Abstract

This study is an experimental study with a quantitative approach that aims to analyse the effect of self-hypnosis training on improving concentration and emotional management skills in archery athletes in South Sulawesi Province. The method used in this study is a one-group pre-test post-test design experiment, with a total sampling technique, involving 10 athletes as respondents. The research process was carried out for two months, starting from the initial observation stage, implementation of the intervention, to the final evaluation. Self-hypnosis training was given in a structured and systematic manner during the research period, with the aim of improving the mental focus and emotional stability of athletes in facing competition pressure. The research instruments used included a concentration test and a validated emotional control questionnaire. The data obtained were analysed using a t-test (paired sample t-test) to determine significant differences between the pre-test and post-test results. The results of the statistical analysis showed that there was a significant effect of self-hypnosis training on improving athletes' concentration and emotional abilities. The observation t value of 12.0000 is smaller than the t table value of 19.3000, and the significance level of 0.000 is smaller than the value of α = 0.05. This finding indicates that self-hypnosis training can significantly help athletes improve the quality of focus and emotional control during training and matches. It can be concluded that self-hypnosis training is an effective method to be applied in athlete psychological development programs, especially in sports that require high concentration, such as archery.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the relationship between physical activity and mood stress during the month of Ramadan. A total of 26 college students participated in this study a trial physical activity during Ramadan. Physical activity profiles were measured using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and mood profiles using the Profile of Mood States (POMS) in the first and fourth weeks of Ramadan. The results of the analysis showed that sports students tended to maintain a constant level of physical activity throughout the month of Ramadan, absence of significant differences in high-intensity physical activity (vigorous) and moderate between the first and fourth weeks. Although low-intensity physical activity decreased, this change was not significant. In the measurement of POMS components, there was a decrease in the dimensions of depression (DEP), fatigue (FAT), confusion (CON), and vigor (VIG), while the dimensions of tension (TEN) and anger (ANG) increased. In addition, no relationship was found between the IPAQ and POMS profiles in the fourth week, except for the relationship between low-intensity physical activity and Total Mood Disturbance (TMD) scores, which showed a significant positive correlation (r = 0.420, p = 0.033). conclusion, although physical activity tends to be stable during the month of Ramadan, a decrease in low-intensity activity can affect mood stress, indicating the need for managing exercise intensity to maintain psychological well-being. The implications of this study are important for fasting individuals to understand the impact of physical exercise on mental health and consider the appropriate exercise intensity during fasting.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between upper arm muscle strength and the accuracy of volleyball upper serve in PBV Hizbul Wathan athletes. The method used is a quantitative method with a correlational approach. The subjects in this study were 15 PBV Hizbul Wathan athletes selected through a purposive sampling technique. The instruments used in the study included a push-up test to measure upper arm muscle strength and a service accuracy test to measure the accuracy of the upper serve. The results showed that the upper arm muscle strength of athletes was in the good to very good category, with an average of 24.93 push-ups, while the accuracy of the upper serve also showed high results with an average value of 29.40. Based on the Pearson correlation test, a correlation value of r = 0.839 was obtained with a significance value of p = 0.000, which indicates that there is a very strong and significant relationship between upper arm muscle strength and upper serve accuracy. It can be concluded that the greater the upper arm muscle strength an athlete has, the higher the level of upper serve accuracy that can be achieved. These findings indicate the importance of strengthening arm muscles in supporting the performance of overhead service techniques and provide implications for coaches in designing targeted physical training programs.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of anxiety of badminton athletes of the Tugu Muda Semarang badminton club before the match. Anxiety is one of the psychological factors that can affect an athlete's performance, especially when facing competitive situations. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach with a survey method. The sample consisted of 30 athletes in the U-13 and U-15 age groups, both male and female. The instrument used was the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) questionnaire. The results showed that the average level of anxiety of athletes before the match was 59.79%, which is categorised as severe anxiety. Of the total respondents, 17 athletes (57%) experienced severe anxiety, 8 athletes (27%) had moderate anxiety, 4 athletes (13%) had mild anxiety, and 1 athlete (3%) did not experience anxiety. High anxiety is influenced by pressure to win, expectations of coaches or parents, and fear of failure. This condition can reduce the focus, self-confidence, and emotional stability of athletes. Therefore, psychological interventions such as progressive muscle relaxation and supportive counselling are needed to help reduce anxiety and improve mental readiness. The results of this study are expected to be the basis for the preparation of a more comprehensive training program, including mental aspects. In conclusion, attention to the psychological condition of athletes is important to support optimal performance, especially in dealing with pressure during competition.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of anthropometric factors on the dribbling speed of students of SMPN 3 Bontomarannu at various grade levels. This study used a quantitative method with a descriptive correlational design. The subjects of the study were 178 students, consisting of 55 7th-grade students (average age 12.29 years), 58 8th-grade students (average age 13.38 years), and 65 9th-grade students (average age 14.14 years). The anthropometric variables measured included body weight, height, leg length, arm length, waist circumference, arm circumference, palm length, palm width, span length, and foot length. Dribbling speed was measured using a dribbling test with recording travel time. Data analysis used multiple regression analysis with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed differences in the influence of anthropometrics at each grade level. In grade 7 students, there was no significant effect of anthropometric factors on dribbling speed (R² = 0.126; p > 0.05 for all variables). Grade 8 students also showed insignificant results, even though the correlation value was higher (R = 0.410; R² = 0.168; p > 0.05 for all variables). In contrast, in grade 9 students, a significant effect was found with a strong model (R = 0.627; R² = 0.393). Three anthropometric variables had a significant effect: height had a positive effect (β = 0.164; p = 0.018), leg length had a negative effect (β = -0.204; p = 0.000), and palm width had a negative effect (β = -1.350; p = 0.015). The average dribbling time decreased with increasing grade level, namely 21.57 seconds (grade 7), 20.27 seconds (grade 8), and 17.02 seconds (grade 9). The influence of anthropometric factors on dribbling speed varies based on the level of student maturity. Anthropometric factors did not have a significant effect on students in grades 7 and 8, but had a significant effect on students in grade 9. This shows that with increasing age and physical maturity, anthropometric factors begin to play a role as determinants of dribbling speed. Optimal height, proportional leg length, and appropriate palm width are important factors in the dribbling ability of more mature students.
