Abstract

This study aimed to develop the starter system’s learning media on a motorcycle and analyze the effect on students’ learning outcomes. This developmental research used the 4D model. Experts, teachers, and students were involved in validating the product’s content and feasibility. Quasi-experimental was applied to test the effect of using media on 14 students of the eleventh grade of automotive engineering expertise as an experimental class and 14 students as a control class. The data were collected using questionnaires and tests, then analyzed using an independent t-test. The results show that the learning media for the starter system stand on a motorcycle is feasible for learning. Based on the expert judgment, media have been declared good media, and students showed their interest in using the media. There was a significant difference in students’ learning outcomes that use and without media use.

Abstract

This study was aimed to investigate the chemistry teacher knowledge related STEM integration in chemistry learning at automotive engineering programme of vocational school This research belonged to descriptive study with survey methods. The samples consisted of 19 ChTAE at automotive vocational school in Bantul Regency, Indonesia that were established through saturated sampling technique. The preceding knowledge about the IC-STEM learning integration of ChTAE were achieved by using STEM Knowledge Questionnaire (STEM-KQ) consisting of 9 opened questions. The responses of ChTAE toward STEM-KQ were analysed using question-by-question with interpretative coding of content analysis. The results of this research indicate that the ChTAE have good knowledge in defining and explaining STEM which in line with chemistry subject. However, their skills in designing and implementing CI-STEM still need to be enhanced. As the matter of that, the ChTAE must follow the activities relating with the preparation of CI-STEM. Therefore, the ChTAE could implement a meaningful chemistry subject in line with automotive expertise programme at vocational school.

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan desain didaktis berdasarkan gaya belajar baik visual, auditori, maupun kinestetik untuk meningkatkan tahapan kemampuan berpikir reflektif matematis (KBRM) dan disposisi berpikir reflektif matematis (DBRM) siswa SMA. Pengembangan desain didaktis ini dilakukan melalui tiga tahapan yakni analisis kebutuhan, pengembangan produk, dan uji coba. Analisis kebutuhan dilakukan dengan kegiatan studi pustaka dan survei. Hasil survei menunjukkan pentingnya desain didaktis untuk peningkatan tahapan KBRM dan DBRM yang memfasilitasi berbagai gaya belajar siswa. Kegiatan pengembangan dilakukan dengan merancang desain didaktis berbasis komputer yang memfasilitasi siswa dengan berbagai jenis gaya belajar dan memvalidasi produk pada ahli. Desain berbasis komputer memuat 8 indikator KBRM. Uji coba dilakukan melalui uji skala terbatas. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner, dokumen, dan catatan lapangan. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa desain didaktis yang dikembangkan sudah memfasilitasi siswa dengan gaya belajar visual, auditori, dan kinestetik. Desain didaktis yang dihasilkan berupa bahan ajar interaktif berbasis komputer yang memuat menu, indikator, soal beserta pengajuan pertanyaan reflektif, dan refleksi. Kata kunci: berpikir reflektif matematis, disposisi reflektif matematis, gaya belajar  DEVELOPING DIDACTIC DESAIN FOR IMPROVING MATHEMATIC REFLECTION THINKING SKILL AND THINKING DISPOSISION  AbstractThis research was aimmed at developing a didactic design based on the learning style namely visual, auditory, or kinesthetic to enhance the ability of the stages of mathematic reflective thinking and disposition of mathematic reflective thinking of high school students. Developing the didactic design was done through three phases namely a needs analysis, product development, and testing. Needs analysis was conducted with the literature study and survey. The survey results show the importance of didactic design to increasethe ability of the stages of mathematic reflective thinking and disposition of mathematic reflective thinking that facilitate various learning styles of students. The development was carried out by designing a didactic design based computer that facilitates students with different types of learning styles and validated by the product experts. The design contains 8 indicators which were tested with limited scale test. The data werre collected using questionnaires, documents, and field notes.The data were in the form of qualitative and quantitative descriptions. The results show that the developed didactic design has facilitated the student's learning style visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. The didactic designed was a computer based interactive teaching materials that contains menus, indicators, along with the matter of the submission of reflective questions, and reflection.Keywords: reflective thinking mathematically, mathematical reflective disposition, style of learning

Abstract

This research aim to: (1) assess the need of Guidance and Counseling teachers concerning module material for increasing psychological preparedness of senior high school students in facing natural disaster; (2) develop and also validate module mentioned at the first purpose of this research. This research apply research and development approach for module validation and development. The research variable in this study is psychological preparedness in facing natural disaster; Psychological preparedness consisted of cognitive, affective and psychomotoric readiness; while natural disaster anticipated in this module cover earthquake, mount erupt and tropical cyclone. Research subject consist of 48 Guidance and Counseling teachers in special region of Yogyakarta for the purpose of need assessment; and for testing module validity, besides tested by three expert people, they are each expert in Guidance and Counseling, expert in natural disaster and mitigation, and expert in media, module is also tried out to user subject, that is Guidance and Counseling teachers of senior high school in special region of Yogyakarta. The try out sequentially involve 6 people at initial field, 15 people at main field, and 65 people at operational field. Instruments applied to collect data are either opened or closed questionnaires. The collected data, the quantitative as well as the qualitative one were analyzed descriptively. Results obtained from this research are: (1) Material required by Guidance and Counseling teachers for module of psychological preparedness in facing natural disaster cover cognitive aspect ( 14,58%), affective aspect ( 31,25%) and psychomotoric aspect ( 52,08%). (2) The module of "Personal-Social Guidance for increasing Psychological Preparedness of Students in Facing Natural Disaster" which is developed besides based on result of need assessment, also based on literature study by considering potential disaster for special region of Yogyakarta, therefore module developed cover three activities of personal-social services, each to face natural disaster of (a) earthquake, (b) mount erupt, and (c) tropical cyclone.(3) module validated is valued proper either in appearance or in concept, and also useful as media for assisting to perform service of personal-social guidance to increase psychological preparedness of senior high school students in facing natural disaster. Further, the module is valued self-contained for having fulfilled acceptance criterion ( subject reach 80 % minimum understanding) at the test of content understanding and module readability. Abstract

The aim of this study was to improve the learning effectiveness of both learning process quality and standard competency achievement in the application of the competency-based contextual learning model in the Cooling Technique and Air Management class. The study was conducted in Elekctrical Department of Engineering Faculty of Yogyakarta State University. The study was classroom action research involving several cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 13 D3 students who took the subject of the Cooling Technique and Air Management during the odd semester in the academic year of 2008/2009. Data were gathered using questionnaires, observation, tests, and tasks or quizzes. Data analysis was descriptive using percentages. The results showed that the use of the competency-based contextual learning model on the subject of Cooling Technique and Air Management was able to improve learning effectiveness of both the process and output of learning. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan kinerja  guru.  Faktor-faktor  tersebut  meliputi  tingkat  pendidikan  guru,  pengetahuan  tentang standar pendidikan, dukungan sesama guru, gaya kepemimpinan kepala sekolah, dan lingkungan fisik sekolah dengan kinerja guru SMA/MA Negeri di Kabupaten Alor. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah ex-post facto. Populasi penelitian adalah guru SMA/MA se-Kabupaten Alor dengan sampel guru pada SMA Negeri 1, SMA Negeri 2 Kalabahi, SMA Negeri Alor Barat Daya, dan MA Negeri Kalabahi Kabupaten Alor. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan angket. Adapun teknik analisis data digunakan teknik analisis korelasi dan regresi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) tingkat pendidikan guru memiliki hubungan yang positif dan signifikan dengan kinerja guru dengan r 0,05; (2) pengetahuan guru tentang standar pendidikan memiliki hubungan yang positif dan signifikan dengan kinerja guru dengan r 0,05; (3) dukungan sesama guru memiliki hubungan yang positif dan signifikan dengan kinerja guru dengan r 0,05; (4) gaya kepemimpinan kepala sekolah memiliki hubungan yang positif dan signifikan dengan kinerja guru dengan r 0,05; (5) lingkungan fisik sekolah memiliki hubungan yang positif dan signifikan dengan kinerja guru dengan r 0,05; (6) terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara tingkat pendidikan guru,  pengetahuan  tentang  standar  pendidikan,  dukungan  sesama  guru,  gaya  kepemimpinan kepala sekolah, dan lingkungan fisik sekolah secara bersama-sama dengan kinerja guru dengan sumbangannya terhadap kinerja guru sebesar 35%.

Abstract

Tujuan  penelitian  ini adalah untuk mendeskrpsikan peningkatan pembelajaran soft skills terintegrasi bagi penumbuhan karakter pekerja profesional pada mata kuliah pengembangan produk patiseri. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang bersifat kolaboratif dengan melibatkan dua dosen kolaborator. Proses penelitian dilakukan melalui dua siklus. Desain penelitian tindakan kelas menggunakan tahapan perencanaan, tindakan, pemantauan, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa Pendidikan Teknik Boga peserta mata kuliah pengembangan produk patiseri yang berjumlah 37 mahasiswa. Metode pengumpulan data kualitatif dengan observasi, sedangkan metode kuantitatif dengan evaluasi diri. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar observasi dan ekspresi diri. Analisis data  menggunakan teknik deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi pembelajaran soft skills berbasis karakter secara efektif dapat meningkatkan penguasaan soft skills bidang produksi dan manajerial serta nilai-nilai karakter kebogaan. Rerata perubahan bergerak antara 0,1 sampai dengan 0,4. Perilaku soft skills yang belum berubah adalah strategi berpikir dan usaha keras untuk mencapai sukses pada bidang kerja produktif.

Abstract

There was an indication that cultural local wisdoms in theJavanese culture became limited, isolated, not recognized, andeven not “communicable” around the youth, so that localwisdoms were only part of the past. The purpose of the presentstudy was to develop teaching resources as supplement forexisting student textbooks to re-socialize Javanese culture localwisdoms for elementary school students. The study wasconducted by use of the research and development method. Thelocal wisdom material was found from older citizens who werepotential to keep the local wisdom wealth, by deep interview, orfrom articles or literatures (documents). Before being tried out,the material was validated by Javanese Language experts.Translation into the Javanese language was done by a seniorteacher (retired Elementary School Headmaster). Limited tryoutwas done for Sixth-grade elementary school students. Thestudy yielded a set of teaching resources containing variantidentifications of local wisdoms found in stories relevant withchildren’s condition. The teaching resources were ready to besocialized for elementary school students, specially the sixthgraders, as one of the efforts to treasure local wisdoms.

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis lintasan belajar yang dapat membantu siswa memahami konsep volume kubus dan balok menggunakan cara filling dan packing di Kelas V SD. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode design research tipe validation study. Pendekatan pembelajaran yang digunakan adalah Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI). Subjek penelitian adalah siswa Kelas V MI Ma’had Islamy Palembang Sumatera Selatan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, membuat rekaman video tentang kejadian di kelas dan kerja kelompok, mengumpulkan hasil kerja siswa, memberikan tes awal dan tes akhir, dan mewawancarai siswa. Data dianalisis secara restropektif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lintasan belajar yang diperoleh dapat membantu siswa dalam memahami konsep volume kubus dan balok, yaitu menemukan isi kubus dan balok melalui aktivitas filling, menemukan bahwa balok yang banyak isi dari pada kubus melalui kegiatan membandingkan, menemukan konsep volume kubus dan balok, menemukan volume kubus melalui aktivitas packing, menemukan rumus volume kubus, menemukan volume dari balok melalui aktivitas packing, menemukan rumus volume balok, dan menyimpulkan rumus volume kubus dan balok.Kata kunci: volume kubus dan balok, filling dan packing, design research THE CUBE AND CUBOID VOLUME LEARNING DESIGN USING FILLING AND PACKING METHOD IN THE FIFTH GRADE OF PRIMARY SCHOOL AbstractThis study was aimed at producing a learning design that can help the students to understand the concept of cube and cuboid volume using the filling and packing method in the fifth grade of the primary school. The approach used was PMRI. The subjects were the students of the fifth grade of MI Ma’had Islamy Palembang, South Sumatera. The study used validation study research design. The results show that the learning design is able to help students in understanding the concept of cube and cuboid volume; the contents of cube and cuboid through the activity of filling, the beams have more volume than the cube through comparing, the concept of the cubes and cuboid volume, the volume of a cube through the activity of packing, a formula of cube volume, the volume of the cuboid through the activity of packing, cuboid volume formula, and the conclusing out of cubes and cuboid formulas.Keyword: cube and cuboid volume, filling and packing, learning design

Abstract

This study was aimed at determining the usage of social capital to cope with the disaster and school resilience in disaster mitigation education and describing the resilience profiles of the schools in Bantul dan Sleman. The study was qualitative research conducted in high schools located in Sleman and Bantul, Yogyakarta. The subjects were teachers and students. The data were collected using observation, interviews, active participation, FGD, documentation, and questionnaires. The data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, categorization, interpretation and presentation. Findings show that first, there exists social capital in the form collaboration and social norms between the schools and the society; second, disaster-prone areas need to improve and reform aspects of the school resilience consisting of improvement between the school and the society, establishment of clear rules and consistency in taking them, teaching students life skills, care and support in  realizing and communicating high expectations, and providing opportunities for meaningful participation.MODAL SOSIAL DAN RESILIENSI SEKOLAH UNTUK PENDIDIKAN MITIGASI BENCANA DI SEKOLAH DI YOGYAKARTAPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui modal sosial yang digunakan untuk mengatasi bencana dan ketahanan sekolah untuk pendidikan mitigasi bencana dan menggambarkan profil resiliensi sekolah di wilayah Bantul dan Sleman. Penelitian dilakukan di SMA Negeri di wilayah Sleman dan Bantul di, Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah guru dan siswa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara partisipasi aktif, FGD, dokumentasi dan kuesioner. Data dianalisis melalui beberapa tahapan yakni pereduksian data, kategorisasi, interpretasi dan penyajian. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pertama, adanya modal sosial berupa kolaborasi dan norma sosial antara sekolah dan masyarakat; kedua, sekolah di daerah rawan bencana perlu meningkatkan dan reformasi aspek ketahanan sekolah terdiri atas aspek dalam meningkatkan antara sekolah masyarakat, aspek dalam membangun aturan yang jelas dan menjalankan secara konsisten, aspek dalam mengajar keterampilan hidup bagi siswa, peduli dan mendukung aspek dalam mewujudkan harapan dan berkomunikasi diajarkan, dan aspek dalam memberikan kesempatan untuk berpartisipasi.
