Abstract

Contemporary Islamic education in Indonesia faces a critical juncture between technological opportunities and epistemological crises. The massive expansion of digital access has intensified the dominance of sensory knowledge (ilmu ḥissiyah) and rational-instrumental knowledge (ilmu ʿaqliyah), while marginalizing the spiritual-moral dimension centered on the qalbu. This condition is empirically reflected in the rising prevalence of emotional disorders among adolescents, spiritual emptiness, existential crises, and psychological pressure exacerbated by digital culture and the shift to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Over-reliance on sensory and technological approaches without strengthening the qalbu has resulted in psychospiritual dysfunction among learners. In this context, Al-Ghazālī's epistemology offers a relevant critique and reconstruction. Through his works such as al-Munqiḍ min al-Ḍalāl and Iḥyāʾ ‘Ulūm al-Dīn, Al-Ghazālī constructs a hierarchical and integrative epistemological framework, placing sensory and rational knowledge under the leadership of a purified qalbu that receives divine illumination (ilm ladunī). The qalbu functions as the "king" integrating all human faculties, ensuring knowledge is not merely cognitive but transformative, ethical, and oriented toward maʿrifatullāh within the framework of tawḥīd. This study employs a qualitative approach with library research and philosophical-conceptual analysis to reconstruct Al-Ghazālī's qalbu-centric epistemology and elaborate its implications for contemporary Islamic education. The reconstruction affirms the hierarchical structure: sensory knowledge as the base, rational as intermediate, and qalbu illumination as the peak through tazkiyat al-nafs. Practical implications include developing a holistic Islamic education model that integrates tazkiyah practices into the PAI curriculum, learning strategies based on adab, muraqabah, and muḥāsabah, as well as harmonizing digital technology with spiritual formation. This approach is expected to overcome spiritual emptiness, stabilize learners' psyche, form noble character, and renew PAI curriculum toward a tawḥīd-oriented, transformative education in the digital era. Abstract

The rapid growth of digital technology has brought substantial changes to the delivery of public services in the education sector. This study examines the adoption of digital systems in educational services, focusing on their key characteristics, implementation patterns, and governing principles. Employing a literature review approach and content analysis, this paper synthesizes findings from scholarly sources and relevant studies on the digital transformation of educational services in Indonesia. The results indicate that the integration of information technology not only streamlines administrative processes and expands access to services but also enhances transparency, accountability, and data security within educational management. Various digital platforms—including academic information systems, online administrative services, complaint portals, and educational analytics tools—contribute to improving governance effectiveness and service quality. The success of digital service implementation is strongly influenced by infrastructure readiness, human resource capacity, regulatory support, and user participation. Overall, the digitalization of public services in education serves as a vital strategy for fostering more inclusive, efficient, and responsive educational services.   Keywords: Digital education, digital public services, educational governance, service quality, information technology

Abstract

This study examines the justice of wealth distribution within the Bitcoin ecosystem using a maqāṣid al-Qur’an framework, with Surah al-Ḥasyr verse 7 serving as its primary ethical foundation. The study employs a qualitative method, based on a literature review and normative analysis, to assess whether Bitcoin’s ownership structure, transaction mechanisms, and market dynamics align with Islamic distributive justice principles. Data were gathered from digital economy literature, on-chain analytical reports, and contemporary studies on maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah. The findings reveal that although Bitcoin promotes technical decentralization, its asset distribution remains highly concentrated among a small group of holders, potentially intensifying digital inequality. The asset’s extreme price volatility further exposes small-scale users to significant financial instability. Within the maqāṣid framework, these conditions suggest that Bitcoin has not yet attained the level of public benefit necessary to ensure equitable access, fair distribution of value, and adequate protection of wealth. This study concludes that digital economic governance must be strengthened through inclusive policies, transparency mechanisms, and justice-oriented frameworks to minimize inequality and promote a more sustainable financial ecosystem. Abstract

The mental resilience of today's youth is a hot topic. During this period, adolescents experience numerous changes, both physically, mentally, and socially. In rural contexts, access to formal mental health services remains very limited, so religious figures such as Islamic scholars (ustadz) can play a significant role. Millennial Islamic scholars (ustadz) in the preaching space employ strategies that are more closely aligned with the digital culture and language of the younger generation, as rural youth are inextricably linked to media exposure and academic pressures. However, there is limited research describing how millennial Islamic scholars' preaching strategies realistically work to foster mental resilience in the rural context. The problem with this research lies in the lack of identification of the Islamic preaching strategies used by millennial Islamic scholars in conveying religious messages and the psychological and emotional aspects of the young generation. This case study, conducted in Lasem Village, Dukun District, Gresik Regency, aims to determine whether millennial Islamic scholars' preaching approaches are truly effective in fostering mental resilience. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods.  The research findings show that in fostering mental resilience in the younger generation in Lasem Village, millennial religious teachers (ustad) utilize a collaborative approach to preaching using three approaches: emotional, dialogical, and adaptive. The role of religious leaders is no longer limited to providing advice, but rather to being companions who can listen to the psychological experiences of the younger generation, validate their emotions, and convey Islamic values in a light, contextual, and relevant language for everyday life. The implications of this research are that innovative approaches to preaching by religious leaders can be oriented toward both the religious dimension and measurable psychological empowerment.   Keywords: Youth, Mental Resilience, Da‘wah Strategies, Millennial Preachers

Abstract

transform from conventional assessment methods to digital assessments that are more adaptive, effective, and capable of increasing students’ learning motivation. However, field realities show that many teachers at MTs Nurul Huda Babadan, Ngajum District, Malang Regency, are still accustomed to rigid and less engaging paper-based daily assessments. This study aims to improve teachers’ competence in developing effective and enjoyable daily assessments through the use of web-based applications. The method employed is Participatory Action Research (PAR) in the form of intensive training and mentoring. The training involved 28 subject teachers at MTs Nurul Huda Babadan, Ngajum District, Malang Regency. The activities were divided into three stages: (1) socialization and pre-test on the concepts of formative assessment and gamification; (2) a workshop on developing assessments using a web application (Zep Quiz); and (3) implementation mentoring and post-test. Data were collected through pre-tests, post-tests, product analysis (assessment instruments), and response questionnaires. The results show a significant increase in teachers’ conceptual understanding and technical skills. The average pre-test score was 60.2, which increased sharply to 87.5 in the post-test. Product analysis indicates that 87.5% of teachers successfully designed at least one web-based daily assessment instrument that was content-valid and integrated gamification elements. Teacher responses show that 94% considered the training highly relevant and impactful for their teaching practice. This training successfully transformed teachers’ paradigms from assessors to facilitators of motivating assessment. Abstract

The transformation of Islamic studies methodology from textual to contextual approaches marks a significant epistemological shift in modern Islamic scholarship. This study aims to explore the dynamics behind this paradigm change, identify the methodological tensions between textual and contextual approaches, and analyze how contemporary challenges shape the development of Islamic interpretation. The research problem centers on the inadequacy of purely literal readings in addressing modern issues such as digital ethics, gender relations, and socio-cultural change, contrasted with concerns that contextual approaches may weaken normative religious foundations. Using a qualitative library research method, this study analyzes scholarly works, classical references, and contemporary academic discourse to map the evolution of Islamic methodological thought. The findings demonstrate that contextual and integrative approaches increasingly complement traditional textual methods by incorporating historical, sociological, and hermeneutical perspectives. These methods provide more relevant and adaptable interpretations for contemporary needs while preserving core Islamic values. The study concludes that methodological renewal is essential for maintaining the relevance of Islamic teachings in modern society and highlights the need for stronger methodological literacy within Islamic education.   Keywords: Islamic methodology, textual approach, contextual interpretation, hermeneutics, paradigm shift

Abstract

This article examines the concepts of faith and major sins from the perspective of four major schools of Islamic thought: the Khawarij, the Murji'ah, the Mu'tazilah, and the two Sunni schools of Kalam (Ash'ari and Maturidi). This study highlights the differences in views regarding the definition of faith, the limits, and consequences of major sins, as well as their positions on the perpetrators of major sins within the framework of Islamic theology and ethics. The Khawarij view faith as an absolute, inherent belief and consider major sins to be disbelief, while the Murji'ah emphasize that faith is a conviction of the heart that remains despite committing major sins, and that punishment is left to God. The Mu'tazilah affirm God's justice and consider major sins as forgivable violations of faith, while Sunni schools such as the Ash'ari and Maturidi argue that faith encompasses conviction of the heart and deeds, and that the perpetrator of major sins does not deviate from faith if he repents. This study offers a comparative analysis that enriches understanding of these differences in theological interpretations in the context of faith and sin in Islam.   Keywords: faith, sin, theology, madzhab, Ash'ari

Abstract

The development of teacher professionalism in elementary schools depends not only on pedagogical and cognitive competence but also on spiritual intelligence, which forms the foundation of integrity, work ethic, and teacher exemplarity in shaping students’ character. This study aims to describe the management of the peer coaching program at SDN 15 Koto Panjang Kota Solok as an effort to enhance teacher professionalism based on spiritual intelligence. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation and data reduction. The findings show that the management of the peer coaching program is carried out through several stages: planning, which involves identifying teachers’ spiritual needs and integrating character values into lesson modules; implementation, which consists of conducting peer coaching sessions twice a month in a safe environment that allows teachers to share challenges, receive technical guidance, and gain spiritual reinforcement from the principal; and supervision, conducted through academic and non-academic monitoring to ensure consistent application of spiritual values and teacher professionalism in teaching practices. This program has been proven to contribute to improving instructional quality, teachers’ emotional resilience, and the strengthening of students’ character. Thus, peer coaching based on spiritual intelligence becomes an effective program for building teacher professionalism while addressing the challenges of moral degradation.   Keywords: peer coaching management, teacher professionalism, and spiritual based

Abstract

Globalization has brought profound changes to social and cultural structures, resulting in identity tension, growing polarization, and the weakening of humanitarian values. This study aims to examine the urgency of reconstructing universal Islamic values as a foundation for unifying identity and humanity in the global era. Employing a library research method, this study analyzes relevant books as well as national and international journal articles using thematic content analysis. The findings reveal that universal Islamic principles, including justice (al-‘adl), compassion (rahmah), respect for human dignity, tolerance, and balance, function as ethical guidelines capable of responding to contemporary global challenges. Furthermore, the concept of religious moderation (wasathiyah) is identified as a strategic middle path that harmonizes religious identity with global citizenship. The study also emphasizes the importance of digital religious literacy in countering misinformation and extremism. Ultimately, universal Islamic values must be translated from normative discourse into practical implementation within education, public policy, and social engagement to foster a peaceful and inclusive global civilization.   Keywords: Universal Islamic Values, Global Identity, Religious Moderation.
