Abstract

This research analyzes cross-language contrasts in the form of verb affixations in Indonesian and English. The data sources used in this research are the Berbie cartoon entitled "Berbie It Takes Two part 1" and the Rainbow Ruby cartoon entitled "Royal Princess Duties". In this research, researchers used qualitative descriptive methods. In this research, the listening method was used with basic tapping techniques and advanced techniques in the form of note-taking techniques. Researchers also use recording techniques by making a list of data from the languages ​​studied, in this context, namely Indonesian and English. Based on the research results, twenty prefix and suffix affixation data were found in Indonesian and English. This research aims to compare the similarities and differences in verb affixation between Indonesian and English in this cartoon film. The similarities between affixation in these two languages ​​are the emergence of new words, modification of meaning, and changes in word categories. Even though these two affixations have differences, in both languages ​​they both have an important role in enriching the vocabulary and enabling the formation of new words that have certain meanings.

Abstract

This research aims to develop teaching materials for phase E recount texts assisted by augmented reality in high school using Brog and Gall development research procedures. Subjects This research consists of material expert validators, media expert validators, design expert validators and Indonesian language subject teachers at Nurul Islam Indonesia High School. Data collection techniques used in this development research are documentation to analyze teaching materials, interviews to find out problems in learning and questionnaires to validate to find out the problems in learning and questionnaires to validate the developed product. The results of this study indicate that the teaching materials augmented reality-assisted recount text teaching materials that have been developed are in the in very good qualifications / very feasible with a value of 90.6% from material expert validators, validators of 90.6%, media expert validators of 88.3%, design expert validators of 92.5% and subject matter teachers of 95.5%. Based on the assessment. The final result of the average feasibility of the material developed is 91.7% with very good / very feasible qualifications so that it can be drawn conclusion that the teaching material for recount text assisted by augmented Reality teaching materials developed are very feasible to use during learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explain the effect of the prediction guide learning model on the ability to write a fantasy story in the text of seventh-grade students at SMPN 6 Percut Sei Tuan. The population in this study was all seventh grade students, with a sample size of 64. The assessment instrument used is the structure and linguistic rules of fantasy story text. The method used is the experimental method of a two-group post-test design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The data collection techniques used were observation, testing, and documentation. The data analysis technique used was the data analysis requirements test, normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing. Based on the results of the data analysis, it was found that the data results were normally distributed. After doing the normality test, Lcount < Ltabel at a significant level, the results of the X variable data normality test are (0.1514 < 0.1568), and the results of the Y variable data normality test are (0.1529 < 0.1568). The results of the homogeneity test are Fhitung < Ftabel, namely 1.72 < 1.82, and the hypothesis test t0> ttabel, namely 3.56 > 2.039. The results of the research in the experimental class obtained by the average student reached 80.87, which is included in the good category. The acquisition of very good category scores was at a rate of 47%, while those in the very poor category only reached 6%. The research results in the control class obtained an average of 68 students included in the sufficient category. The acquisition of a very good category is in the percentage of 3%, while those in the category are very few and reach 31%. This proves that the Prediction Guide learning model has a significant influence on the ability to write fantasy story texts of VII grade students at SMPN 6 Percut Sei Tuan.

Abstract

It cannot be ignored how important to instill character values from an early age to shape children’s personalities. Childhood is a crucial time for building ways of thinking and behaving, and the moral principles established during this period will form a strong foundation for their actions and attitudes in the future. The purpose of this study is to analyze the character values in the book The Golden Apple by Tere Liye. This research is qualitative using a descriptive method. The data analyzed are taken from The Golden Apple by Tere Liye, which contains character values. The technique used in this research involves reading and text analysis. This technique involves thorough reading and analysis of the book’s text to identify the character values contained within it. The focus is on the text, actions, and character portrayals in the book. The results of the data analysis through description have identified several character values in The Golden Apple by Tere Liye.

Abstract

This study aims (1) to determine the ability to present biography text in class X SMA Swasta Katolik Budi Murni 2 Medan with expository learning model; (2) to determine the ability to present biography text in class X SMA Swasta Katolik Budi Murni 2 Medan with talking stick learning model assisted by audio visual media; (3) to determine the effect of talking stick learning model assisted by audio visual media on the ability to present biography text in class X SMA Swasta Katolik Budi Murni 2 Medan. The population in this study were all grade X students of SMA Swasta Katolik Budi Murni 2 Medan which amounted to 246 students. The samples in this study were students of class X-2 as the experimental class and X-3 as the control class, each totaling 34 students. This study used a quasi-experimental method. In this study, the research design used was two group post-test only control design using a quantitative approach. The research instrument used was a performance test in the form of a post-test presenting a national hero.  The results showed (1) The ability to present biography text in class X SMA Swasta Katolik Budi Murni 2 Medan with the expository learning model was classified in the sufficient category with an average score of 69.21; (2) The ability to present biography text in class X SMA Swasta Katolik Budi Murni 2 Medan with the talking stick learning model assisted by audio-visual media was classified in the good category with an average score of 82.59; (3) There was a significant difference in average scores between the experimental class and the control class which indicated that the talking stick learning model was more effective in improving the ability to present biography text in class X SMA Swasta Katolik Budi Murni 2 Medan. Through hypothesis testing, T_hitung = 8.26 and T_table = 1.99 were obtained. Thus it can be concluded that T_hitung > T_table is 8.26> 1.99 so that H_0 is rejected and H_1 is accepted, meaning that there is an effect of using the talking stick learning model assisted by audio-visual media on the ability to present biographical text in class X SMA Swasta Katolik Budi Murni 2 Medan.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of using the picture and picture learning model on the ability to retell fable texts in class VII of SMP Negeri 6 Percut Sei Tuan. In this research, the model used is a qualitative method, a research method using Quasi Experiment, and a two group posttest design research design. The subjects in this study were 64 people who were divided into two classes, namely class VII-5 as the control class group and VII-1 as the experimental class group, where each number of students was 32 people. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, tests and documentation. Based on the results of the test data analysis, it can be seen that the average score for the control class group is 77.37 in the good category and the experimental class group is 83.62 in the very good category. Apart from that, the normality and homogeneity tests show that the results obtained are normal and homogeneous. Through hypothesis testing, results show with tcount 4.60 and ttable 1.67, where the tcount obtained is greater than ttable, namely 4.60 > 1.67, so it can be stated that the hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. This proves that the Picture and Picture Learning Model influences the ability to retell fable texts in class VII students at SMP Negeri 6 Percut Sei Tuan for the 2023/2024 academic year.

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of the audiolingual drill method in improving the English speaking ability of tenth grade students at MA Al-Izzah As'Adiyah, consist of 2 parallel classes. This study used quantitative research, methods that employ numerical data for clarifying conclusions. This research design allowed you to compare two groups of students, namely, the experimental group that received audio-lingual drill treatment and control group that received the conventional learning method. The primary outcome of this study indicated that although there was no discernible increase in terms of accuracy or grammar, students in the experiment group spoke with greater confidence. The study's findings support the notion that, when it comes to helping students become better communicators, the audio lingual drill method outperforms the traditional learning approach.

Abstract

This research aims to describe students' abilities in writing reviews of works of fiction for class VIII SMP Negeri 10 Kendari. The method used in this research is a quantitative descriptive method. The sampling technique used Proportional Stratified Random Sampling, namely 92 students consisting of five classes. To obtain data about the ability to write reviews of works of fiction, the instrument used in this research is needed, namely a written test. Individually, there were 23 students (25%) who were in the capable category and 69 students (75%) were in the unable category to write reviews of works of fiction. What can be concluded classically is that class VIII students at SMP Negeri 10 Kendari are in the category of not being able to write reviews of works of fiction. It is said that they are not yet capable because individually students have not reached the Learning Completeness Criteria (KKTP) of 66% (25%) and have reached the classical completeness criteria of 85%. Judging from the level of student ability in each aspect of the assessment, namely the identity of the short story (100%), the character of the story (98.91%), the nature of the character (68.47%), the setting of the place (53.26%), the setting of the time (91.30%), background atmosphere (35.86%), theme (68.47%), storyline (%), student opinions (%), reviewer assessment (5.43%), words that contain connotative meanings and denotation (3.26%). Of the total aspects assessed, eight aspects were included in the deficient category because classically the percentage did not reach the Classical Achievement Criteria of 85%.

Abstract

The problem in this research concerns the variety of languages ​​found on Instagram social media and the various characteristics of the linguistic varieties found on Instagram social media. This research aims to describe the variety of languages ​​and the characteristics of the various languages ​​present on the Instagram social network, finding the contribution of the various languages ​​on the Instagram social network. The research method used in this research is a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. Meanwhile, the methods and techniques used to analyze the data are note reading and screen capture method. And the data presentation method used in this research is the observation method. The data search results are as follows: Language varieties according to their characteristics are divided into 8 focuses, namely as follows: (1) Writing words different from the original form, (2) Writing shortened words, (3) Writing sentences different from the original form, (4)) Writing shortened sentences, (5) Using symbols and numbers, (6) Using greetings, (7) Using other varieties of language, and (8) Using foreign languages. Furthermore, various slang languages ​​have been taken and are often used on Instagram based on the type and meaning, namely: In the prokem there are 4 words that have been chosen to represent the use of various languages ​​on Instagram, namely: @ memecomic.id "roasting", @jakartakeras "udh", @kendariinfo “matchday” @vidiongakakterbaru “guru”. The results of this analysis can contribute to the teaching of Indonesian at university.

Abstract

This research aims to describe and analyze religious values ​​in the novel Untukmu Imamku by Nur Hoiriah. The method used is descriptive qualitative with the type of library research. The data collected in this research is written data related to the religious values ​​contained in the novel. The data source comes from the novel Untukmu Imamku by Nur Hoiriah, published by Maple Books in 2022, with 296 pages. Data collection techniques use analytical reading techniques. Data were analyzed using a religious approach. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the religious values ​​identified include several moral aspects, namely: (1) the value of patience , (2) the value of humility, (3) the value of trust, (4) the value of honesty, (5) the value of sincerity, and (6) the value of discipline.
