Abstract

This study aims to improve the mathematical problem solving ability of fourth grade students on flat building material through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model. The problem experienced by fourth grade students of SDN 1 Karanganom is experiencing difficulties in understanding the basic concepts of flat shapes such as area, perimeter, and their properties. This difficulty can be seen from the evaluation results which show that most students experience errors in solving problem solving problems related to flat shapes. This study used a class action research method (PTK) with a subject of 19 students in class IV SDN 1 Karanganom in the 2024-2025 academic year which was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Through data sources, namely quantitative data with observation, test and documentation data collection techniques. Data were obtained through math problem solving ability tests and observation of the learning process. The results showed an increase in the mathematical problem solving ability of fourth grade students on flat building material through the Problem Based Learning learning model, in cycle I with students who completed the KKM as much as 42.10%. While in cycle II there was an increase of 84.21% who had reached KKM.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the difficulty of students in understanding concepts and linking new concepts with previously learned concepts, as well as the boredom of students in learning mathematics at SD Muhammadiyah Ngijon 1. This study aims to develop game-based learning media in the form of a VOKUBA (Volume of Cubes and Beams) Board Game. The type of research conducted is education and development research (R&D) with the ADDIE model, the data collection techniques used are observation, interview, and questionnaire. The data analysis technique used is qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of the analysis on media and material expert validation received a score of 96.75% Furthermore, the results of the VOKUBA Board Game media practicality test on teachers and students received a score of 90%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the material and media packaged in the VOKUBA Board Game media are in the “Very Feasible” category, and based on the conversion guidelines for the practicality test of the VOKUBA Board Game media are included in the “Very Practical” category.

Abstract

Pancasila Education plays a crucial role in shaping the national character and civic responsibility of elementary school students. However, the use of conventional teaching methods and the lack of engaging instructional media have resulted in low student interest and achievement, particularly in Grade IV. This study aims to develop an interactive learning media using Lectora Inspire 18 combined with the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model to improve students’ interest and learning outcomes in Pancasila Education. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method, following a simplified Borg & Gall model as modified by Sugiyono, and applied a Pre-Experimental One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The participants included fourth-grade students, classroom teachers, as well as media and content experts. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, interviews, and pretest-posttest assessments. Validation results indicated that the media was highly feasible, with expert ratings of 92.39% for content and 88.23% for media. The effectiveness test showed a significant improvement in students’ interest, from 46.11% to 91.85%, and in learning outcomes, from an average score of 53.52 to 88.52. Statistical analysis using a paired sample t-test confirmed a significant difference (p < 0.05), and the N-Gain scores indicated a high level of improvement in both learning interest (84.61%) and outcomes (74.91%). These results demonstrate that the integration of Lectora Inspire 18 with the PBL model is not only feasible but also effective in enhancing student engagement and academic performance in Pancasila Education at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low achievement and motivation of students to learn. Which has the aim to find out: 1. the effectiveness of CTL and PBL learning on learning achievement; 2. the effectiveness of CTL and PBL on learning motivation; 3. the effectiveness of CTL and PBL on learning achievement and motivation. This research design is a nonequivalent control group experiment. The results showed: 1. CTL has a higher average posttest score (80) than PBL (70.8), with a Sig. (2-tailed) 0.011 < 0.05, indicating that CTL is effective in improving learning achievement; 2. CTL has a higher average score of math learning motivation, namely (42.6) compared to PBL (37.4), with Sig value. (2-tailed) 0.045 < 0.05, indicating that CTL is effective in increasing math learning motivation; 3. CTL is effective in increasing achievement and learning motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a valid and reliable emotional control skills instrument for elementary school students. Emotional control is one of the essential skills in supporting children's learning success and social adaptation. The method used is research and development (R&D) with the Borg & Gall model, which includes the stages of preliminary study, instrument design, expert validation, limited testing, and field testing. The test subjects consisted of 30 fifth-grade elementary school students. The developed instrument consisted of 40 statements, of which 25 were found to be valid based on indicators of children's emotional control skills. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to students and assessed using Cronbach's Alpha internal reliability test. The analysis results showed a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.846, which is higher than (α > 0.6), indicating that the instrument has a high level of reliability. These findings reinforce that the instrument is suitable for use as an assessment tool to measure emotional control skills consistently and accurately in elementary school students. This study contributes to providing an applicable and contextual psychopedagogical measurement tool for the elementary education environment.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the understanding of fraction concepts in grade III elementary school students through Cuisenaire Rods media with Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) approach. The background is the low understanding of fractions due to conventional learning methods that only rely on memorizing formulas. This research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK) conducted at SD Negeri Pondok Benda 01, Pamulang, South Tangerang City, with 26 students as subjects. The research was conducted in two cycles using the Kemmis and McTaggart model. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation, which were analyzed descriptively qualitative and simple quantitative. The results showed a significant increase in students' understanding of fraction concepts: in the pre-cycle the percentage of completeness was only 46%, increased to 77% in cycle I, and reached 92% in cycle II. Cuisenaire Rods media and CPA approach effectively help students understand fractions gradually according to cognitive development. Thus, the media and approach significantly increased students' engagement, enthusiasm, and understanding of the concept of fractions. The improvement of students' learning outcomes can be seen from the increasing number of students who achieve learning completeness in fraction material after the implementation of the action. The research recommends the use of concrete media and the CPA approach as a strategy for learning mathematics in elementary schools.

Abstract

Numeracy represents a core competency required to navigate the demands of the 21st century. This research aimed to investigate how traditional games influence elementary students’ numeracy abilities and motivation to learn mathematics. This quantitative research involved 60 fourth-grade students from two randomly selected classes in an elementary school in Ngawi Regency, consisting of 30 students in the experimental group (exposed to traditional games) and 30 students in the control group (not given the treatment). Data were collected through numeracy tests (pretest and posttest) and learning motivation questionnaires. The data were analyzed using the Independent Sample t-Test. The findings revealed that: (a) there was a significant effect on numeracy skills in the experimental group after the implementation of traditional game-based learning (t = 5.103, p = 0.000); and (b) there was a significant effect on mathematics learning motivation in the experimental group (t = 6.382, p = 0.000). Therefore, it is crucial for teachers to integrate traditional games effectively as a strategy to enhance numeracy skills and learning motivation in elementary education.
