Abstract

This article examines the phenomenon of cancel culture in the digital media era through the lens of Islamic ethics. Cancel culture, which refers to collective public punishment through social ostracism, online shaming, and reputational destruction, has become a dominant form of moral judgment in contemporary digital interactions. This study uses a conceptual and library research approach by analyzing classical and contemporary Islamic ethical principles, including adab al-ikhtilāf, ḥusn al-ẓann, al-amr bi al-ma‘rūf wa al-nahy ‘an al-munkar, and norms of public morality in Islamic scholarly tradition. The findings indicate that while Islam encourages accountability, moral correction, and the protection of public interest, the practices within cancel culture often contradict Islamic ethical values due to excessive blame, character assassination, absence of verification, and mob-based judgment. The study highlights that Islamic ethics emphasizes proportionality, restorative justice, and moral responsibility rather than punitive social destruction. Therefore, cancel culture reflects a crisis of moral communication rooted in digital anonymity, emotional amplification, and weakened ethical boundaries. This article concludes that Islamic ethical principles can provide a more humane, just, and constructive framework for addressing wrongdoing in digital spaces, preventing moral excesses while promoting responsible public discourse.   Keywords: Cancel culture, digital ethics, Islamic ethics, moral judgment, public morality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using Wordwall as a learning medium in enhancing students’ learning motivation in the Qur’an and Hadith subject for Grade VII at MTs N 3 Banyumas. The research background is rooted in the low learning motivation of students, as indicated by limited active participation, low questioning initiative, and signs of learning fatigue resulting from the dominance of conventional teaching methods. A quantitative approach was employed using a pre-experimental one–group pretest–posttest design. The study involved Grade VII H students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale learning motivation questionnaire and analyzed through validity and reliability testing, followed by inferential statistical analysis to determine the effect of the intervention. The findings demonstrate that the use of Wordwall has a positive and significant impact on improving students’ learning motivation. The interactive features and gamification elements of Wordwall effectively increase students’ attention, engagement and create a more enjoyable learning atmosphere. Overall, Wordwall is considered an effective and innovative learning medium for boosting learning motivation in the Qur’an Hadith subject at MTs N 3 Banyumas. Abstract

This study aims to address the research questions regarding the strategies employed by Akidah Akhlak teachers in strengthening students’ understanding of Asmaul Husna while simultaneously fostering their awareness of muraqabah at MTs Al-Hidayah. The research adopts a qualitative case study approach, using observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. Data were analyzed through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, supported by source and method triangulation. The findings reveal that Akidah Akhlak teachers implement varied, contextual, and interactive learning strategies that effectively enhance students’ deep comprehension of Asmaul Husna. These approaches also prove successful in cultivating muraqabah awareness by integrating spiritual values into students’ daily lives. Group discussions, reflective activities, and the use of visual media emerge as key components contributing to the success of the learning process. Overall, these strategies significantly support the development of students’ spiritual character and self-control. The study implies that innovative and holistic learning approaches are essential for improving the quality of religious education in schools. Abstract

This study aims to elucidate Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas’s concept of integrating science and religion and to analyse its relevance in addressing the moral decadence of Generation Z in Indonesia in the digital era. This study employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive library research method. The findings affirm that al-Attas’s integration is not an additive incorporation of religious values into modern science, but a radical Islamization of contemporary knowledge through the deconstruction of Western secular elements and reconstruction based on the Islamic worldview, with ta’dīb as the core process in forming the adab-oriented person (insān adabī). This framework proves highly relevant and urgent in countering the loss of adab among Generation Z, manifested in high rates of psychological distress, depression, promiscuity, and loss of shame due to exposure to secular and hedonistic information. Implementing ta’dīb-based Islamic education can equip Generation Z with a robust Islamic worldview filter, enabling them to direct technological proficiency toward ma‘rifatullāh and divine pleasure, while becoming a Muslim generation that is mentally resilient and morally noble.   Keywords: Generation Z, integration of science and religion, Moral Decadence, Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas, ta’dīb

Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Physics and Mathematics education has become a strategic necessity in the era of digital transformation. However, the use of advanced technology without a strong value foundation may lead to ethical and spiritual degradation among learners. This study aims to comprehensively examine the concept, models, and challenges of integrating AI in Physics and Mathematics learning based on Qur’anic values. This research employs a library research method with a thematic content analysis approach, drawing on recent and relevant scholarly sources. The findings indicate that AI has significant potential to enhance learning effectiveness through adaptive learning systems, digital simulations, and objective automated assessments. In the context of Physics and Mathematics, AI facilitates the visualization of abstract concepts, strengthens conceptual understanding, and develops students’ logical and systematic thinking skills. The integration of Qur’anic values serves as a spiritual foundation that guides the use of AI in alignment with principles of monotheism, ethics, and moral responsibility. These values reinforce the understanding that science and technology function as means to recognize divine order and foster ethical awareness. This study concludes that AI integration grounded in Qur’anic values can support holistic education that is academically excellent, digitally adaptive, and spiritually grounded, provided that adequate infrastructure, qualified human resources, and value-based educational policies are in place to support it.   Keywords: Artificial Intelligence, Physics Education, Mathematics Education, Qur’anic Values, Digital Transformation.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of childfree from the perspective of contemporary Islamic jurisprudence by analyzing its legal, ethical, and maqasid al-shariah dimensions. The research aims to explore how Islamic law responds to modern reproductive choices, particularly the decision of married couples not to have children permanently or temporarily. Using a qualitative method through library research, data were collected from classical and contemporary fiqh literature, journals, books, and relevant academic sources. The findings show that although classical Islamic scholarship does not address childfree directly, discussions on ‘azl serve as a foundational reference for reproductive regulation. Contemporary scholars extend this discourse by assessing the motives, impacts, and maslahah of childfree decisions. From an ethical standpoint, childfree is permissible when based on mutual agreement, responsibility, and the avoidance of harm. Through the lens of maqasid al-shariah, childfree may be justified if it aims to protect life, mental health, economic stability, or prevent harm to potential offspring. The study concludes that Islam neither mandates nor prohibits having children, and the permissibility of childfree depends on clear, responsible considerations aligned with family welfare and Islamic ethical principles.   Keywords: Childfree, Contemporary Fiqh, Maqasid Shariah

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the critical issues affecting the quality control of education in private schools in Indonesia. In practice, private schools face various structural and operational challenges, ranging from limited human resources to varying quality of teaching staff to disparities in facilities and infrastructure. Furthermore, internal and external quality assurance mechanisms are not functioning optimally due to a lack of monitoring systems, low compliance with National Education Standards (SNP), and weak school management governance. This study uses a descriptive-analytical approach through a review of literature and education policy documents. The analysis shows that improving the quality of private schools requires strengthening school leadership, enhancing teacher professionalism, improving the accreditation system, and providing more stable funding support. Effective quality control relies not only on government regulations but also on collaboration between schools, foundations, parents, and quality assurance institutions. Therefore, strengthening the quality control system comprehensively is expected to improve the quality of education services in private schools and narrow the gap in education quality in Indonesia. Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) has brought about major changes in the way society produces, processes, and disseminates photographs, so that images are no longer viewed as mere visual portraits, but as high-value biometric data that can be used for individual identification, behavioral analysis, and advanced digital manipulation. This article examines the law on taking photographs without permission from a contemporary Islamic jurisprudence perspective, while examining how advances in AI technology increase threats to the privacy and security of personal data stored in facial images. This research produces several important points, namely: photographs as sensitive data, the prohibition of taking photographs without permission, the risks of the AI ​​era, consent and restrictions on use, digital ethics and literacy, protective and preventive approaches. Furthermore, this article outlines the importance of implementing digital ethics as a preventative measure to prevent the misuse of photos in the increasingly complex cyberspace. Through a normative approach and literature review, this discussion demonstrates that Islamic sharia teachings, modern privacy principles, and digital ethics frameworks align in demanding caution, requiring explicit consent, and protecting human dignity and honor when photographs are produced, used, or distributed in the era of AI technology.   Keywords: Photos, AI, contemporary Islamic jurisprudence, digital privacy, digital ethics.

Abstract

The development of Islamic theology has been closely intertwined with ongoing debates between rational and textual approaches that emerged alongside social and intellectual transformations within the Muslim community. In this context, Imam Abu al-Hasan al-Ash‘ari and Imam Abu Mansur al-Maturidi played a crucial role in preserving and strengthening the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama‘ah as the mainstream theological framework of Islam. This study is motivated by the need for a comprehensive understanding of their contributions in responding to extreme theological trends, either those that excessively prioritized reason or those that entirely rejected rational inquiry. The purpose of this research is to analyze the roles of Al-Ash‘ari and Al-Maturidi in formulating a moderate and balanced theological foundation for Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama‘ah. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method through library research, involving a critical review of classical theological works and relevant scholarly literature. The findings indicate that Al-Ash‘ari and Al-Maturidi successfully constructed a theological framework that integrates the authority of revelation with the function of reason in a proportional manner. Their approaches preserved the purity of Islamic creed while allowing constructive engagement with intellectual developments. The study concludes that the theological contributions of Al-Ash‘ari and Al-Maturidi have significant implications for strengthening religious moderation and ensuring the continuity of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama‘ah creed amid contemporary intellectual challenges. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept and forms of integrating ecopesantren-based learning into the Fiqh subject at MA Plus Sunan Drajat 7, as well as its impact on students’ ecological awareness. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with Fiqh teachers, the head of the madrasah, and students, as well as documentation studies including lesson plans (RPP) and learning activity archives. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured through source and technique triangulation.the findings indicate that ecopesantren-based Fiqh learning at MA Plus Sunan Drajat 7 is integratively designed by utilizing the pesantren’s agrarian environment, such as gardens, rice fields, and natural resources, as contextual learning media. The integration of learning is implemented through hands-on practices in the topics of thaharah, muamalah, and agricultural zakat, which are linked to farming activities and environmental management. This learning approach enhances students’ applied understanding of Fiqh and fosters environmental awareness. Students not only comprehend Islamic legal principles cognitively but also practice them in their daily lives. Therefore, ecopesantren-based learning is proven to be effective in shaping both students’ religious character and sustainable ecological awareness.   Keywords: ecopesantren, Fiqh learning, agrarian environment, ecological awareness, pesantren
