AN-NAHDLOH: Journal of Education and Islamic Studies, published by the Master of Islamic Religious Education (MPAI) Postgraduate Program, Raden Rahmat Islamic University (UNIRA) Malang. Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Guidance and Counseling services at SMP Negeri 1 Telukjambe Timur based on the perceptions of teachers and students. The research employed a qualitative approach using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The findings reveal that counseling services are implemented through several forms, including classroom guidance, individual counseling, group counseling, and occasional home visits for specific cases. Guidance counselors were perceived as responsive in addressing students’ problems such as social conflicts, learning difficulties, and bullying. However, the services remain predominantly curative and reactive, while preventive and developmental programs have not been optimally carried out due to the limited number of counselors compared to the large student population. Students expressed positive perceptions toward counseling services, feeling supported, comfortable, and protected. Nevertheless, they expect broader preventive programs to reach all students. The study concludes that strengthening preventive strategies, system support, and collaborative efforts among school stakeholders is essential to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of counseling services. Abstract

Effective learning planning requires teachers to design learning processes that are systematic, creative, and aligned with students’ needs. The ADDIE model is one of the most systematic and flexible instructional design frameworks, used to assist educators in planning and evaluating learning processes effectively. This study aims to analyze the application of the ADDIE model in planning and designing innovative learning through a literature review approach. The review was conducted by examining various scholarly sources, including journals, books, and previous research related to instructional design development. The analysis revealed that the ADDIE model enhances learning effectiveness by providing clear guidance from needs identification, strategy design, and media development to learning evaluation. Its implementation is also relevant to 21st-century learning characteristics, emphasizing creativity, collaboration, and the integration of digital technology. However, challenges such as limited time, inadequate resources, and teachers’ pedagogical competence remain obstacles in its practical application. Therefore, continuous professional training and supportive educational policies are essential to promote innovative learning. Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Prophets’ Story Puzzle learning model in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) lesson planning and to analyze its effectiveness in enhancing students’ motivation and understanding of Islamic values. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach, involving Islamic Education teachers and ninth-grade students at a Madrasah Tsanawiyah (Islamic junior high school). Data were collected through classroom observation, in-depth interviews, and analysis of students’ worksheets. Data analysis followed Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings revealed that the implementation of the Prophets’ Story Puzzle significantly improved students’ engagement and motivation, increasing participation from 60% to 83% and the average understanding of Islamic values from 68 to 84. Students demonstrated strong emotional involvement and were able to relate the stories of the Prophets, such as Abraham, Joseph, and Noah, to real-life experiences. This model also supports Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) by fostering collaboration, critical thinking, and deeper spiritual reflection. Therefore, the Prophets’ Story Puzzle model is proven relevant as an innovative approach to modern Islamic Religious Education, integrating cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects harmoniously, and transforming PAI learning into an enjoyable, contextual, and meaningful experience.   Keywords: Islamic Religious Education, Prophets’ Story Puzzle, Learning Innovation, CTL, Islamic Values

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education in public schools situated within pesantren environments requires a learning approach capable of integrating national curriculum demands with the religious values embedded in pesantren culture. This study aims to analyze the integration of the Merdeka Curriculum into Islamic Religious Education learning with pesantren values at SMPN 3 Peterongan, a public school located in the Darul Ulum Islamic Boarding School area. This research employs a qualitative case study approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and thematic conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Islamic Religious Education is flexible and student-centered, utilizing active learning methods such as project-based learning, reflective discussions, and diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments. Classroom learning is strengthened by school activities such as early-morning Qur’anic sessions, Qur’an literacy training, worship habituation, and the use of digital learning media. In addition, pesantren values are integrated through the boarding school curriculum, monthly classical book studies, gender-separated classrooms, etiquette habituation, discipline, communal cooperation, and the moral exemplification of pesantren teachers. The study concludes that integrating the Merdeka Curriculum with pesantren values results in a holistic and contextual Islamic Religious Education model. This integration not only supports academic achievement but also strengthens students’ religious character, making it a relevant and effective model for Islamic education in public schools with pesantren characteristics.   Keywords: Merdeka Curriculum, Islamic Religious Education, Pesantren Value, Learning Integration, Pesantren-Based Public School

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in shaping students’ religious character as an effort to overcome the negative impacts of digital media on elementary school students. The rapid development of digital technology has influenced students’ behavior, learning motivation, communication patterns, and spiritual attitudes, especially at the elementary level, where children are more vulnerable to uncontrolled digital exposure. This study used a descriptive qualitative method conducted at SD Negeri 1 Karanggude. The findings show that the PAI teacher carries out three essential roles as a muallim, murabbi, and muaddib through knowledge transfer, habituation of religious practices, and character cultivation based on Islamic values. Various strategies are employed, including integrating religious values into learning, strengthening daily routines such as prayer and recitation, providing exemplary behavior, and developing emotional closeness with students. These efforts effectively foster students’ religious character and reduce negative digital influences such as reduced discipline, weakened worship habits, and inappropriate communication patterns. The study concludes that the role of the PAI teacher is crucial in guiding students amidst the challenges of the digital era through holistic and value-based character education.   Keywords: Digital media, Islamic religious education teacher, religious character, elementary school, character formation.

Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technology has brought the world into the era of society 5.0, which is an era that is human-oriented and supported by technological advances. This condition requires the world of education, including Islamic Religious Education (PAI), to adapt creatively and innovatively to remain relevant to the needs of the times. This study aims to analyze the concept and strategy of optimizing PAI learning in the era of society 5.0. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive-argumentative approach through literature studies on various scientific sources, including books, national and international journals, and online publications. The results of the study show that PAI optimization in the 5.0 era can be achieved through four main steps, namely: (1) revitalization of the learning system by utilizing digital technology such as Zoom, Google Meet, and Discord; (2) strengthening collaboration between educational elements; (3) the integration of PAI values into general subjects to remove the dichotomy between science and religion; and (4) learning evaluation that not only assesses cognitive aspects but also affective and psychomotor aspects. PAI in the era of society 5.0 must be directed to form students who are not only intellectually intelligent, but also have strong spiritual, moral, and social characters. Thus, technology-based PAI optimization is the key to building a generation that is religious, adaptive, and competent to face global challenges.   Keywords: Islamic Religious Education, Society Era 5.0, Learning Optimization.

Abstract

Life insurance marketed through banking institutions has become a widely used financial instrument in modern society. However, its practice has sparked legal debate among Islamic scholars, particularly regarding the potential presence of gharar, maisir, and usury (riba) in its contractual mechanisms. The differing views of contemporary Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) on the legality of life insurance, both conventional and sharia, indicate the need for a comprehensive study that places this issue within the framework of Islamic transactions. This study aims to analyze the concept and practice of life insurance within banking institutions and review its legal status from a contemporary Islamic jurisprudence perspective. The study was conducted using a library research method by collecting data from classical and contemporary fiqh literature, fatwas from the National Sharia Council (MUI), financial authority regulations, and relevant scientific publications. The analysis was conducted descriptively and analytically to outline the legal issues and assess the conformity of life insurance practices with Sharia principles. The research results show that conventional life insurance still contains the potential for contract ambiguity and speculative elements, while sharia life insurance is considered more in line with the muamalah principle through the use of tabarru', mudharabah, or wakalah bi al-ujrah contracts. From the perspective of maqāṣid al-syarī'ah, the existence of insurance can be accepted as a form of protection for life and property as long as the mechanism is free from prohibited elements. Thus, life insurance in banking institutions can be considered valid according to Sharia if it is built on the principles of transparency, fairness, and trustworthy fund management in accordance with the provisions of contemporary jurisprudence.   Keywords: Life Insurance, Banking, Contemporary Jurisprudence

Abstract

This study aims to describe the formation of students’ religious character through the religious application program at SMPN 3 Peterongan Jombang. This research employs a qualitative case study approach, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, which includes data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the religious application program is systematically structured through activities such as Qur’an reading, surah memorization, daily amaliyah, worship practice, and various religious habituation activities, including the 5S culture, istighotsah, yellow book studies, Islamic commemoration days (PHBI), and the Ramadan short pesantren. This program contributes significantly to the formation of students’ religious character, including improved worship discipline, enhanced understanding of worship procedures, daily moral behavior, and consistent spiritual habits. However, the implementation still faces challenges such as low student discipline, teachers’ tardiness, and the absence of firm sanctions. Nevertheless, the school’s location within a pesantren environment and the integration of the national curriculum with the pesantren curriculum provide strong opportunities to strengthen the program. With improved activity management and continuous guidance, the religious application program has strong potential to optimally and sustainably develop students’ religious character.   Keywords: Religious character, Religious application program, SMPN 3 Peterongan

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the dynamics of today's youth morality, which is influenced by the intensity of social media, self-branding practices, and the weakening of internalized prophetic values in everyday life. This study also examines the role of family, school, and society in building an adaptive digital morality development ecosystem that can respond to the challenges of the modern era. The research method employed is library research, utilizing a descriptive-analytical approach. Data were obtained from books, national and international journals, and scientific articles relevant to the themes of adolescent morality, digital literacy, and values education in Islam. The analysis was conducted by examining the patterns, trends, and theoretical concepts that emerged from various sources. The results of the study show that social media has a significant influence on adolescent behavior and identity construction, especially through the culture of self-branding that encourages self-image orientation. The lack of prophetic role models strengthens adolescents' vulnerability to moral disorientation. The integration of digital literacy, understanding of adolescent psychology, and Islamic values is are important strategy in digital ethics development. Additionally, the synergy between family, school, and community has proven to be a key factor in creating an environment that supports the development of an adolescent character that is responsible and aligned with Islamic values. Abstract

The Society 5.0 era requires Islamic Religious Education (IRE) to adapt and transform through the application of technology, enabling it to respond to the needs of students living in the midst of digital developments. Various obstacles, such as limited digital competence of teachers, unequal access to technology, and low religious digital literacy, demonstrate the importance of more contextual and flexible IRE learning innovations. This study aims to identify forms of technology-based learning innovation, analyze barriers to its implementation, and formulate effective strategies for integrating technology to address challenges in the Society 5.0 era. The research method used is a literature study reviewing various scientific sources, such as journals, books, articles, and online literature published in the last ten years. Thematic content analysis techniques were used to reveal patterns, main issues, and relationships between themes in the process of digitizing PAI learning. The results of the study show that the use of various digital media, such as e-learning platforms, educational Islamic applications, interactive media, learning videos, and gamification systems, can increase student motivation, engagement, and understanding. In addition, digital innovation strengthens critical thinking skills through technology-assisted problem-based learning models. Curriculum updates that integrate technology ethics, blended learning, and inquiry approaches reinforce the relevance of religious education in the digital age. Thus, the application of technology in Islamic education is a strategic step toward shaping students who are spiritual, critical, adaptive, and ready to face the challenges of Society 5.0.   Keywords:  Islamic religious education, innovation in learning, digital literacy, Society 5.0 era
