Jurnal Ilmiah Guru Madrasah (JIGM) is an academic journal published by LaKaspia (Lembaga Kajian Sosial Politik Aceh/Aceh Institute for Social and Political Studies), a well-established institution with a long-standing history in socio-political research, conflict resolution, peacebuilding, and educational studies. Founded on December 10, 1999, LaKaspia underwent a structural reorganization on October 4, 2022 (Registration No. AHU-0010506.AH.01.07.YEAR 2022). Under LaKaspia’s stewardship, JIGM serves as an open platform for disseminating scholarly ideas, research findings, and innovative practices from all disciplines taught in educational institutions. The journal publishes original research articles, classroom action research, comprehensive literature reviews, and practical reflections that contribute to the development of education in various settings—including madrasahs, general schools, pesantren, and non-formal institutions. JIGM welcomes submissions from teachers, educators, academics, practitioners, and experts from Indonesia and around the world. Abstract

This study aims to analyze strategies for strengthening the values of religious moderation through a multicultural education approach. Religious moderation is viewed as a crucial effort to maintain social harmony within a pluralistic society, while multicultural education serves as an effective medium to systematically instill these values in students from an early age. This research employs a library research method with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through an extensive review of relevant literature, including books, peer-reviewed journals, educational policy documents, and reports from educational institutions. The findings reveal that the reinforcement of moderation values can be achieved through the integration of tolerance and diversity into the curriculum, strengthening the role of teachers as agents of change and facilitators of inclusion, and fostering a school culture that embraces differences. However, the implementation process faces several challenges, such as ideological resistance rooted in exclusive religious interpretations, structural limitations within the education system, and cultural resistance from communities. On the other hand, opportunities arise from supportive government policies, curriculum flexibility, active involvement of civil society, and the strategic use of technology to promote the values of religious moderation

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategic leadership roles in enhancing the information technology competence of Teungku in Salafi Dayah of Aceh Besar. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research was conducted at Dayah Thalibul Huda and Dayah Raudhatul Qur’an using participatory observation and in-depth interviews with purposively selected leaders and teachers. The findings reveal that dayah leaders serve as initiators, motivators, and facilitators in driving digital transformation within the traditional Islamic educational context. Their strategies include contextual training, institutional restructuring, and the internalization of Islamic values in the use of technology. Supporting factors consist of leadership commitment, the active role of younger teachers, external partnerships, and basic IT infrastructure. Major obstacles include low digital literacy, cultural resistance, limited technical support, and heavy workloads. These findings underscore the importance of value-based and contextual leadership in integrating technology while preserving the traditional identity of Islamic boarding schools. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran strategis kepemimpinan dalam meningkatkan kompetensi teknologi informasi (TI) para Teungku di Dayah Salafi Aceh Besar. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, studi ini dilakukan di Dayah Thalibul Huda dan Dayah Raudhatul Qur’an, dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi partisipatif dan wawancara mendalam terhadap pimpinan dan tenaga pengajar yang dipilih secara purposif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pimpinan dayah berperan sebagai inisiator, motivator, dan fasilitator dalam mendorong transformasi digital di lingkungan dayah. Strategi yang diterapkan mencakup pelatihan kontekstual, restrukturisasi kelembagaan, dan internalisasi nilai-nilai Islam dalam pemanfaatan TI. Faktor pendukung meliputi komitmen kepemimpinan, keterlibatan Teungku muda, dukungan eksternal, dan ketersediaan infrastruktur dasar, sementara hambatan utamanya adalah rendahnya literasi TI, resistensi budaya, keterbatasan teknis, dan tingginya beban kerja. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya kepemimpinan berbasis nilai dan kontekstual dalam mengintegrasikan teknologi tanpa menggeser identitas tradisional dayah.

Abstract

Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) content has become increasingly prevalent on digital platforms, particularly YouTube, and is often utilized by individuals seeking relief from sleep and anxiety disorders. This study employs a qualitative netnographic approach to examine the patterns, motivations, and perceived effects of ASMR consumption among individuals coping with insomnia and anxiety. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with ten informants and supported by observation of user interactions within the ASMR community. The findings indicate that ASMR is commonly integrated into daily routines as a personalized strategy for relaxation and anxiety reduction, particularly before sleep. Participants reported that regular engagement with ASMR content helped them fall asleep more easily, diminished intrusive or anxious thoughts, and provided a sense of emotional comfort. However, the effectiveness of ASMR varied, with some informants experiencing significant benefits and others describing only modest or temporary relief. Social acceptance of ASMR use was also mixed, influencing whether participants chose to discuss their practices openly or keep them private. This study highlights the individualized and adaptive use of ASMR as a digital self-care tool for managing sleep and anxiety disorders. While not a substitute for professional intervention, ASMR offers an accessible and flexible resource within the broader spectrum of mental health strategies. Further research is recommended to better understand the long-term efficacy and mechanisms of ASMR, as well as its integration with traditional therapeutic approaches.

Abstract

The digital era has brought about major transformations in the world of education, both in terms of teaching methods and the content delivered. However, behind this progress lies a serious challenge in preserving and transmitting local wisdom values to the younger generation. This study aims to explore how education can serve as a strategic tool in revitalising local values to ensure they remain relevant and vibrant amidst the currents of globalisation and digitalisation. Through a qualitative approach and literature review, the author outlines the importance of integrating local values into the curriculum, the use of digital media based on local culture, and the role of educators as agents of cultural identity preservation.

Abstract

This study investigates students’ perceptions of the Journalists’ Questions strategy as a means of improving writing achievement in an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context. While the strategy—built on the “five Ws and one H” framework—has been recognized for its potential to enhance idea generation and text organization, limited empirical evidence exists from Indonesian higher education settings, particularly in culturally distinctive regions such as Aceh. To address this gap, the study employed a qualitative-dominant mixed-methods design involving 17 undergraduate students from the Acehnese Language and Literature Education program at Universitas Islam Kebangsaan Indonesia. Data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire and semi-structured interviews, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. The results revealed consistently positive perceptions of the strategy across all measured aspects. The majority of students agreed or strongly agreed that Journalists’ Questions facilitated vocabulary selection, idea development, text organization, critical thinking, and grammatical accuracy. Interview data further illustrated that the strategy made writing tasks more engaging and less intimidating, while also enhancing motivation. Although initial challenges—such as limited vocabulary, sentence construction, and time management—were reported, these difficulties diminished with practice. The findings suggest that Journalists’ Questions is a practical, adaptable, and culturally relevant pre-writing strategy for EFL writing instruction in higher education. By providing structured guidance, it supports both the cognitive and affective dimensions of writing development. Implications for pedagogy include incorporating the strategy into writing curricula to improve learners’ confidence, coherence, and critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relevance of Sufi values in moral education and to analyze the potential for their implementation within the framework of modern education. The background of this research is driven by the growing moral crisis in the midst of globalization and modernization, where education tends to emphasize cognitive aspects and technical skills while neglecting spiritual and moral dimensions. Sufism, with its orientation toward self-purification (tazkiyat al-nafs) and the cultivation of noble character, is considered a conceptual alternative capable of reinforcing the fundamental role of education in shaping the insān kāmil a holistic individual who is knowledgeable, virtuous, and possesses an integrated personality. The research method employed is library research, focusing on primary sources such as the works of classical Sufi scholars including al-Ghazali, al-Qushayri, and Ibn ‘Aṭā’illah, as well as secondary sources comprising books, journal articles, and scholarly publications related to moral education and the modernization of Islamic education. The data were analyzed using a descriptive-analytical approach, aimed at describing, critiquing, and synthesizing ideas derived from the literature. The findings indicate that Sufi-based moral education is highly relevant in addressing contemporary moral crises. Its implementation can be realized through value-based curricula, teachers’ moral exemplarity, spiritual habituation, and the creation of a school culture that emphasizes compassion, tolerance, and peace. Thus, Sufism is not only of spiritual significance but also offers practical applicability as a foundation for modern education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the innovation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning based on sharia values at MAN Aceh Jaya as an integrative model that combines cognitive, affective, and spiritual dimensions. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving teachers, the principal, and students. The data were analyzed interactively through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate five major types of learning innovations: project-based learning, peer teaching, the use of Islamic digital media, outdoor learning, and spiritual reflection. These innovations integrate the values of aqidah, ibadah, and akhlaq within classroom and extracurricular activities. The implementation of sharia-based innovation increased students’ learning motivation, discipline, and religious awareness while strengthening the school’s religious culture. The study concludes that the success of innovation depends on the alignment between sharia values, teacher creativity, and institutional support. These findings provide a contextual model for developing Islamic Religious Education that is participatory, value-oriented, and character-based. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis inovasi pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) berbasis nilai-nilai syariat di MAN Aceh Jaya sebagai model pembelajaran yang integratif antara aspek kognitif, afektif, dan spiritual. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan studi dokumentasi terhadap guru, kepala madrasah, dan siswa. Analisis data dilakukan secara interaktif melalui tahapan reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya lima bentuk utama inovasi pembelajaran, yaitu project-based learning, peer teaching, pemanfaatan media digital Islami, pembelajaran luar kelas, dan refleksi spiritual. Inovasi tersebut berfungsi sebagai sarana integrasi nilai aqidah, ibadah, dan akhlaq dalam proses belajar mengajar. Implementasi inovasi berbasis syariat terbukti meningkatkan motivasi belajar, kedisiplinan, dan kesadaran religius siswa, sekaligus memperkuat budaya religius madrasah. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa keberhasilan inovasi ditentukan oleh keselarasan antara nilai-nilai syariat, kreativitas guru, dan dukungan kelembagaan. Temuan ini berimplikasi pada pengembangan model pembelajaran PAI yang kontekstual, partisipatif, dan berkarakter Islami.

Abstract

Zakat is an essential instrument in Islam that serves to promote social equity and poverty alleviation. In the modern context, professional zakat (zakat al-mihnah) has emerged as a response to various types of income not explicitly mentioned in classical fiqh. In Aceh, professional zakat is managed by Baitul Mal Aceh, the official institution responsible for administering zakat, infaq, and sadaqah. This study aims to analyze the calculation standards of professional zakat applied by Baitul Mal Aceh, the legal and religious foundations used, and their conformity with Islamic principles and prevailing regulations. The research employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical method through document and literature review. The findings indicate that the calculation standards of professional zakat at Baitul Mal Aceh are formulated based on Islamic legal principles, scholars' fatwas, and national and regional regulations, particularly Law No. 11 of 2006 on the Government of Aceh and Aceh Qanun No. 10 of 2018 on Baitul Mal. The determination of nisab, zakat rate, and calculation mechanism is analogized to gold and silver zakat at 2.5% of income reaching the nisab equivalent to 94 grams of pure gold. The Sharia Advisory Council of Baitul Mal plays a crucial role in providing fatwas and ensuring Sharia compliance in zakat management policies. Thus, the professional zakat calculation standards implemented by Baitul Mal Aceh are consistent with Sharia principles and national regulations, reflecting efforts toward professionalism and transparency in zakat administration in Aceh. Abstrak Zakat merupakan instrumen penting dalam Islam yang berfungsi untuk pemerataan kesejahteraan sosial dan pengentasan kemiskinan. Dalam konteks modern, zakat profesi berkembang sebagai respons terhadap munculnya berbagai jenis penghasilan yang tidak secara eksplisit disebutkan dalam fikih klasik. Di Aceh, zakat profesi dikelola oleh Baitul Mal Aceh sebagai lembaga resmi pengelola zakat, infak, dan sedekah. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis standar perhitungan zakat profesi yang diterapkan Baitul Mal Aceh, dasar hukum dan pertimbangan yang digunakan, serta kesesuaiannya dengan prinsip syariah dan regulasi yang berlaku. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif-analitis melalui studi dokumen dan literatur terkait. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa standar perhitungan zakat profesi di Baitul Mal Aceh disusun berdasarkan ketentuan syariat Islam, fatwa ulama, serta regulasi nasional dan daerah, khususnya Undang-Undang Nomor 11 Tahun 2006 tentang Pemerintahan Aceh dan Qanun Aceh Nomor 10 Tahun 2018 tentang Baitul Mal. Penetapan nisab, kadar zakat, dan mekanisme penghitungan mengacu pada qiyas zakat emas dan perak sebesar 2,5% dari pendapatan yang mencapai nisab setara 94 gram emas murni. Dewan Pertimbangan Syariah Baitul Mal berperan penting dalam memberikan fatwa dan pengawasan syar'i terhadap kebijakan pengelolaan zakat profesi. Dengan demikian, standar perhitungan zakat profesi di Baitul Mal Aceh telah sejalan dengan prinsip syariah dan regulasi nasional, serta mencerminkan upaya profesionalisasi dan transparansi dalam pengelolaan zakat di Aceh.

Abstract

This study, entitled “Literacy as an Evaluation Strategy of the Merdeka Curriculum to Enhance the Practice of Indonesian Language Learning at SMA Terpadu Raudhatul Ulum Pidie Jaya,” aims to examine the role of literacy as an evaluation strategy in improving the quality of the Merdeka Curriculum implementation. Literacy in this context is not limited to the ability to read and write but serves as an evaluative approach that measures students’ critical, creative, and analytical thinking skills. This research employed a qualitative method with a case study design involving teachers and students through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and curriculum document analysis. The findings reveal that literacy-based evaluation positively impacts student engagement and comprehension of learning materials. This strategy enables teachers to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of students’ abilities, as the assessment focuses not only on cognitive aspects but also on reflective and applicative skills. However, the implementation of literacy-based evaluation still faces challenges, such as limited teacher competence in designing literacy assessment instruments and insufficient supporting learning resources. Therefore, continuous teacher training and institutional support are needed to effectively integrate literacy into the evaluation process. This research is expected to provide both conceptual and practical contributions to the development of literacy-based evaluation strategies that enhance the effectiveness and intelligence of Indonesian language learning practices within the Merdeka Curriculum framework.

Abstract

Active learning is recognized as an effective approach to enhancing student engagement and learning motivation, including in pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) where classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning) are the main focus of study. The background of this research stems from the limited studies addressing the effectiveness of active learning methods in the teaching of kitab kuning within traditional pesantren settings. This study aims to evaluate how far active learning can improve the learning motivation of female students (santriwati) at Dayah MUDI Mesjid Raya Samalanga. A qualitative descriptive method was employed through literature review, in-depth interviews with 2 heads of teaching departments, 3 kitab kuning teachers, and 5 class II students, as well as direct classroom observations. The findings indicate that active learning fosters a more interactive learning atmosphere, reduces learning fatigue, and enhances students’ confidence in understanding classical texts. The main conclusion of this research is that active learning is relevant and applicable as an innovative strategy while maintaining the traditional values of pesantren education. The contribution of this study lies in strengthening the adaptive teaching approach of kitab kuning to meet students’ needs and contemporary challenges.
