Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of the scientific approach in Pencak Silat learning to enhance motor skills and discipline values among tenth-grade students at MAN 1 Makassar. Employing a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest model, the research involved 60 students divided equally into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received Pencak Silat instruction using a scientific approach, while the control group followed a conventional model. Pretest results showed similar baseline scores between groups for both motor skills (Mean = 65.4, SD = 6.8 for experimental; Mean = 64.9, SD = 7.2 for control) and discipline values (Mean = 70.1, SD = 5.6 for experimental; Mean = 69.8, SD = 5.9 for control). Posttest analysis revealed significant improvements in the experimental group for motor skills (Mean = 78.2, SD = 5.4) and discipline values (Mean = 82.6, SD = 4.9), compared to the control group (Motor Skills Mean = 70.5; Discipline Values Mean = 74.3). Independent sample t-tests confirmed statistically significant differences between groups (p < 0.001). The effect sizes were large (Cohen’s d = 1.45 for motor skills; 1.68 for discipline values), indicating a strong practical impact. These findings suggest that a scientific approach integrated into martial arts instruction is effective in fostering both physical competence and behavioural development. The study supports its inclusion in physical education curricula to promote holistic student growth.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of diamond passing training on passing accuracy among futsal extracurricular students at SMA Negeri 2 Ngawi Taruna Indonesia. This type of research uses an experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study was 25 students, and the sample used was 20 students selected using a purposive sampling technique with certain criteria, each divided into 10 control groups and 10 experimental groups. The research was conducted for three months, from January to March 2025. The instrument used was a passing accuracy test using a small goal as a target. The data obtained were analysed using prerequisite tests, namely the normality test and homogeneity test, followed by hypothesis testing using the paired sample t-test. The research results show that there is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results, with a significance value of 0.000 <0.05. This proves that diamond passing practice has a significant effect on increasing students' passing accuracy. This exercise is effective in improving coordination, accuracy and speed of decision making in futsal games. Thus, diamond passing training can be used as an alternative method for practising basic passing techniques in futsal extracurricular activities in the school environment.

Abstract

This This study aims to examine the psychological challenges experienced by gymnasts in Gresik City who are preparing to participate in the 9th East Java Porprov competition, with a special focus on anxiety, depression, stress, and their relationship to emotional eating behavior. The sample consisted of 15 gymnasts, including 2 male gymnasts and 13 female gymnasts, recruited from the Gresik City Gymnastics Training Center. Data were collected using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-42) and the Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire (DEBQ). The statistical test used in this study was the Shapirow-Wilk test to determine the normality of the data. The Pearson correlation test was used to determine the relationship between depression, anxiety and stress with emotional eating. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between anxiety and stress in gymnasts. This may be due to the psychological burden experienced by athletes during the run-up to the competition. However, the results of the relationship between emotional eating and anxiety and stress did not show a significant relationship. These results indicate that emotional eating is not an intervention carried out by gymnasts when they experience anxiety and stress. This study concludes that it is very important to use appropriate interventions when athletes experience psychological stress. Athletes really need a support system that can provide them with mental well-being. Further research is expected to explore more about the long-term impacts and the use of larger and more diverse samples

Abstract

Physical fitness plays a key role in supporting growth and fostering a healthy lifestyle among elementary students. However, physical education is often delivered using conventional methods that lack effectiveness in enhancing fitness levels. This study aims to identify learning models that effectively improve students' physical fitness. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with the PICO framework and PRISMA flow diagram, data were sourced via Publish or Perish from Google Scholar and Crossref. Keywords included “student physical fitness,” “physical education learning models,” and “teaching style in physical education.” From 1,000 initial articles, seven met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Findings reveal that models such as Project-Based Learning (PjBL), circuit games, Puzzle Run, and play-based methods significantly enhance cardio-respiratory endurance, muscular strength, agility, and motor coordination. The study concludes that active, engaging, and contextual teaching approaches are more effective than conventional methods in improving students’ physical fitness.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of volleyball underhand passing through the application of the paired ball drill method to fifth grade students of SDN Margomulyo IV. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles, each consisting of the planning stage, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 13 fifth grade students. The instrument used in this study was a volleyball underhand passing practice test which was carried out at each stage of the cycle to determine the increase in students' abilities. In the pre-cycle stage, only 2 students (15%) achieved the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM). After the action was carried out in cycle I, the number of students who completed increased to 9 students (69%). In cycle II, all students (100%) succeeded in achieving the KKM. These results indicate that the paired ball drill method is effective in improving students' underhand passing technique abilities, because it provides opportunities for repeated, interactive practice, and allows students to provide feedback to each other. In addition, this method also increases students' motivation, self-confidence, and active participation in PJOK learning. Thus, it can be concluded that the paired ball drill method can be used as an alternative appropriate learning strategy to improve learning outcomes for basic volleyball skills, especially underhand passing techniques in elementary school students.

Abstract

Fairness in refereeing is an important element that greatly influences the course of a football match, including at the amateur community level. In Sinjai Regency, the amateur football community is developing quite actively. In this context, perceptions of referee fairness can play a big role in shaping social dynamics between various actors, such as players, coaches, referees, and supporters. Therefore, this study aims to examine how the social construction of justice in refereeing is formed in the amateur football environment in Sinjai Regency. The main focus of this study is individual perception, personal experience, as well as patterns of social interaction that occur during matches. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach and descriptive method. The research participants consisted of 40 people, including players, coaches, referees, and spectators, who were purposively selected. Data collection instruments included questionnaires and structured interviews, which were designed to gain a deeper understanding of their views on fairness in refereeing. The results showed that most respondents (75%) had a positive view of referee fairness, while 25% were neutral. In addition, 90% of respondents stated that they had good experiences with referees, while the rest were neutral. These findings indicate that refereeing in this community is effective, although further evaluation and training are needed to strengthen the objectivity and consistency of referee decisions in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between physical activity and learning outcomes of upper-grade elementary school students. Physical activity is defined as body movements that require energy expenditure and is categorized into light, moderate and heavy activities. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The research sample amounted to 205 students in grades IV to VI who were selected by purposive sampling technique from several elementary schools. The instrument used to measure physical activity was the PAQ-C (Physical Activity Questionnaire for Children) questionnaire while learning outcomes were obtained from students' report cards. Significant between physical activity and learning outcomes with a correlation value of -0.181 and a significance of 0.009. This means that the higher the students' physical activity level, the lower their learning outcomes. This result contradicts some theories that physical activity improves cognitive function and academic achievement. However, this finding can be explained through time management factors and the high intensity of physical activity, which can cause fatigue and reduce study time. This study provides important implications for schools and parents to help students optimally balance physical activity and study time.
