific literacy among Indonesian students.

Abstract

Scientific reasoning becomes a prerequisite skill for studying science. The fact is that this ability, especially at the junior high school level, is relatively low. One learning model that can be applied to overcome this problem is inquiry-based, evidence-based reasoning. This type of research is a one-group pretest-posttest design with a sample of 102 students taken by the purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a two-tier multiple-choice test based on scientific reasoning indicators. The results of the study were analyzed using the N-gain test, and a value of 0.6 was obtained, or it could be concluded that there was an increase in students' scientific reasoning in the moderate category. An ANOVA test was also carried out, and a significance value of 0.258 > 0.05 was obtained, which indicated that there was no significant difference between groups or that the EBR model had a consistent impact on increasing students' scientific reasoning. Each indicator of scientific reasoning also experienced an increase in the moderate category. The existence of this research can be of particular concern to educators as they continue to train scientific reasoning abilities in various natural science materials so that a scientific mindset is formed in students.

Abstract

Practicum and laboratory activities cannot be taken from biology learning. Activities require LaboratoryActivity Designs and Student Worksheets as instructions for their implementation. Based on the results ofa field study) that student worksheet measured in the field has several problems. Therefore, to overcomethis, an in-depth analysis and reconstruction of student worksheet is needed. This study aims to describethe results of the analysis, trials and reconstruction of student worksheet osmosis to meet the requirementsof the 2013 curriculum. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a sample of 8 studentworksheet from the 2004 curriculum, school based curriculum and 2013 curriculum. The selected studentworksheet uses purposive sampling technique. The research instrument used was in the form of practicalanalysis, knowledge construction, and the relevance of the curriculum and content. Based on the results ofthe relevance analysis, most of the student worksheet are relevant to the curriculum. From the aspect ofknowledge construction, student worksheet cannot yet describe the development of student skills. Theresults of the reconstruction that have been made have been assessed by experts. Abstract

One of the scientific approach activities is asking questions but not every student is actively asking questionswhich can trigger curiosity about learning. This study aims to measure the making questions ability of fifth-grade elementary school students in the city of Bandar Lampung on the subject matter of respiratory organsand functions in animals and humans. This descriptive survey research used a multistage cluster samplingarea combined with the stratification. The design of this research is cross-sectional. The type of data in thisstudy is quantitative data obtained by measuring the ability of students in making questions and the resultswill be interpreted in the form of a percentage which is then categorized based on the category of students'ability in making questions. The making questions ability of students in this study can be measured accordingto the indicators of assessing the quality of the questions. The results of the calculation of the data that havebeen obtained show that the ability of grade V elementary school students in making questions is in highcategory with a final percentage of 70.97%. The results of quality of student questions based on 4 indicatorsobtained the percentage from the highest to the lowest, which is 24.6% on the focus indicator, 17.1% onthe grammar indicator, 15.6% on the relevance indicator, and 13.6% on the cognitive level indicator. Thecognitive level is influenced by age and level of education, grammar is influenced by the limited vocabularyfactor that is owned. It can be concluded that the difficult to arrange questions with good and correctvocabulary relevance with influenced of students' inability to think more critically and deeply so it is difficultfor them to make questions that are relevant to everyday life or other fields of science and the focus isinfluenced by interesting learning media and interactive learning methods

Abstract

Solving science problems theoretically is sometimes difficult for students to do. This is because students have never been in direct contact with science problems. This study aims to develop student live worksheets based on problem based learning on optical instrument chapter The research method used reffered to the research and development by Sugiyono. This model has steps consisting of 10 steps: (1) Potential and problems, (2) Data collection, (3) Product design, (4) Design validation, (5) Design revision, (6) Product trial, (7) Product Revision, (8) Usage Trial, (9) Product Revision, and (10) Mass production. This research was only carried out until the seventh step. This study used data collection techniques in the form of interviews and questionnaires and used qualitative and quantitative descriptive data analysis techniques. The results of the validity of the student live worksheet had been declared very valid based on the results of the validation of the learning material experts who obtained a score of 85% with a very valid category, and media experts obtained a score of 77.08% with a very valid category. In addition, the student work sheet was declared very practical with a value of 97.22% without revision. Based on the students' responses, they scored 91.67% in the very good category. Based on these data, it can be said that the student live worksheet Based on Problem Based Learning on Optical Instrument chapter stated to be very valid and practical to be used as science teaching material in schools.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of an integrated Civic Education (PKn)-Science learning model on developing Science Process Skills (SPS) through a Civic-Scientific Literacy (CSL) approach in eighth-grade students. A non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group quasi-experimental design was applied to 64 students at SMP Negeri X Bengkulu. SPK data collection was conducted through tests, analyzed using ANCOVA, while CSL was evaluated using a rubric. The results showed that the integrated PKn-Science learning model significantly improved students' SPK (F=32.10, p<0.001, ηp2=0.347) compared to the control group. This model was also effective in facilitating the development of students' CSL, as evidenced by improvements in their ability to understand socio-scientific issues, evaluate evidence, engage in ethical-social reasoning, and participate in argumentation. A positive and significant correlation was also found between improvements in CSL and KPS (r=0.68, p<0.001), confirming the synergistic relationship between the two. This study concludes that integrating Civic Education and Science through the CSL approach is an effective strategy for fostering scientifically literate students and responsible citizens
