Abstract

This study explores the optimization of zakat distribution in Kudus City, focusing on the effects of poverty, income, and unemployment. Employing a quantitative research method and the analysis of secondary data, this investigation employs EViews 10 for the examination of pertinent variables. Results from Kudus City indicate that the "Number of Poor Population," income, and unemployment significantly affect the "Zakat Almsgiving Funds." Notably, there is a negative correlation with the "Number of Poor Population" and a positive correlation with income and unemployment levels. These outcomes offer crucial insights for policy formulation and the enhancement of zakat distribution efficacy.

Abstract

The United States possesses a strategically significant geographical location, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. This unique positioning has made the country a destination for immigrants from various nations, including Muslim communities. This study aims to explore the historical foundations and development of Islam in the United States, particularly through the contributions of religious institutions and communities that promote and strengthen Islamic teachings. The research utilizes a library-based methodology with a qualitative approach, drawing from books, journals, and official reports relevant to the topic. The findings indicate that, while Islam remains a minority religion in America, its number of adherents continues to grow. This phenomenon is closely tied to the active roles played by religious organizations such as CAIR, ISNA, MSA, and FIMA, which support education, advocacy, and interfaith dialogue. Furthermore, global incidents, such as the attacks on September 11, 2001, have served as significant turning points in increasing public interest in Islam. These institutions are crucial in shaping a positive image of Islam within America's diverse society.

Abstract

Human resource management plays an important role in how successful an organization or company can be. Human resource management is of utmost importance since it determines whether or not organizational goals can be achieved. One of such organizations with goals to achieve is BAZNAS of Depok Municipality with its Rice ATM program. It is a program to distribute rice that requires human resources to play some role in its implementation. Therefore, the existing human resources must be managed well to achieve its objectives. This research is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Such research attempts to interpret and describe the existing data. This research aims to find out the implementation, procedures and human resource management (HRDM) in BAZNAS’s Rice ATM program in Depok Municipality. The data were collected using observation, interviews, and documentation. This research found that human resources were managed fairly well in the Rice ATM program in procurement and planning. This was shown by the fact that Depok Municipality BAZNAS could cooperate and collaborate with the Zakat Collection Units (UPZ). However, the program’s maintenance and evaluation were still weak. On how it was implemented, BAZNAS would provide the rice ATMs and the program would be run by UPZs. Thanks to this mechanism, the rice assistance could be distributed more quickly to the community, making it easier to achieve the goal.

Abstract

This research examines different productive waqf management models in Indonesia. The study used a qualitative approach, focusing on literature. The findings revealed that the most commonly-implemented productive waqf management model was the productive investment one, which involved land and building rentals. In second place was the profit-sharing financing model, which included collaborations with third parties such as cooperatives, outsourcers, and other institutions. The study also identified the social infrastructure development model, by which buildings such as schools and places of worship were built. The variations in productive waqf management models in Indonesia, as found in this study, were still relatively low when compared to the strategic productive waqf land categorization compiled by the Directorate of Waqf Empowerment. This highlights the need for the Indonesian Waqf Board to develop strategies to increase the ratio of productive waqf at national and sub-national levels, which will eventually lead to the rise of the National Waqf Index.

Abstract

The title of Hajj has many meanings, from cultural, historical, and normative to sociological. However, there is still abuse of the title of Hajj as an economic field and social stratification. This study aims to examine the functionality of the title of Hajj for pilgrims, both as motivation and self-control. This research is a qualitative descriptive method with a phenomenological approach and a psychological scientific approach. The results show that the title of Hajj can function as motivation and self-control for pilgrims, both from internal and external directions, to improve self-quality and control themselves from deviant actions. This research concludes that a Hajj degree can provide functional benefits for pilgrims, such as motivation and self-control in behavior. Hajj is a stronghold for acting and socializing where a person must always consider every word and deed before doing or speaking

Abstract

This research focuses on the challenges in the manual management of Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah (ZIS) funds, which are slow, inefficient, and prone to errors. By implementing the SIMBA application, it is hoped that there will be increased efficiency, effectiveness, transparency and accountability in the management of ZIS funds at BAZNAS South Tangerang City. This research aims to identify the impacts and obstacles in implementing SIMBA and how these obstacles affect the management of ZIS funds. Using qualitative methods with a descriptive approach, data was collected through observation and interviews with BAZNAS managers. The research results show that SIMBA has positively impacted efficiency and accuracy, as evidenced by the increase in zakat collection from IDR 1,620,378,427 in 2020 to IDR 3,699,508,074 in 2023. However, technical obstacles were also found, such as system errors and inaccuracies in the distribution of funds. This research suggests increasing human resource training and improving systems to overcome these obstacles. Implementing SIMBA is important in improving ZIS fund management, but ongoing technical support is needed.

Abstract

This study highlights the potential for educational tourism based on the history and genealogy of Walisongo in Java, which could have been more optimal. Walisongo has an important role in spreading Islam and Javanese culture, but its appeal to educational tourism still needs to be expanded. This study explores how historical sites, genealogies, and life stories of Walisongo can be used as the main attraction, as well as the obstacles and opportunities in developing this tourism. This study used qualitative methods to collect data from literature and interviews with the community, historians, and stakeholders. Secondary data from books, journals, and articles related to Walisongo were also analyzed to provide a complete picture of the potential of Walisongo's cultural heritage. The study results indicate that Walisongo has great appeal for educational tourism, especially among students interested in studying the history of the spread of Islam in Java. However, several obstacles exist, such as minimal supporting facilities, lack of infrastructure, and limited effective promotion. In addition, the need for more public understanding of the history of Walisongo requires more comprehensive educational materials. This study recommends the development of educational tourism based on Walisongo that can support cultural preservation and provide economic benefits for the local community.

Abstract

This study identifies and analyzes the Da’wa strategies the Rabbunallah Surabaya Foundation implemented to build donor loyalty. The research focuses on understanding how the foundation's da’wa approach influences the relationship between the foundation and its donors, encouraging long-term commitment to supporting its social activities. Using a Grounded Theory methodology, the study adopts a qualitative case study approach, gathering data through in-depth interviews with foundation managers, donors, and related parties and observing da’wa activities. Data analysis used open and axial coding to identify key categories related to Da’wa strategies and donor loyalty. The findings reveal that the foundation's da’wa strategy involves a combination of educational, emotional, and spiritual approaches, focusing on delivering messages of goodness and the importance of sustaining charitable efforts. This strategy fosters a personal and emotional bond between the foundation and its donors. Additionally, the foundation utilizes various communication platforms, such as social media and regular meetings, to maintain transparency and provide updates on program developments. Donor loyalty is built through involvement, trust, and the fulfillment of spiritual and social expectations. In conclusion, the da’wa strategies employed by the Rabbunallah Surabaya Foundation have proven effective in cultivating donor loyalty. Active involvement in da’wa activities that touch on spiritual and social aspects plays a key role in creating lasting relationships between the foundation and its donors. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the dynamics between foundations and donors within Islamic da’wa.
