Abstract

This study aims to determine the validity level of the Flip-N-Learn Cube learning media on the topic of states of matter and their changes in elementary school. This study applied a Research and Development (R&D) approach based on the 4D model, which consists of define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. However, the study was limited to the develop stage, specifically product validation. Data were collected using validation sheets completed by material experts and media experts. The assessed aspects included material relevance, conceptual accuracy, language clarity, visual design, and presentation feasibility. The data were analyzed using percentage analysis to determine the validity category. The results indicated that the Flip-N-Learn Cube media achieved a very valid category based on expert evaluations. Therefore, the media is considered feasible to be used as a learning tool to help reduce students’ misconceptions regarding states of matter and their changes in elementary school.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the persistent misconceptions found in students, particularly on the material of states of matter and their changes at the elementary school level, which have the potential to hinder accurate conceptual understanding. This research aims to develop and determine the validity level of the Word Search Worksheet Reconstruction Sheet to reduce misconceptions among fourth-grade elementary school students. The method used in this research is Research and Development (R&D) by referring to the Four-D (4D) development model which includes the define, design, development, and disseminate stages. The product validation process was carried out by two experts, namely a material expert and an evaluation expert, by considering aspects of content, language, and presentation feasibility. The validation results show that the word search worksheet reconstruction sheet obtained a validity level of 100% from the material expert and 95% from the evaluation expert with a very valid category. Therefore, the developed product is declared suitable for use as supporting teaching materials in science learning and has the potential to help reduce students' misconceptions on the material of states of matter and their changes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the basic locomotor and manipulatif motor skills of students at Surondakan 2 Elementary School using the Test of Gross Motor Development-2 (TGMD-2) instrument. The study used a quantitative descriptive method with 28 third-grade students as research subjects. Data collection was carried out through tests and direct observation using the TGMD-2 instrument which includes six locomotor skills and six manipulatif skills. Data were analyzed through raw score calculations, conversion to standard scores, and determination of Gross Motor Quotient (GMQ) values ​​based on TGMD-2 norms. The results showed that students' GMQ scores ranged from 67 to 130 with an average of 98.1 which is included in the average category. A total of 14 students (50.00%) were in the average category, 4 students (14.29%) in the above average category, 3 students (10.71%) in the superior category, 4 students (14.29%) in the below average category, 3 students (10.71%) in the poor category, and 2 students (7.14%) in the very poor category. The research findings also showed that students' locomotor skills tended to be better than manipulatif skills. In general, students' basic motor skills have developed according to their age characteristics, but there are still gaps in abilities between students that require attention through a more structured and sustainable physical education learning program. The results of this study can be a basis for developing learning strategies oriented towards the development of basic motor skills of elementary school students.

Abstract

The low ability of elementary school students in identifying main ideas remains a challenge in Indonesian language learning. This condition is reflected in the number of students who have not yet achieved learning mastery. This study aimed to examine the implementation and effectiveness of Kesongo E-Story media based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) in improving third-grade students’ ability to understand main ideas. The research employed a mixed methods approach with quantitative and qualitative designs. The participants consisted of 21 third-grade students of SDN Pagerwojo 01 Kendal. Data were collected through pre-test, post-test, observation, and teacher response questionnaires. Quantitative data were analyzed using mean scores and N-Gain analysis, while qualitative data were analyzed descriptively. The findings indicated an improvement in students’ ability to understand main ideas after the implementation of PBL-based E-Story media. The students’ average score increased from 66.67 to 85.24, with an N-Gain score of 0.56 categorized as moderate. Learning mastery also improved from 66.67% to 100%. In addition, teachers gave positive responses to the media because it was considered engaging and encouraged students to participate more actively in the learning process. Based on these findings, Kesongo E-Story media based on Problem Based Learning can be used as an alternative learning medium to improve elementary school students’ ability to understand main ideas.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the improvement in mathematics learning outcomes of 4th-grade students at SD Negeri Tangkisan Pos using a deep learning approach. This study is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students, as evidenced by 72.2% of students still being below the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKTP). This is due to the lack of innovation by teachers in conducting learning, making it difficult for students to understand the learning material. The type of research used is classroom action research using the Kemmis & Mc Taggart model. This research model consists of four stages: planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were all 4th-grade students at SD Negeri Tangkisan Pos, consisting of 18 students, with 12 male students and 6 female students. Data collection techniques used included observation sheets, learning test result measurements, and documentation. The data analysis technique used was desk analysis.

Abstract

Student learning engagement refers to learning activities that directly involve students during the learning process. Student learning engagement is a key determinant of teaching success in schools. The purpose of this study is to improve the learning activity of 5th grade students of SDN Tangkisan Pos Klaten through the Discovery Learning learning model in the subject of Science. This study is motivated by the low learning activity of 5th grade students in the subject of Science, seen from the low learning activity of students at 42.85%. This is because the learning model used is not innovative enough and does not meet students' learning needs, resulting in students being less enthusiastic about participating in class. The type of research used is classroom action research using the Kemmis & McTaggart model. This research model consists of four stages: planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were all 28 fifth-grade students at SD N Tangkisan Pos. Data collection techniques used observation and documentation. The data analysis technique used was descriptive analysis with percentages. The results of this study indicate an increase in learning activity in each cycle. Student learning activity in cycle 1 averaged 67.85%. In cycle 2, it increased by 17.86%, with an average of 85.71%. These results reveal a significant increase in student learning activity in the science subject through the application of the discovery learning model.

Abstract

The low motivation and learning outcomes of students in non-formal religious educational institutions are problems that have not been widely addressed through innovative learning methods. This study aims to test the effectiveness of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) method in improving the learning outcomes of Akidah Akhlak (Islamic Aqidah) of 6th grade students at Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Awwaliyah (MDTA) Dzuhainah, Tasikmalaya City. The study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design on 22 students. The learning model was validated by three validators using the Aiken's V index before implementation. Learning outcome data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test. The model validation results showed an average Aiken's V index of 0.913 (high category). After implementing TGT in one 90-minute session, the average student score increased from 61.82 to 78.41 with an average gain of 16.59 points (an increase of 26.84%). The Wilcoxon test yielded a Z value of -4.107, greater than the critical value of 1.96 (α = 0.05), thus the improvement was declared statistically significant. All 22 students (100%) experienced an increase in their scores. 82% of students achieved scores above the KKM of 70. The TGT method demonstrated significant effectiveness in improving cognitive learning outcomes in the context of a single-session implementation at MDTA Dzuhainah, although the generalization of the findings requires further validation through a more robust research design.

Abstract

The development of scrapbooks in this study focused on supporting tools in science learning, which focused on increasing the learning motivation of third grade students at Candirejo Elementary School. By implementing the R&D framework, using five steps from the ADDIE model. Data were collected through validation instruments for experts, student response questionnaires, and learning motivation questionnaires. The findings of this study revealed that scrapbooks are classified as having a very high level of feasibility for application in science learning. This is based on the validation score of material experts reaching 95% and media experts at 88.75%, the percentage of results is in the "Very Feasible" category. Student responses regarding the use of this media were also very good, indicated by the acquisition of a score of 4.5 in small-scale trials and increasing to 4.65 in large-scale trials. Analysis of media effectiveness using a paired t-test produced a significance value of 0.002 (<0.05) which proves a significant increase in learning motivation before and after using scrapbooks.

Abstract

Natural Science education in elementary schools continues to face significant challenges, particularly regarding the scarcity of concrete and contextual learning media capable of fostering students' critical thinking skills, especially on the topic of energy sources and their transformations. The Bedug, a traditional drum deeply rooted in students' local culture, presents a strategic opportunity to be utilized as a learning medium by integrating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) principles to facilitate critical thinking. This research aims to analyze the necessity of developing an Ethno-STEM-based electronic Bedug for elementary school settings. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data gathered through structured and unstructured interviews with fourth-grade teachers and students. The findings reveal that teachers struggle to explain energy transformation concepts concretely, as existing media are limited to audiovisual formats that fail to represent various energy changes optimally. Furthermore, project-based and engineering activities remain infrequent, hindering the development of students' critical thinking. Conversely, students demonstrated high interest in science learning linked to local culture, specifically the Bedug and the Ngadulag tradition. They also expressed curiosity about the electronic Bedug concept and were able to articulate basic relationships between sound and electrical energy. These findings indicate that an Ethno-STEM-based electronic Bedug is urgently needed as a concrete, interactive, and contextual learning tool. This media effectively merges cultural heritage with modern technology, providing a superior solution compared to conventional media in supporting conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Street children are a vulnerable group often facing barriers to formal education due to economic, social, and administrative factors, resulting in low basic literacy skills. This study aims to analyze the validity of a non-formal learning model and examine the effectiveness of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach combined with storytelling methods in improving the basic literacy skills of street children. This study employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects consisted of six street children in Cipedes District, Tasikmalaya City, selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments were validated by four expert lecturers using Aiken’s V index, while literacy data were collected through objective tests administered before and after the intervention. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test. The results indicated that the learning model had a high level of content validity, with an average Aiken’s V index of 0.94. There was a significant improvement in participants' literacy skills, evidenced by an increase in the mean score from 66.83 in the pretest to 81.67 in the post-test, with an N-Gain of 14.83. The Wilcoxon test yielded a Z-value of -2.20 (p < 0.05), confirming a significant difference between pre and post intervention scores. All participants (100%) demonstrated improved abilities. It is concluded that integrating the contextual approach and storytelling is an effective non-formal learning strategy for enhancing the basic literacy of street children.
