Abstract

Child growth issues such as stunting, underweight, wasting, and overweight remain serious health problems in Indonesia. The prevalence of growth issues remains high, with 15.9% being underweight, 8.5% being wasted, and 22.1% being stunted. One factor influencing infant growth is family spending on nutrition and healthcare. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the amount of family expenditure and the growth status of infants aged 6-12 months in Imogiri District, Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. This study was conducted in Imogiri District, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. The sample in this study were mothers with babies aged 6-12 months, totaling 163 respondents and selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through a questionnaire regarding the amount of family expenditure, both food and non-food, each month, and an analysis of infant growth status based on the infant growth status chart in the Child Health Card (KMS) according to weight/age for babies aged 6-12 months in the Maternal and Child Health Book (KIA). The data analysis technique used the Chi-Square test. Based on the Chi-Square Test, it shows a significant relationship between family expenditure and the growth of infants aged 6–12 months (p = 0.015), where infants from high-expenditure families have a 3.27 times greater chance (OR) of experiencing increased growth status. There is a significant relationship between the amount of family expenditure and the growth status of infants aged 6-12 months in Imogiri District.

Abstract

During adolescence, girls experience their first menstruation, known as menarche. The repeated occurrence of menstruation each month establishes the menstrual cycle. Menarche is the first menstrual period experienced by adolescents, and a normal menstrual cycle occurs every 21–35 days. Several factors may contribute to menstrual cycle irregularities, including stress, physical activity, use of hormonal drugs, endocrine disorders, and nutritional status. To analyze the correlation between stress levels and nutritional status with menstrual cycles in final year students of the Faculty of Medicine at Swadaya Gunung Jati University. This study employed an analytical correlational method with a retrospective approach and a cross-sectional design. A purposive sampling technique was used, involving 93 female students. The study was conducted in May 2025. Stress levels were measured using the DASS-42 questionnaire, nutritional status was assessed using the Body Mass Index (BMI), and menstrual cycles were evaluated based on respondents’ menstrual history. Data analysis was performed using Spearman’s correlation test to examine the relationship between variables. The majority of respondents had normal stress levels (68.8%) and normal nutritional status (49.5%), as well as regular menstrual cycles (63.4%). The results of the Spearman test showed a significant relationship between stress levels and menstrual cycle disorders (p = 0.006; r = 0.285) as well as nutritional status with menstrual cycle disorders (p = 0.034; r = 0.22). Multivariate analysis indicated that stress levels is the most influential factor on menstrual cycle disorders (p = <0.001). There is a significant relationship between stress levels and nutritional status with menstrual cycle disorders, with stress levels exerting a greater influence than nutritional status.

Abstract

The digital transformation in this study focused on three digital transformation programs implemented at Brawijaya Army Hospital: online registration services via Mobile JKN, electronic medical records, and free medication delivery services for patients. The results of this study indicate limitations in facilities and infrastructure, human resources, technological infrastructure in digital transformation, and a lack of outreach to patients regarding the digital transformation program at Brawijaya Army Hospital. Therefore, the researcher proposes several solutions to the problems that arise in the digital transformation of healthcare services at Brawijaya Army Hospital. Possible solutions include increasing the budget for improving facilities, infrastructure, and providing an independent counter for online registration via Mobile JKN. Furthermore, innovation is needed, namely creating a website or mobile application that can provide information about electronic medical records that can be accessed by patients independently with guaranteed security regarding patient personal data. Finally, a possible solution is to increase human resources with IT skills and capabilities to overcome problems with medical record servers when they are down or under maintenance and to create a website or mobile application for medical records that can be accessed by patients.

Abstract

The community service activities carried out in Sukalangu Village, Pandeglang Regency, had the main objective of increasing the utilization of local potential through the development of useful and economic herbal products. The potential of herbal plants in this village is quite abundant, but their utilization is still limited to traditional use for household needs. Therefore, a systematic effort is needed to enable the community to process them into products with added value. The implementation method of the activities included counseling on the benefits of herbal plants for health, technical demonstrations of making simple herbal products such as health drinks and traditional potions, and participatory assistance in the production process. The results of the activities showed a significant increase in community knowledge, with a 40% increase in understanding of the types, benefits, and processing methods of herbs. In addition, technical skills in mixing and processing herbs increased by 50% based on pre- and post-training evaluations. Furthermore, community interest and motivation to develop herbal-based businesses also grew, as demonstrated by the formation of small groups of residents who took the initiative to produce herbal products as household businesses. Other impacts that emerged were increased individual capacity, collective awareness to protect and utilize natural potential, and the opening of sustainable local economic opportunities. Overall, this activity makes a real contribution to supporting the independence of village communities through the utilization of local resources based on traditional wisdom.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the leading non-communicable diseases and a major cause of death worldwide. It is often referred to as the silent killer because it rarely shows specific symptoms, leaving many individuals unaware of their condition until serious complications occur. The low level of public knowledge about hypertension is a significant risk factor that contributes to poor prevention and control. Therefore, innovative health education strategies are urgently needed to improve community awareness, one of which is through audio-visual media such as video. This study aimed to determine the effect of audio-visual media (video) in health education on the level of knowledge about hypertension among residents of Cikeusik Village, Wanasalam Subdistrict. The research design applied was quantitative with a quasi-experimental method using a pretest-posttest with control group design. A total of 40 respondents were selected using a purposive sampling technique and divided into two groups: intervention (RT.005) and control (RT.004). The instrument used was a structured hypertension knowledge questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Paired Sample T-Test to compare knowledge before and after the intervention, and the Independent Sample T-Test to compare differences between the intervention and control groups. The results indicated a significant improvement in hypertension knowledge after providing health education through audio-visual media (video) in the intervention group. The Independent Sample T-Test showed a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), confirming that the use of audio-visual media had a positive and significant effect on respondents’ knowledge levels. Conclusion: audio-visual media (video) is proven to be an effective educational tool for improving community knowledge about hypertension and can be recommended as an attractive and easy-to-understand health promotion medium.

Abstract

Sepsis is the most common cause of increased mortality and morbidity. Culture is a gold standard, but it is time-consuming and has a low positive rate. Currently, procalcitonin is a reliable biomarker for diagnosing and predicting sepsis, but the cost is high, and it is not always available in every laboratory facility. Objective: To examine neutrophil-lymphocyte count ratio(NLCR), platelet distribution width(PDW), and Mean Platelet Volume(MPV), which can be used as markers of sepsis compared with Procalcitonin(PCT). Method: This was a cross-sectional study of 40 adult patients who entered the Emergency Department. The study took place from May 2017 to June 2017. All patients had blood samples taken on the first day of treatment. Blood culture is used as the gold standard. PCT, NLRC, PDW, and MPV values were compared between patients with positive and negative blood cultures. Results: of 40 adult patients, 25 had positive blood culture, and 15 had negative results. The performance of PCT, NLRC, PDW, and MPV was significantly higher in patients with positive blood culture compared with the negative consequence AUC=0.915/0.768/0.756/0.733, P=<0.001/0.005/0.012/0.007,respectively).NLCR was found to have a better diagnostic efficiency for predicting sepsis, with greater sensitivity and accuracy than platelet indices. Spearman correlation test showed a significant correlation between NLCR and PCT levels in sepsis patients (rs=0.504; P=0.001). The combination of  NLCR, PDW, and MPV demonstrated a good diagnostic performance (sensitivity 76%, specificity 66,7%), similar to procalcitonin (sensitivity 88%, specificity 66,7%). Conclusion: The increase of NLCR has an opportunity to be an indirect marker of increased PCT levels.  Combining these three parameters could be a marker to distinguish sepsis from non-sepsis.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a non-communicable disease with a globally increasing prevalence, representing a major public health concern in the 21st century. This community service aimed to conduct a diabetes mellitus socialization program to enhance family members’ knowledge about the disease. Limited knowledge among the public often leads to delayed diagnosis, inadequate management, and higher risk of complications. A participatory approach and health education method were applied, emphasizing contextual, sustainable, evidence-based, and gender-sensitive principles. The program involved several stages, including stakeholder coordination, baseline surveys, needs assessment, development and delivery of training materials, and final evaluation. A total of 25 participants from families of diabetes patients at Dr. Sosodoro Djatikoesomo Bojonegoro Hospital took part in the program. Findings revealed that the intervention significantly improved participants’ knowledge, with an average score increase of 25.4 points or 52.7% from the pre-test (p < 0.001). Knowledge distribution shifted positively from a majority in the poor category (68%) to the fair-to-good category (92%). The greatest improvement was found in diabetes complications (36.4 points), followed by diabetes management (34.1 points), and diabetes symptoms (13.6 points). Participants’ satisfaction reached 100%, with 96% reporting being very satisfied. Interactive learning through discussion sessions proved effective in transferring knowledge and correcting misconceptions.
