Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology and the increasing access to the internet among children and adolescents have raised concerns about their vulnerability to cybercrime. In Islamic educational settings, particularly among santri (Quranic students), exposure to digital platforms without adequate digital literacy or protection mechanisms can lead to significant risks. This research explores the extent of cybercrime awareness among santri and evaluates the preventive efforts taken by Islamic education institutions to safeguard their students. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation from selected Islamic schools. The study found that while many santri regularly access online content through mobile devices, their understanding of cyber threats such as online fraud, cyberbullying, and exposure to inappropriate content remains low. Most institutions lack structured programs for digital literacy or cyber safety education, and there is limited parental or institutional supervision of online activity. However, there is strong potential for integrating digital safety awareness into religious teachings, reinforcing values such as honesty, modesty, and responsibility in digital behavior. The study concludes that effective protection against cybercrime requires collaborative efforts involving educators, parents, and policymakers. Recommendations include the development of culturally relevant digital literacy modules, training for teachers, and community-based campaigns to raise awareness about cyber safety in religious contexts. This research highlights the urgent need to bridge the digital safety gap for Quranic students, ensuring their well-being in an increasingly connected world.

Abstract

This community service program aims to empower the women members of Rumpin Cahaya Hati in Pleburan Subdistrict, South Semarang District, Semarang City, through training in garment-making skills using zero-waste techniques. The program is motivated by the fact that most of the participants are unemployed, and therefore it is expected that they can make productive use of their free time while also developing sewing skills. The activity involved 15 participants and was conducted using training methods such as lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on practice. The program was carried out over four sessions, consisting of one theoretical session and three practical sessions. The outputs of the program included a garment-making module and women’s apparel products developed with a zero-waste approach. The training results indicated an improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills, covering body measurement, pattern making and modification, fabric cutting, sewing processes, and garment finishing with neatness and proper techniques. In addition, the outputs of the program were disseminated through publications in national journals, local mass media, and video highlights. This program is expected to create new economic opportunities for the participants, both for personal use and as a potential tailoring business in the future.

Abstract

After Indonesia became a signatory to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) in 1994, Indonesia already had regulations that became the legal basis for the protection of patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, integrated circuit layout designs, industrial designs, plant variety protection, and geographical indications. In Indonesia, of all the types of IP that have been written, only a few types of IP are quite popular, namely patents, copyrights, and trademarks. Based on the theory of legal awareness stated by Soerjono Soekamto, if someone knows a regulation then it is included in the category of having knowledge only. In fact, for each regulation, the community does not only stop at the level of knowledge but also the level of understanding, attitudes, and behavior to be able to know their legal awareness. In relation to IP regulations, the community (in relation to this community service activity, those who have the potential to own IP, namely Teachers and Students) is expected not only to stop at the level of knowledge but also at the level of behavior (in this case the expected behavior is, at least to record and/or register the IP they own). With the three pillars of IP stipulated, namely registration/recording, commercialization, and protection. IP regulations in Indonesia stipulate that IP that can be protected is IP that has been registered with the DJKI. In connection with the relative lack of understanding of high school/vocational school teachers and students in Semarang City related to the focus and three pillars of IP, it is urgent for the UNNES academic community to contribute significantly as a facilitator to improve the understanding of IP protection with a focus on Copyright for high school and vocational school teachers in Semarang City by conducting workshops and facilitating IP recording/registration.

Abstract

Although Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been widely explored in higher education, research on its integration in elementary teacher training remains limited, particularly in developing contexts. This study investigates whether AI-based training can enhance teachers’ efficiency in developing instructional media. A quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test–post-test approach was employed. Twenty elementary school teachers from Indonesia participated in a four-week training program involving lectures, guided practice, and mentoring on AI platforms such as ChatGPT, QuillBot, Canva AI, and Quizizz AI. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test assessments (15 multiple-choice items) and a perception questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale. Results showed a significant increase in teachers’ understanding, with mean scores rising from 55.6 to 86.1, indicating a 30.5-point improvement. Teachers also reported high satisfaction with the training (M = 4.76/5), especially regarding efficiency and applicability in classroom practice. These findings suggest that short-term AI-based professional development can reduce teachers’ workload, strengthen digital literacy, and support sustainable educational innovation. The study contributes to global discussions on leveraging AI for teacher capacity building, particularly in resource-constrained elementary education systems.

Abstract

Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) represent a vulnerable group within transnational legal systems, particularly when facing issues related to marriage and joint property abroad. The low level of legal literacy—especially concerning prenuptial and postnuptial agreements—has resulted in many migrant workers lacking awareness of their legal rights and obligations. This article aims to analyze the urgency of improving marriage agreement literacy among Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia and to examine its relevance within the context of legal protection and social justice. This study employs a socio-legal method with an empirical approach through a community service program conducted at the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Kuala Lumpur. The findings indicate that improving literacy on marriage agreements not only strengthens the legal standing of migrant workers in cross-border marriages but also serves as a preventive mechanism against potential economic and social losses resulting from legal ignorance.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve instructors' skills in writing scientific articles and English presentations to strengthen their participation in international seminars. The main problems identified were instructors' poor ability to write articles that adhere to scientific principles and limited academic presentation skills in English. The activity was implemented in three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. The training methods used included guided writing, concept presentations, hands-on practice, and intensive mentoring. Evaluation was conducted through pre- and post-tests, practical performance assessments, and participant satisfaction questionnaires. The training results showed significant improvements in knowledge and skills. The average post-test score for participants increased compared to the pre-test, indicating an improved understanding of scientific writing structure and presentation techniques. Eighty-five percent of participants were able to produce complete drafts of scientific articles and demonstrated improved skills in preparing and delivering academic presentations in English, including aspects of delivery, fluency, and slide design. Furthermore, the participant satisfaction rate reached 92%, indicating that the training materials and strategies were considered relevant and beneficial for their professional development. However, this activity still has limitations, particularly related to the training duration and the variation in participants' initial abilities. Overall, this program is effective in improving the academic competency of instructors and has the potential to be replicated on a wider scale to support the continuous increase in scientific publications and international participation.
