AN-NAHDLOH: Journal of Education and Islamic Studies, published by the Master of Islamic Religious Education (MPAI) Postgraduate Program, Raden Rahmat Islamic University (UNIRA) Malang. Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning based on religious moderation through the commemoration of Isra’ Mi’raj and the celebration of Christmas at SMAN 2 Tuban. The research applies a descriptive qualitative approach conducted in a public senior high school with students from diverse religious backgrounds. Primary data were collected through interviews with the Head of OSIS and the Head of ROHIS, while additional data were obtained from documentation and literature review. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using an interactive model consisting of data processing, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the implementation of religious moderation in PAI learning is manifested through inclusive and educative religious activities. The commemoration of Isra’ Mi’raj strengthens spiritual values and fosters attitudes of tawassuth (moderation), tasamuh (tolerance), and tawazun (balance). On the other hand, the Christmas celebration provides opportunities for Christian and Catholic students to worship according to their beliefs, while simultaneously encouraging mutual respect among students from different religious backgrounds. The internalization process occurs through cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects supported by school culture and teachers’ role modeling. This study contributes to the development of relevant religious moderation practices in educational institutions and emphasizes the importance of sustainable habituation in shaping tolerant student character.   Keywords: Religious Moderation, Islamic Religious Education, Christmas Celebration, Tolerance, Isra’ Mi’raj

Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth how the values of Islam Nusantara are internalized through Javanese campursari music in the Haul tradition of Sunan Ngeseng in Gesing, Semanding, Tuban. This study is considered relevant because the haul tradition is understood not merely as a religious ritual practice but also as a cultural space that integrates religious and cultural dimensions into community life. In this context, Javanese campursari music serves not only as entertainment but also as a medium for conveying Islamic messages that reflect the process of acculturation between Islamic teachings and local wisdom. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon under study. Data were collected through direct observation of the haul implementation, interviews with community leaders and campursari performers, and supported by documentation and a relevant literature review. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Javanese campursari music in the Haul tradition of Sunan Ngeseng plays a significant role as a medium for internalizing the values of Islam Nusantara. Values such as monotheism (tawhid), moral formation, and respect for religious scholars are conveyed through lyrics, musical elements, and cultural symbols that are closely tied to the community's daily life. The integration of performing arts and religious rituals reflects the characteristics of Islam Nusantara, which are inclusive, adaptive, and harmonious with local culture. Abstract

The manganan tradition in Prunggahan Kulon Village, Semanding District, is a cultural heritage that has been passed down from generation to generation as an expression of community gratitude, particularly before the planting season or after harvest. Its implementation involves several stages, starting from cooperation in preparation for the main activities such as communal prayers and shared meals, which reflect values of togetherness, solidarity, and harmonious social interaction. In addition, this tradition is enriched with local cultural elements and religious practices, such as Javanese chants and collective prayers, creating a sacred atmosphere while strengthening social bonds among community members. Furthermore, the manganan tradition illustrates a process of acculturation between local culture and Islamic values that occurs harmoniously without eliminating the community’s cultural identity. This tradition not only serves as a means of cultural preservation but also functions as a medium for social and religious education, especially for the younger generation. However, its sustainability faces challenges due to modernization and changing lifestyles. Therefore, adaptive preservation efforts are needed through the use of technology, the involvement of community leaders, and integration into educational activities so that the manganan tradition remains sustainable and relevant in contemporary society.   Keywords: Manganan Tradition, Local Wisdom, Islamic Acculturation, Social Values, Cultural Preservation

Abstract

The dynamics of the teaching and learning process in Islamic Education (PAI) demand more interactive methods to prevent student boredom. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of implementing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in PAI learning at SD 4 Banda Aceh. This research utilized a quantitative approach with a pretest-posttest control group design, involving fifth-grade students as subjects. Data collection was conducted through pretests and posttests. Data analysis included the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing via the Independent Sample t-Test, assisted by the SPSS version 23 application. The results indicated an improvement in student learning outcomes within the experimental class, which utilized the Problem-Based Learning model, compared to the control class that employed conventional learning methods. This is evidenced by the experimental class's average N-Gain score of 52.08%, which falls into the moderately effective category, whereas the control class only achieved 19.02%, falling into the ineffective category. Furthermore, the hypothesis testing using the Independent Sample t-Test on the N-Gain values showed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05. Consequently, H0 is rejected, and Ha is accepted, meaning that the application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model significantly affects student learning outcomes on the topic of almsgiving (sedekah) in the fifth grade of SD 4 Banda Aceh. This model can be used as an alternative to enhance the quality of innovative and relevant learning in Islamic Education. Abstract

The research aims to analyze the history of Syaikh Rifa’i’s da'wah in strengthening the cultural Islamic values of the community in Kedungsari Tuwiri Wetan, Merakurak, Tuban Regency. This research uses a qualitative approach with a historical research design. Data were obtained through interviews with community leaders, the caretaker of Syaikh Rifa’i’s tomb, and residents, as well as through observation and documentation. The data were analyzed using an interactive analysis model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while the validity of the data was ensured through source and method triangulation. The results of the study show that Syaikh Rifa’i’s da'wah was carried out through social and cultural approaches that adapted to the conditions of the local community. This approach did not eliminate local traditions but integrated Islamic values into the cultural practices of the community. This process of da'wah formed various cultural Islamic values, such as religiosity, togetherness, cooperation, tolerance, and good morals within the community. These values continue to be passed down through religious traditions such as pengajian, tahlilan, and pilgrimage to the tomb. Therefore, the history of Syaikh Rifa’i’s da'wah plays an important role in strengthening a cultural Islamic identity that is religious, harmonious, and aligned with the local wisdom of the Kedungsari Tuwiri Wetan Merakurak community. Abstract

Pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) di era kontemporer menghadapi tantangan serius terkait rendahnya keterhubungan antara ajaran normatif agama dan realitas kehidupan peserta didik. Kondisi ini menuntut pendekatan pembelajaran yang tidak hanya mentransmisikan pengetahuan, tetapi juga memfasilitasi proses pemaknaan yang relevan secara sosial, kultural, dan edukatif. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan merumuskan konsep teoretis model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) dalam pembelajaran PAI sebagai pendekatan yang berorientasi pada pengalaman, makna, dan proses sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi pustaka, yang menelaah secara kritis berbagai sumber akademik berupa buku, artikel jurnal, dan dokumen ilmiah yang relevan dengan CTL dan pendidikan Islam. Data dikumpulkan melalui analisis dokumen dan dianalisis secara tematik untuk mengidentifikasi pola makna, kerangka konseptual, serta implikasi pedagogis dari penerapan CTL dalam konteks PAI. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa CTL berfungsi sebagai kerangka pembelajaran yang mampu mengintegrasikan teks keagamaan dengan konteks kehidupan nyata peserta didik, sehingga mendorong pembelajaran yang partisipatif, reflektif, dan bermakna. Pendekatan ini memperkuat konstruksi pemahaman keagamaan yang tidak berhenti pada aspek kognitif, tetapi juga membentuk sikap, nilai, dan kesadaran sosial peserta didik. Secara teoretis, penelitian ini memperkaya khazanah pendidikan Islam berbasis paradigma konstruktivistik, sementara secara praktis memberikan rujukan reflektif bagi guru, pengembang kurikulum, dan pengambil kebijakan dalam merancang pembelajaran PAI yang kontekstual dan responsif terhadap dinamika kehidupan modern. Temuan ini sekaligus membuka ruang eksplorasi lanjutan bagi penelitian empirik mengenai implementasi CTL dalam berbagai konteks pendidikan Islam Kata kunci: Internalisasi Nilai; Pembelajaran Bermakna; Pembelajaran Kontekstual; Pendidikan Agama Islam; Pendekatan Konstruktivistik.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of teachers in developing early childhood emotional intelligence in Alam Nurul Islam 2 Ngawi Integrated Islamic Elementary School (SDIT). These researchers draw on the theory of psychologist Daniel Goleman, who argues that emotional intelligence is more important than intellectual intelligence. This study used qualitative research with observational data collection techniques, interviews, and documentation. The results of the data analysis are presented descriptively. The conclusion drawn from this study is that the role of teachers is very important in developing children's emotional intelligence, which includes 5 aspects as expressed by Daniel Golema,n including the role of teachers in building the ability to recognize children's emotions, building the ability to manage children's emotions, building children's self-motivation abilities, building children's empathy abilitiesand, and fostering relationships with others. The results of this study can be concluded that the role of teachers at SDIT Alam Nurul Islam 2 Ngawi has applied 5 aspects in developing early childhood emotional intelligence well.   Keywords: Teacher Role, Emotional Intelligence, Early Childhood

Abstract

Current advances in the medical world have opened up opportunities for people to extend their lives thanks to various innovative health technologies. However, on the other hand, this has also encouraged the emergence of euthanasia as a means to alleviate suffering in terminally ill patients. Euthanasia is a highly debated topic, particularly within Islamic law, as it relates to the right to life and the prohibition of actions that take life. This study aims to explore the definition of euthanasia, its types, and the laws governing its implementation from the perspective of Masā'il Fiqhiyyah. This study adopted a qualitative method with a normative approach through a literature analysis of both classical and contemporary fiqh sources, as well as fatwas issued by Islamic institutions. The research findings indicate that active euthanasia is generally considered haram (forbidden) because it is an act that directly takes life. Meanwhile, passive euthanasia remains a topic of debate among Islamic scholars, particularly in certain situations, such as discontinuing treatment that offers no prospect of recovery. In the context of Islamic jurisprudence (Masā'il Fiqhiyyah), determining the law regarding euthanasia takes into account the maqasid of sharia, particularly in protecting the soul (ḥifẓ al-nafs), as well as the principles of Islamic jurisprudence that emphasize the need to prevent harm rather than achieve benefit. Therefore, the study of euthanasia in Islam requires a comprehensive ijtihad approach to provide solutions to the challenges of modern medicine without neglecting Sharia principles.   Keywords: Euthanasia, Contemporary Fiqh, Masā’il Fiqhiyyah, Maqashid Sharia

Abstract

This study aims to examine inclusivity policies in Islamic vocational schools, analyze teachers' understanding of social justice, and examine the accountability system for inclusivity achievements. The method used was a qualitative single-case study approach at SMK Kesatrian Purwokerto. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, limited participant observation, and document review. Informants were selected purposively, consisting of the vice principal for curriculum as key informants, educators, parents of children with special needs (ABK), and regular students as supporting informants. The results of the study revealed three main findings. First, inclusive policies are reactive and ceremonial because there is no written policy on anti-discrimination, so incidents are handled incidentally without structured prevention. Second, teachers' understanding of social justice is still low and uneven, characterized by handling of ABK that relies on informal information among teachers without systematic training on inclusive pedagogy. Third, there are no accountability standards to measure inclusivity achievements, considering that the education office does not require inclusivity success indicators in accreditation. This study concludes that the low effectiveness of social justice education in Islamic vocational schools is more due to systemic internal institutional weaknesses than to student resistance to diversity.   Keywords: School Policy, Teacher Competency, Assessment Standards

Abstract

Evaluation is an essential component in the learning process, as it determines the effectiveness of instruction. This study aimed to analyze the quality of test items in the final semester of Islamic Religious Education for Grade VIII. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed to examine test quality, including construct and empirical validity, reliability, difficulty level, discrimination index, and distractor effectiveness. The subjects were 179 Grade VIII students. Data were collected by documenting items and answer sheets and analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 27 and ANATES V4. The results indicated that cognitively, items were dominated by levels C3 (45%), C2 (35%), and C4 (25%), were no items at levels C1, C5, and C6. Empirically, all items were 100% valid, with a value of 0,146. The reliability coefficient was 0,717, indicating acceptable reliability. The difficulty level was mostly moderate (65%) and easy (35%), with no difficult items. The discrimination index ranged from good to very good (50% each). Half of the distractors functioned effectively, while the rest required improvement. Therefore, the test is feasible for use with revisions in distractor quality and cognitive level distribution.   Keywords: Assessment Sumative Evaluation, Item Quality, Islamic Religious Education
