Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to develop the prototype of Indonesian language teaching material for the aspect of speaking skills by adopting the local culture and determine the level of stakeholder acceptance of the developed teaching material. This study was conducted using a research and development approach. The research samples were gathered using a purposive sampling technique. The data were obtained through the following stages: a focus group discussion (FGD) on the prototype of teaching material, evaluation of the prototype by expert judgment, limited and large-scale tryouts; and the stakeholder acceptance of teaching material. Data analysis was performed using a t-test by comparing the outcomes of learning using the developed learning material and the outcomes of learning using the provided material (compulsory book). The results of this study have depicted that the outcomes of teaching material prototype development are evaluated in terms of content feasibility, presentation feasibility, and linguistic feasibility. Evaluation on the stakeholder acceptance has revealed that the developed teaching material in the form of a calendar appears to be more effective than the teaching material in the form of a compulsory book. A calendar increases students’ interest and comfort while also teaching them to be more self-directed in their learning. Abstract

Morpheme in the language of Dai has two types of morphemes, i.e. free morphemes and bound morphemes. Generally, the free morphemes are words having single morphemes and consisting of one syllable, as: wun 'roof, wat 'stone', dan mok 'mug'; consisting of two syllables, as: suon 'wind' kamnak 'redpepper', dan nu?man 'how; and consisting of three or more syllables, as: nepno?or 'right', nyema:nyim 'food', dan nananemoh 'horsefly'. On the contrary, the bound morpheme might have sense when it combines with other word or morpheme. Process of this combination might occur through morphemic process as affixation. Using descriptive method and participative observation technique in order to support collected data through questionnaire technique.

Abstract

The Indonesian language has a unique grammatical construction for verbs, which is the product of a derivational process that results in a deadjectival verb (VDaj). These VDaj constructions are morphologically marked by the affix {ber-}. This affix is commonly utilized in the Indonesian language and can be found, for instance, in the form of {berberat hati}, {berbulat hati}, and {berputih hati}. A recent study aimed to identify and describe the affix {ber-} use in VDaj construction as a phenomenon of morphosemantics. The study utilized data in Indonesian sentences in which the affix {ber-} of VDaj had been structured as one of its constituents. The data sources for this study were the Indonesian-Leipzig Corpora Collection (ILCC) and Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (KBBI), and the data was obtained using the technique of textual documentation. The study analysis was done using the immediate defragmentation technique and referential comparison of meaning in the light of Derivational Morphology and Derivational Semantics. The analysis resulted in two main findings. First, the study found that the morphosemantic features of affix {ber-} could be construed to some extent if the affix had been distributed with one of the adjectival types. Second, the study identified at least three specific features of the affix in the VDaj of bI: (a) to form the VDaj in the type of STATE VERB, (b) to incorporate the semantic role of BENEFACTIVE in the argument of VDaj, and (c) in a narrow condition to create the RECIPROCAL meaning of VDaj. Overall, this study sheds light on the unique characteristics of the Indonesian language and provides valuable insights into the morphosemantic features of the affix {ber-} in VDaj construction.
