Abstract

Staphylococcus aureus is part of the normal flora of the human body and can be found in the oral cavity (both in individuals who use orthodontic equipment), skin, respiratory tract, and digestive tract, as well as in the air and surrounding environment. The mechanism of action of antibacterial compounds includes blocking cell wall formation and affecting integrity. The ability of bacterial cell walls, inhibition of enzyme activity, and failure to combine nucleic acids and proteins are some of the antibacterial mechanisms of lime leaves extracted using essential oil, which have anti-bacterial activity with a minimum bactericidal concentration (KBM) against Staphylococcus aureus of 0.625% v/v and Escherichia coli of 1.25% v/v. Red betel leaf extract at a concentration of 60% showed an inhibitory zone for Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with an average inhibitory zone diameter of 7.96 mm against Staphylococcus aureus with a significant value (P<0.05). The anti-bacterial activity of papaya leaf ethanol extract and this phytochemical test showed that the average diameter of the inhibition zone was 8.24 mm at a concentration of 80%, followed by 8.1 mm at a concentration of 60%, 6.7 mm at a concentration of 40%, 4.96 mm at a concentration of 20%, and 3.92 mm at a concentration of 10%.

Abstract

A study was conducted on creating lip cream products that include calamansi orange peel extract (Citrofortunella microcarpa L.) and beet root extract (Beta vulgaris L.) to assess their efficacy as natural dyes. The aim was to determine if calamansi orange peel extract and beetroot juice can be utilized in lip cream formulations, evaluate the impact of concentration on the physical characteristics, and assess the effectiveness of beetroot as a natural coloring agent. The study employed experimental methods, using extracts at a 4% concentration and juices at concentrations of 25%, 35%, and 45%. Organoleptic tests, pH tests, stability tests, adhesion tests, spreadability tests, and homogeneity tests were performed, and the results were analyzed every 7 days over a 28-day storage period. The findings indicated that the lip cream preparations exhibited favorable organoleptic properties and a suitable pH range of 4.6-6.9. However, they demonstrated poor stability as evidenced by changes in color on the 7th day of storage, although they had good adhesion, spreadability, and homogeneity during storage. The research confirmed that calamansi orange peel extract and beet root extract can be incorporated into lip cream formulations and can influence color characteristics. The change in color of the preparation, from its initial red color to a brownish hue on the 7th day of storage, can possibly be attributed to factors such as temperature, light, oxygen, and pH.

Abstract

Drug procurement planning must consider the type and amount of drug needed, because it can cause excess stock and empty stock. The drug storage system in the Hospital Pharmacy Warehouse is very important in maintaining the quality of drugs. An inappropriate storage process can affect the quality of the preparation This research aimed to determine the description and analysis of expired, dead stock and damaged drugs in the Pharmacy Warehouse of Rumah Sakit Umum (RSU) Hidayah Purwokerto. This research used a qualitative descriptive method. The samples used were all expired drugs, damaged drugs and dead stock in the Pharmacy Warehouse of Rumah Sakit Umum Hidayah Purwokerto in the period January-December 2023 using the 0% indicator. In this research, 343 types of drugs were found consisting of expired drugs of 27.11% and dead stock drugs of 3.5%. This is not in accordance with the established indicators, while the percentage of damaged drugs at RSU Hidayah is 0%, this indicates that there is no stock of damaged drugs at RSU Hidayah, so it is in accordance with the established indicators. The causes of these drugs expiring and dead stock are due to a decrease in the number of patients, differences in doctor's prescribing patterns, a slightly drug stock use, so that the drugs pile up and expire.
