Abstract

Hypertension is a disease that causes high morbidity. Based on the results of the 2018 Basic Health Survey (Riskusdas), the prevalence of hypertension in the Indonesian population aged 18 years and over reached 34.1%. This number has increased compared to the 2013 Riskesdas report. Treatment with antihypertensive drugs is traditionally associated with high costs, and the side effects of these drugs can also cause other diseases if they are not appropriate and treatment is not adhered to. Currently, there are types of medicinal plants that are used to treat various diseases. The aim of this activity is to increase respondents' knowledge regarding preventing increased blood pressure in hypertension sufferers by using medicinal plants. It was found that respondents were very enthusiastic about listening to the material presented by the presenters. Medicinal plants are an alternative way to control blood pressure. Many medicinal plants are effective in lowering blood pressure, one of which is bay leaves.

Abstract

Aging results in a decreased ability of tissues to regenerate, which is a natural and unavoidable process. Physical changes in the elderly often limit their independence in performing daily activities, thus increasing the risk of falls. The aim of this activity is to conduct screening and interventions in the form of education on fall prevention, risk factors for falls, methods of preventing falls, and balance exercises for the elderly. The methods used in this activity include lectures and Q&A sessions. The results showed that 11 elderly participants (43%) were at high risk of falling and 15 elderly participants (57%) were at low risk of falling. Some complaints from the elderly related to the risk of falling include frequent dizziness when getting up from a lying position, difficulty walking due to stiffness/joint pain, and trouble sleeping soundly. To reduce the risk of falls in the elderly, health services that include aspects of prevention, treatment, and collaboration, such as health education and balance exercise assistance, are needed.

Abstract

Stunting is a growth and development disorder in children caused by a chronic lack of nutritious nutritional intake and due to the impact of various recurring infections, which is characterized by the child's length or height being below standard (< -2 SD). This Community Service aims to increase parental knowledge through parenting education activities for parents of children under five as an effort to detect early and prevent stunting. The service method is carried out by carrying out anthropometric measurements on toddlers and providing health education about stunting, including parenting patterns in preventing stunting. The results showed that there were 1 toddlers who were diagnosed with stunting out of 24 toddlers (4.17%). Parents of toddlers who took part in parenting education activities in this activity were very enthusiastic. It appears that out of the 24 parents who attended, 15 people asked about prevention and correct parenting patterns related to stunting toddlers. After this Community Service activity, it is hoped that parents will pay more attention to the nutritional needs of their toddlers, be active in posyandu activities so that if there are related problems, one of which is delayed growth in their children, they can be resolved immediately

Abstract

Stunting has been shown to be associated with increased morbidity and mortality in children, reduced cognitive function, and an increased risk of chronic diseases in adulthood. Stunting is caused by nutrient deficiencies that last for a long time. Low intake of nutrients, especially animal protein, is a factor causing stunting in Indonesia. The family, especially parents, has a very important role in terms of selection and feeding of children. This is to ensure that children get food according to their needs, both in quality and quantity. Therefore, a solution is provided in the form of family nutrition counseling related to stunting prevention with animal protein as an effort to increase knowledge. Counseling is expected to be more optimal by using media in the form of flyers so that the message or material conveyed can be more easily understood by the target group. The target of the service activity is families who have clowns and toddlers in RT 02 Siring Agung Village, Lubuklinggau City as many as 20 families. The target of the activity was very enthusiastic about participating in the implementation of the activity because the materials, methods and media used were interesting. Nutritional counseling to prevent stunting with animal protein in clown mothers and toddlers can help increase knowledge, change attitudes and good nutritional behaviors in preparing and improving the fulfillment of children's nutrition to prevent stunting.

Abstract

Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that develops from breast cells that grow and develop uncontrollably. These cells divide faster than normal cells, accumulate into clusters or masses, and spread to other parts of the body. The high prevalence rate and low public knowledge about breast cancer cause many cases to be found at an advanced stage. Cancer cases that are found early and receive fast and appropriate treatment will provide healing and a longer life expectancy. Prevention efforts are made to increase public awareness in recognizing the symptoms and risks of cancer so that they can determine the right prevention and early detection steps. One of the simplest and cheapest ways is to conduct early detection through Breast Self Examination (BSE). The results of this activity are an increase in knowledge about early detection as an effort to prevent breast cancer through BSE after education is carried out

Abstract

Posyandu (Integrated Health Service Post) is a community-based initiative that supports health development, including the prevention and control of tuberculosis (TB), particularly among vulnerable groups such as mothers and children. This community service program aims to enhance the capacity of Posyandu cadres in the early detection and prevention of TB through a series of activities, including health education sessions, the distribution of pocketbooks, and training in the use of flipcharts. The program was implemented in the working area of Puskesmas Siriwini, Nabire Regency, involving five Posyandu units and 18 active cadres. The implementation method employed a participatory and interactive approach to improve cadres' understanding and skills in identifying TB symptoms and effectively delivering health information to the community. Evaluation results showed a 20% increase in cadres' knowledge based on pre- and post-test assessments. Education-based interventions and the use of visual aids proved effective in strengthening the role of cadres as agents of change within the community, particularly in detecting TB symptoms, providing public education, and breaking the chain of transmission. These findings highlight the importance of empowering Posyandu cadres through continuous training and the need for cross-sectoral support to improve the effectiveness of TB control programs, especially among mothers and children.

Abstract

The assistance provided to mothers in the preparation of meals based on anchovies and red fruits for fulfilling the nutrition of toddlers (24–60 months) and monitoring their growth in relation to weight gain in the working area of Puskesmas Sanoba aims to improve the nutritional status and growth of toddlers. This activity was conducted as a response to the issues of malnutrition and undernutrition still present in the area. Anchovies and red fruits were chosen as highly nutritious food ingredients rich in protein, healthy fats, and vitamins, all of which are essential to support the growth and development of toddlers. The assistance to mothers was carried out through training on preparing nutritious meals using these two ingredients, as well as educating them about the importance of a balanced diet. Furthermore, growth monitoring was conducted to assess the effect of these meals on toddlers' weight gain. The results of the activity indicated an improvement in nutritional status and weight in most of the toddlers who participated in the assistance. Although some toddlers showed slower progress, overall, the program successfully had a positive impact on the fulfillment of nutrition and the growth of children. This assistance also increased mothers' knowledge about the importance of providing nutritious food and raised awareness of their active role in meeting their children's nutritional needs. This program is expected to serve as a model in efforts to improve the nutritional status of toddlers in other areas.

Abstract

: Incomplete immunization can cause morbidity and death due to diseases that should be prevented by immunization (PD3I). This study explores the correlation between maternal health literacy and compliance with basic immunization for children aged 0-11 months in Bontomarannu Community Health Center, Gowa Regency. This study design used a retrospective cross-sectional study for quantitative analysis with a total sample of 87 mothers. Research data was obtained from the results of filling out the HLS–EU–Q16 questionnaire and secondary data related to the completeness of child immunization. Research data was analyzed using the Chi Square test with the help of the SPSS program. The results of the analysis show that there is a significant relationship between health literacy and maternal compliance in providing basic immunizations to children (p-value = 0.000). Mothers with adequate health literacy tend to have high compliance in providing children with basic immunizations. The results of the analysis showed that of the 87 mothers studied, the majority of mothers with inadequate health literacy tended to be incomplete in providing basic immunizations to their children, while of all mothers with adequate health literacy, all provided complete basic immunizations. In conclusion, addressing health literacy is crucial for effective immunization programs.
