Early Childhood Research Journal (ECRJ) is a scientific journal of the early childhood education program of the Teaching and Education Faculty of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta focusing on the publication of scientific research results conducted by UMS internal and external academicians, especially in early childhood education. Early childhood research journal (ECRJ) publishes scientific articles in the field of pure and science about early childhood education including innovative and creative learning and teaching on early childhood education, detection of growth and development for early childhood, early childhood studies about nutritionists and health. Abstract

Penelitian ini penting untuk memahami implementasi kurikulum merdeka khususnya dalam praktik pembelajaran berbasis proyek dengan fokus pada tema “Aku Sayang Bumi”, penelitian ini akan mengevaluasi apakah pendekatan ini efektif dalam membangun kesadaran lingkungan dan keterampilan abad ke-21 pada anak usia dini, seperti berpikir kritis, kreatif, kolaboratif, dan komunikatif. Kurikulum merdeka belajar mendorong pembelajaran berbasis proyek yang relevan dengan kehidupan nyata. Tema “Aku Sayang Bumi” mengintegrasikan isu lingkungan yang sangat penting di era sekarang. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengidentifikasi tantangan dan keberhasilan dalam penerapan pembelajaran berbasis proyek, serta memberikan rekomendasi untuk pengembangan metode yang lebih inovatif dan kontekstual bagi anak usia dini. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian lapangan dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar pada pembelajaran proyek dengan tema “Aku Sayang Bumi” di BA Aisyiyah Krajan, Kecamatan Gatak, masih menghadapi sejumlah tantangan, namun juga memberikan potensi positif terhadap pengembangan karakter dan kesadaran lingkungan pada anak usia dini.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low character of children's environmental care. This can be seen from many children who throw garbage out of place, have not been able to sort garbage according to its type, and there are still children who like to pull flowers and leaves on plants in the school environment, there are still many children who do not keep their class clean. This study aims to determine the difference in the development of children's environmental care character between those treated with the project method and the storytelling method at Al Anis Islamic Kindergarten. The research method used was experimental method with posttest only design. The research data were obtained using performance tests. The analysis techniques used were unit analysis, prerequisite test, and hypothesis testing. The results of the study obtained a t value of 3,92 and a t table value at a significant level of 5% of 3,044, so that t count > t table is 3,92 > 3,044. These results indicate that there is a difference in the development of children's environmental care character between those treated with the project method and the storytelling method at Al-Anis Islamic Kindergarten.

Abstract

The introduction of letters to young children is often hindered by learning approaches that lack variety and engaging stimulation. This study aims to examine the effect of using Scrabble as a media game on improving letter recognition skills in children aged 5–6 years at TK Tunas Sejahtera. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The sample consisted of 22 children divided into an experimental group and a control group. Data collection techniques included observation, pre-test and post-test assessments, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test to measure the treatment’s effect. The results showed a significant improvement in the experimental group’s letter recognition ability, with an average post-test score of 22.27 compared to 10.36 in the pre-test. In comparison, the control group only improved from 8.36 to 17.27. Thus, Scrabble media games proved to be more effective. It can be concluded that Scrabble significantly enhances early childhood literacy, particularly in letter recognition. This research contributes to early literacy learning strategies and supports the use of creative educational media in early childhood education settings. The practical implication encourages teachers to integrate play-based learning in daily kindergarten activities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui strategi dalam meningkatkan kemampuan produktivitas anak dengan permainan lego pada anak usia 5–6 tahun di PAUD Ceria Adhyaksa Kota Makassar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan merupakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui teknik pengumpulan data seperti observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah guru kelas B2 di PAUD Ceria Adhyaksa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi yang digunakan guru dalam mengembangkan kreativitas anak meliputi: mendorong anak untuk mencoba hal-hal baru, menghargai ide-ide anak, memberikan pertanyaan pemantik untuk merangsang pemikiran kreatif, mengajak anak untuk bekerja sama dalam kegiatan, serta memberikan kebebasan kepada anak untuk berkreasi. Strategi-strategi ini efektif dalam menumbuhkan keberanian, imajinasi, dan kemampuan berpikir kreatif pada anak usia dini.

Abstract

Children have every potential that is expected to develop according to their growth and psychological level. This paper aims to determine: first, is there a relationship between early detection, parenting, and stimulation on children's independence, and second, to determine the variables that have the most significant influence on children's independence. This study uses a quantitative approach. The results of the study indicate that the effect of early detection on children's independence is positive and significant, from the results of the t-test of 2.276 and a significance value of 0.047 and a regression coefficient of 0.185. The effect of parenting on children's independence is positive and significant, from the results of the t-test of 1.422 and a significance value of 0.162 and a regression coefficient of 0.060. The effect of stimulation on children's independence is positive and significant, from the t-test of 2.181 and a significance value of 0.034 and a regression coefficient of 0.288. The independent variable that has the most influence on children's independence is the early detection variable (X1), from the results of the t-test with a t-test value of 2.276, when compared to other independent variables.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji penerapan Universal Design for Learning (UDL) dalam pendidikan anak usia dini (PAUD) melalui pendekatan Systematic Literature Review (SLR) dengan kerangka PRISMA. UDL merupakan pendekatan inklusif yang dirancang untuk mengakomodasi keberagaman peserta didik melalui desain kurikulum yang fleksibel, adaptif, dan dapat diakses oleh semua anak. Analisis dilakukan terhadap 13 sumber literatur terakreditasi yang relevan dengan topik UDL dan keberagaman pada anak usia dini. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa UDL berkembang sebagai respons terhadap kebutuhan akan pendidikan yang adil dan inklusif sejak dini. Strategi implementasi UDL di PAUD mencakup desain pembelajaran fleksibel, pengenalan gaya belajar anak, serta penguatan kapasitas guru. Penerapan UDL terbukti meningkatkan aksesibilitas, partisipasi, dan motivasi belajar anak, termasuk bagi mereka yang memiliki kebutuhan khusus. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa UDL berkontribusi pada pembelajaran yang berpihak pada anak dan menghargai keberagaman. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi teoritis dan praktis untuk mendukung perancangan lingkungan belajar yang inklusif di jenjang PAUD.

Abstract

Abad ke-21 menuntut penguasaan keterampilan 4C (Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication, dan Collaboration) distimulus sejak usia dini sebagai fondasi anak dalam menghadapi kompleksitas kehidupan. Namun, efektivitas media pembelajaran dalam mengembangkan keterampilan tersebut pada jenjang Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD) belum banyak disintesis secara komprehensif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh media pembelajaran terhadap keterampilan abad ke-21 pada anak usia dini dengan fokus pada dimensi 4C berdasarkan hasil-hasil penelitian terdahulu. Penelitian ini menggunakan Pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode meta-analisis, dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa pencarian artikel di Google Scholar tahun 2020–2025 dan seleksi berdasarkan kriteria inklusi eksperimental, variabel 4C, dan populasi anak usia dini. Sepuluh artikel memenuhi kriteria dan dianalisis menggunakan perhitungan effect size. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa semua keterampilan 4C memperoleh pengaruh yang signifikan, dengan rata-rata effect size terbesar pada komunikasi (5,36), keterampilan berpikir kritis (2,46), dan kreativitas (1,28). Media pembelajaran seperti Card Sort, permainan akuatik, multimedia, dan bahan alam menunjukkan efektivitas tinggi dalam membangun kapasitas kognitif dan sosial anak. Temuan ini memperkuat relevansi pendekatan konstruktivistik dan pembelajaran berbasis pengalaman dalam konteks pendidikan usia dini. Kesimpulannya, media pembelajaran berperan signifikan dalam mendukung pengembangan keterampilan abad ke-21 anak usia dini dan dapat menjadi acuan bagi pendidik dan pembuat kebijakan dalam merancang intervensi pembelajaran yang adaptif dan kontekstual.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of daily prayer habituation on the development of religious and moral values in children aged 4–5 years at TK Yamassa Surabaya. The background of this research is the increasing use of digital technology, which has led to a decline in social interaction and children's understanding of religious and moral values. Preliminary observations indicated that some children had not yet developed the ability to recite daily prayers properly due to inappropriate behavior. The research uses a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling. Data collection was conducted through observation and documentation. Data analysis included descriptive analysis, Normality Test, Homogeneity Test, and t-Test using IBM SPSS version 30. The results of the descriptive analysis showed an average pre-test score of 9.60 and a post-test score of 16.05. The normality test (Shapiro-Wilk) indicated that the data were normally distributed, with a pre-test value of 0.087 and a post-test value of 0.116. The homogeneity test showed that the data were homogeneous with a value of 0.175 > 0.05. The t-test showed a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, which means there is a significant effect of daily prayer habituation. Based on these results, it can be concluded that daily prayer habituation has an effect on the development of religious and moral values in children aged 4–5 years at TK Yamassa Surabaya. It is suggested that educators, schools, and future researchers be more innovative in developing daily prayer habituation through various activities.

Abstract

Empathy is a crucial aspect that should be nurtured from an early age as a foundation for character development and children’s socialization skills. This study aims to identify the implementation of empathy regulation in children aged 2–4 years at Islamic educational institutions, specifically at KBIT RA Alif Smart Surakarta. The research focuses on four forms of empathy: emotional, cognitive, reflective, and pro-social, as demonstrated by the children toward their peers and teaching staff (ustadzah). This study employs a qualitative descriptive method, involving 7 participants teachers (ustadzah) from KBIT RA Alif Smart with an age range of 20 – 49 years. The findings indicate that most children have developed strong empathetic abilities across all four aspects. Children’s empathetic behaviors are reflected in their ability to imitate the empathetic actions of peers, learn through the exemplary conduct of their teachers, and take personal initiative in showing care for others. The study concludes that empathy regulation at KBIT RA Alif Smart has been effectively implemented through approaches that align with the developmental stages of early childhood.

Abstract

Early Childhood Education (PAUD) plays a crucial role in building the foundation of children's development. However, its implementation in Indonesia still faces obstacles related to teacher qualifications and abilities. This study aims to describe the competency profile of PAUD teachers, covering pedagogical, professional, social, and personality aspects during learning activities at Al-Manar Kindergarten. This study employed a qualitative method with a case study approach, using data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that teachers have not fully met the competency standards stipulated in the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation Number 137 of 2014. From a pedagogical perspective, the learning process still feels monotonous and has not adopted the principle of learning through play. From a professional perspective, mastery of material and use of learning aids are still limited. Social competence is adequate, but has not yet implemented an inclusive learning approach. In terms of personality, teachers display good ethics, but emotional control needs to be improved. In general, teacher abilities do not fully support optimal learning for early childhood. Therefore, steps are needed to improve teacher professional development and competency to improve the quality of PAUD.
