Abstract

The growth of the processed food industry in Indonesia shows a significant upward trend, in line with the high consumption of imported products such as marshmallows, which are popular with the public, especially among children and adolescents. However, basic marshmallow ingredients, such as gelatin, are often derived from animal sources whose halal status is unclear, raising concerns among Muslim consumers. Therefore, the implementation of halal certification is a crucial instrument in ensuring the safety and halal status of food products while simultaneously protecting consumer rights. This study aims to analyze the application of halal certification to processed marshmallow products and assess its effectiveness in protecting Muslim consumers. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method to understand in-depth the implementation of halal certification in processed food products, particularly marshmallow products, in the context of consumer protection. This approach was chosen because the research focuses on analyzing theories, concepts, regulations, and previous research results relevant to the topic under study. The results show that the implementation of halal certification in marshmallow products is not optimal due to limited raw material transparency and low awareness of the importance of halal certification among small producers. However, for certified producers, halal certification can increase consumer trust and strengthen the product's position in the market. Thus, halal certification plays an important role as a consumer protection instrument that needs to be strengthened through ongoing socialization and supervision.

Abstract

The halal industry in Indonesia continues to show rapid growth, supported by the world's largest Muslim population and increasing awareness of halal products. By 2025, the Indonesian halal market will have thousands of companies in the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical sectors with thousands of halal-certified products, indicating high demand and industry compliance. The government, through various policies and programs, actively encourages the development of this industry, including halal certification, training, and cross-sector collaboration. With increasing investment and the support of technology and the younger generation as drivers of innovation, Indonesia is optimistic that it will become a competitive global center for the halal industry. The growth of the halal industry is expected to be the main driver of inclusive and sustainable national economic development in the future.

Abstract

Indonesia aspires to become the world's leading producer and exporter of halal products, but the implementation of policies to accelerate halal certification still faces various challenges, especially among UMKM. The main obstacles include limited resources, low halal literacy, certification costs, and a process that is considered complicated. As a result, Indonesia remains a major importer of halal products despite its high domestic and global market potential. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the halal certification acceleration policy in order to improve the competitiveness of the halal industry in Indonesia. The method used is qualitative with a literature review approach based on secondary data. The results of the study show that the acceleration of certification is not fully proportional to the increase in the competitiveness of Indonesian halal product exports.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze in depth the factors that influence the decision of Muslim consumers to buy halal products in Indonesia. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study explores consumer perceptions, experiences, and considerations through literature, books, interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study show that the decision to purchase halal products is influenced by a number of factors that interact with each other, including religiosity, halal literacy, trust in halal certification, risk perception of non-halal products, and product quality and value. Social factors such as family, religious communities, and religious leaders also shape preferences and increase consumer awareness of the importance of consuming products in accordance with sharia. The research also found that government regulations through the Halal Product Assurance Law (JPH Law) strengthen public trust and encourage producers to be more transparent in the production process. Halal logos are an important indicator in consumer evaluation, while price factors, brand image, and marketing strategies that highlight Islamic values also influence purchasing decisions. In addition, digital media plays a big role in expanding halal literacy and shaping consumer opinion. Overall, the decision to purchase halal products is the result of a combination of religious motivation, knowledge, quality perception, social influence, and government policies. These findings provide implications for manufacturers, marketers, and regulators in developing more effective marketing and oversight strategies in the halal industry.

Abstract

This article examines the religious thought espoused by Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), and its central role in laying a solid foundation for religious moderation in Indonesia. Historically and sociologically, NU has successfully transformed Islamic teachings into an inclusive and adaptive social force, through the Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah (Aswaja) framework, dynamically interpreted as a methodology of thought (manhaj al-fikr). This qualitative research, based on a critical literature review of the works of NU thinkers, demonstrates that the core of renewal lies in the dialectic between the conservation of tradition (maintaining the good old) and contextual innovation (embracing the better new). This model serves as a natural antithesis to extremist narratives, positioning NU as a key anchor for the global discourse on washatiyyah (moderate) Islam.
