AN-NAHDLOH: Journal of Education and Islamic Studies, published by the Master of Islamic Religious Education (MPAI) Postgraduate Program, Raden Rahmat Islamic University (UNIRA) Malang. Abstract

This study was conducted to address the problems of Qur’an Hadith learning that are still dominated by traditional methods, such as lectures and limited learning materials. These conditions lead to low student engagement and less optimal understanding of Qur’anic verses and hadiths. The study aims to describe the development process of multimedia-based Qur’an Hadith learning media and teaching materials, to assess the feasibility of the content and media design, and to identify students’ responses to its use in improving motivation and comprehension. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, and triangulation techniques. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was strengthened through source triangulation, technique triangulation, and member checking. The results indicate that multimedia-based learning media present Qur’an Hadith materials in a more systematic, engaging, and interactive manner, thereby reducing misconceptions in understanding verses and hadiths. Students showed positive responses because the visual and audio elements helped them comprehend abstract concepts more easily. Teachers also experienced benefits in terms of time efficiency and consistency in material delivery. Overall, multimedia-based learning media proved to be an effective solution for improving the quality of Qur’an Hadith learning in the digital era.   Keywords: digital teaching materials, learning motivation, multimedia, Qur’an Hadith learning

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategy for developing digital-based Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Lesson Plans (RPPs) and their contribution to teacher performance effectiveness. Ideally, lesson plan development should follow systematic principles in accordance with educational regulations. However, research findings indicate that the digitalization of lesson plan development at SMA Negeri 7 Tasikmalaya City is not yet fully optimized. Teachers still rely on Microsoft Word as the primary tool, while digital technologies such as Google, learning apps, and artificial intelligence (AI) are only utilized as aids in searching for references and comparing materials. Conversely, the use of digital technology is more dominant in the learning implementation stage through the use of Canva and Filmora to create audio-visual media that have been proven to improve student understanding and learning interest. Furthermore, digital technology also has a significant impact on teacher work time efficiency, through the school intranet system that is capable of automatic correction and digital grade recapitulation. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening teachers' digital competencies, institutional support, and developing an innovative work culture so that the digitalization of lesson planning can be implemented optimally and sustainably.   Keywords: PAI lesson plan, digital technology, teacher performance effectiveness, instructional planning, learning media

Abstract

The integration of religious studies and science has become an important paradigm in modern Islamic education, including at the Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University (UIN) in Malang. However, the application of this integration at Ma'had Putri has not been studied in depth, especially in terms of how the development process is carried out and the extent of its impact on the character of female students. This study aims to analyze the role of Ma'had Putri in the application of the integration of religious and scientific knowledge and to identify its impact on the character building of female students. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observations, and documentation involving caregivers, Musyrifah, and female students. The results of the study show that Ma'had Putri internalizes the integration of knowledge through habitual worship, book studies, taklim afkar, mentoring, and activities that connect religious teachings with scientific understanding. The caregivers play a role in directing the vision of guidance, while the musyrifah (female supervisors) become the main companions in instilling discipline and spirituality. Meanwhile, the mahasantri (female students) understand integration as an effort to connect religious teachings with the phenomena they encounter in their daily lives. This integration has a significant impact on the character of the mahasantri, especially in terms of discipline, responsibility, spirituality, and independence. Thus, Ma'had Putri plays an important role in shaping the character of mahasantri with the Ulul Albab paradigm as a model of integration of religious knowledge and science at UIN Malang.   Keywords: Integration of Knowledge, Ma'had Putri, Character of Female Students, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang

Abstract

Qur'an and Hadith education in the 21st-century learning era demands pedagogical transformation from conventional approaches toward more dynamic and meaningful learning. The integration of diverse teaching media and methods has become a crucial strategy in creating interactive, participatory learning experiences oriented toward holistic student competency development. This study aims to analyze the role of diverse teaching media and methods in creating dynamic Qur'an and Hadith learning at MAN 2 Tasikmalaya City. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Findings reveal that MAN 2 Tasikmalaya City has successfully implemented a combination of conventional media such as blackboards, textbooks, and student worksheets (LKS), integrated with lectures, question-and-answer sessions, group discussions, assignments, and modules that effectively fostered interactive and student-centered learning environments. The synergy of varied media and methods applied has proven effective in enhancing students' motivation, active participation, and deep understanding of Qur'anic verses and Hadith, while also shaping spiritual attitudes, discipline, and self-confidence. This study confirms that the varied learning practices at MAN 2 Tasikmalaya City represent a pedagogical strategy model relevant to the demands of 21st-century education and can serve as a practical reference for educators and other educational institutions in developing innovative and meaningful Qur'an and Hadith learning.   Kata kunci: Learning media, varied methods, Qur'an and Hadith, dynamic learning, learning motivation

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of a translation-based learning strategy for Al-Qur’an and Hadith in improving students’ comprehension at MTs Mu’min Ma’sum. The background of this research stems from the issue that learning activities are still primarily focused on memorization, causing students to struggle with understanding the meaning of Qur’anic verses and hadiths in depth. The translation strategy was selected because it enables students to recognize the meaning of vocabulary, sentence structure, and the contextual messages contained within, thereby making the learning process more meaningful. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method using observation, interviews, documentation, and data triangulation to ensure the validity of the findings. The implementation of the strategy includes word analysis, understanding the context of verses, group discussions, noting essential meanings, and summarizing lesson content. The results show that the translation strategy enhances students’ active engagement in the learning process, strengthens their ability to explain verse meanings, and helps them connect the messages of the Qur’an and Hadith with their daily learning experiences. Although some students still require assistance during the adaptation period of the Merdeka Curriculum, overall, this strategy is considered relevant, flexible, and effective in improving students’ comprehension and the quality of Al-Qur’an and Hadith learning in the madrasah. Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the role-playing method in improving the achievement motivation of tenth-grade students at MA Manbail Futuh. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, specifically the Non-Equivalent Control Group Design, was employed, involving 40 students divided into experimental and control groups. The instrument used was an achievement motivation scale based on McClelland’s indicators. The results indicate that, before treatment, both groups exhibited low to moderate levels of achievement motivation. After three sessions of role playing, the experimental group demonstrated substantial improvements in academic responsibility, performance, courage, achievement drive, and self-confidence. A comparative analysis reveals an average increase of +17.10 in the experimental group, whereas the control group increased by only +2.65. Thus, the role-playing method is proven effective in enhancing students’ achievement motivation in the Islamic school context.   Keywords: Role Playing, Achievement Motivation, Learning Motivation, Islamic Education

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the implementation of the storytelling method based on SAVI in Akidah Akhlak learning at MA Salafiyah Merakurak. This study employs a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design, involving class X students as subjects. It utilizesdata collection techniques that include pretests, posttests, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and a dependent t-test to measure the effect of the treatment on students' memory retention. The research findings indicate that the application of the SAVI-based storytelling method successfully enhanced students' engagement and memory retention in Akidah Akhlak learning. Students demonstrated greater focus, enthusiasm, and active involvement during the learning process. The integration of various learning modalities (somatic, auditory, visual, and intellectual) helped students comprehend abstract akidah concepts more meaningfully. The average memory retention score significantly improved from the "fair" to the "excellent" category following the treatment. Statistical testing revealed a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores, confirming the positive effect of the SAVI-based storytelling method on improving memory retention. The paired sample t-test results showed a Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05, thus rejecting H0 and accepting Ha, indicating that the SAVI-based storytelling method significantly influences the enhancement of students' memory retention. Abstract

The digital transition at MTs N 1 Banggai has fundamentally altered student learning behaviors, leading to a "meaningful learning crisis" where instant information retrieval replaces deep spiritual reflection. This research explores the underlying factors of this crisis, specifically focusing on how digital culture hinders the internalisation of religious values. Utilizing a qualitative phenomenological design, the study gathered insights from teachers, students, and parents through interviews and direct observations. The findings indicate a significant mismatch between traditional, lecture-based teaching methods and the fast-paced, multitasking habits of modern students. Evidence from school records further reveals that instructional planning prioritizes cognitive mastery over moral-digital ethics, resulting in students practicing religious values only superficially. Consequently, the study advocates for a pedagogical shift toward reflective and contextual PAI models that bridge the gap between religious teachings and daily digital interactions.   Keywords: Meaningful and Integrative Learning, Internalization of Student Religious Values, Digital Learning Culture

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of bullying and moral degradation among students necessitates schools to strengthen character education through effective approaches. This study aims to analyze student perceptions of Islamic Spiritual extracurricular activities (Rohis) and their contribution to character building at SMP Negeri 26 Surabaya. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and open-ended questionnaires administered to Rohis members and supervising teachers. The findings reveal an interesting dynamic in perception: students tend to interpret Rohis through operational tasks (such as maintaining mosque order and arranging prayer rows), while teachers emphasize the aspect of moral cultivation. Nevertheless, both perspectives converge on the conclusion that structured Rohis activities (daily, weekly, and annual) are effective in shaping student character. The character values developed include religious discipline, responsibility, politeness, and self-confidence. The study concludes that Rohis serves not merely as a gathering place but as a crucial medium for habituation in internalizing Islamic values and preventing deviant behavior within the school environment.   Keywords: Rohis, Character Education, Student Perception, Religious Character, SMP Negeri 26 Surabaya.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of creative solutions in improving the literacy culture of Islamic Education (PAI) learning. This research is motivated by the challenge of a low religious literacy culture among students, which prompted the Headmaster of MTs Mathlaul Khaer Cintapada to establish the Integrated Tahfidz Program in 2022. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. The creative solution implemented is a combination of direct memorization deposits (setoran) and the utilization of the Al-Kalam digital application, which facilitates students in memorizing, understanding Tajwid, and Makharijul Huruf. The memorization target over three years is 6 Juz (1, 2, 27, 28, 29, 30), with a success rate reaching 70% of students. The results show that this program has successfully increased student enthusiasm and literacy, marked by the annual Tahfidz Graduation as a form of appreciation and motivation. This study concludes that the integration of digital technology and structured programs effectively strengthens religious literacy in schools.   Keywords: Islamic Education Learning, PAI Learning, Religious Literacy Culture, Integrated Tahfidz Program, Creative Solutions.
