Abstract

This study examines the role of Islamic Religious Education in shaping the Digital-Religious Character of Vocational High School students in Bandung amidst digital disruption and ethical degradation. Employing a comparative multi-site case study qualitative approach, this research compares two PAI implementation models: the Formal-Regulatory model at SMK Negeri 12 and the Internalization-Transcendental model at SMK Swasta Angkasa. The Formal-Regulatory model, based on government regulations and emphasizing sanctions, tends to produce temporary KDR and compliance-based adherence. Student compliance with digital communication, interaction, and content ethics is vulnerable to not being sustainable outside the school environment. Conversely, the Internalization-Transcendental model, which leverages cultural autonomy and instills the value of muraqabah (awareness of divine omnipresence) as its foundation, proves more effective in fostering intrinsic and sustainable KDR. The awareness of muraqabah strengthens students' Akidah dimension, forms Digital Self-Regulation, and integrates digital ethics as part of worship, manifested in Digital Sobriety and Tabayyun rooted in faith. This study affirms that muraqabah is a critical transversal variable determining the quality of KDR internalization. Theoretically, this study enriches the discourse on PAI, digital ethics, and transcendental character education, particularly highlighting muraqabah as a spiritual foundation for Self-Control. Practically, these findings provide contextual references for the development of value-based and spiritually grounded digital literacy strategies relevant for VHS students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the concept of differentiated learning in the Qur'an based on Ibn Kathir's interpretation. The research method used is qualitative with a thematic interpretation approach. Data were collected through literature studies from the book Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Islamic education literature, and academic references related to the concept of differentiated learning. The results of the study show that, according to Ibn Kathir, these three verses together emphasize that ideal education is education that respects differences, understands individual character, and teaches the truth gently and wisely. The concept of differentiated learning from the perspective of Ibn Kathir's interpretation is based on the principle that every human being possesses unique potential that demands a varied learning approach. Consequently, the Qur'anic values explained by Ibn Kathir are highly relevant to the needs of modern education, confirming that the concept of differentiated learning is not new in Islam but is deeply embedded in the teachings of the Qur'an.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) within the national education system faces structural challenges that are both technical-curricular and ideological-pedagogical. This study analyzes the dynamics of IRE's existence and formulates a synergistic model to strengthen student character development through a Literature Review of 13 selected articles using a Critical Content Analysis lens. Findings reveal that technical challenges include limited instructional time and overlapping values across subjects. Meanwhile, more fundamental ideological challenges stem from the epistemological dichotomy between religious and general sciences and the dominance of transmissive teaching ("banking education"). Consequently, this study proposes the Theme-Based Reciprocal Synergy Model. This model positions IRE and general subjects in a dialogical relationship through cross-subject thematic integration, pedagogical collaboration (team teaching), and holistic character assessment via portfolios. Theoretically, it strengthens the paradigm of knowledge integration, while practically providing an applicable operational framework for character education within the national curriculum by considering teacher administration policy reforms.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the optimization of artificial intelligence (AI) as a learning medium for Islamic Religious Education (IRE) through the use of the Quizizz AI platform at MTs Sunan Kalijaga Senduro, Lumajang Regency. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a field research design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis involving IRE teachers and students of grades VIII and IX. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the use of Quizizz AI as a formative assessment medium enhances the effectiveness of IRE learning evaluation and increases students’ engagement and learning motivation. The platform enables teachers to conduct assessments more efficiently, objectively, and systematically through automated feedback that supports instructional follow-up. However, several challenges were identified, particularly related to teachers’ limited digital literacy and the technical constraints of the internet infrastructure. This study concludes that Quizizz AI has significant potential as an adaptive and innovative assessment medium for Islamic Religious Education in the Society 5.0 era, provided that it is supported by continuous teacher training, supportive madrasa policies, and ethical technology use grounded in Islamic values

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing Problem-Based Learning (PBL) on students’ critical thinking skills and learning outcomes in the Fiqh Ibadah course at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universitas Dharmawangsa. A quasi-experimental approach with a pretest–posttest control group design was employed. The research participants consisted of 45 fourth-semester students divided into an experimental group taught using the PBL model and a control group taught using conventional instructional methods. Research instruments included a critical thinking skills test, a cognitive learning outcomes test, and an observation sheet of learning activities. Data were analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, independent-samples t-tests, and two-way ANOVA with the assistance of SPSS version 26.0. The findings indicate that the implementation of Problem-Based Learning has a statistically significant effect on improving students’ critical thinking skills (p < 0.05) and learning outcomes in the Fiqh Ibadah course (p < 0.05). Furthermore, a significant interaction was found between the learning model and students’ critical thinking skills in influencing learning outcomes. These results demonstrate that PBL not only enhances students’ conceptual understanding but also fosters higher-order thinking abilities, including analytical, reflective, and contextual reasoning in addressing contemporary fiqh issues. Therefore, Problem-Based Learning is recommended as an effective instructional strategy for improving the quality of Islamic education learning in higher education

Abstract

This study aims to analyze polygamy practices and their positive and negative impacts on family life as well as the psychological conditions of wives and children in the community of Paciran District, Lamongan Regency. This research employs a qualitative approach, with a conceptual and case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving polygamy practitioners, community leaders, and related parties. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that polygamy practices in Paciran vary, ranging from open to covert arrangements. Normatively, polygamy is perceived as permissible in Islamic law under strict conditions of justice and financial capability. However, in practice, polygamy tends to generate more negative impacts than positive ones, particularly affecting the psychological well-being of wives and children, including jealousy, emotional instability, domestic conflict, and declining family harmony. Nevertheless, a limited number of families demonstrate relative stability through equitable treatment and effective communication. This study highlights that polygamy requires strong psychological, economic, and moral readiness to prevent broader social and familial harm.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the formation of students’ religious character through the tahfidz Al-Qur’an program at Al-Azhar Islamic Boarding School, Mojowarno, Jombang. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design to gain an in-depth understanding of religious character education within the pesantren context. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, involving the pesantren leader, tahfidz instructors, and students as research participants. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation, while data analysis followed an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that students’ religious character is developed through the integration of religious habituation, exemplary behavior, and consistent discipline in daily pesantren life. The tahfidz Al-Qur’an program plays a significant role in shaping students’ religious character, including discipline, honesty, patience, consistency (istiqamah), and responsibility. Activities such as memorization submission, repetition (muroja’ah), and recitation evaluation (tasmi’) function not only as memorization assessments but also as effective means of internalizing religious values into students’ behavior. This study confirms that the tahfidz Al-Qur’an program serves not merely as a memorization activity but as an effective instrument for religious character education in Islamic boarding schools

Abstract

The strengthening of academic digitalization policies is a process of improving student services through the utilization of digital technology. Student academic activities encompassing learning, research, and academic administration are facilitated by digital platforms to help ensure the quality of graduates. These fundamental needs can transform services for the better, provided that digital infrastructure, specifically internet networks, servers, applications, and data security, is well-established. Conversely, if these basic services fail to meet quality standards, it will result in a decline in student quality. In this context, strengthening policies to undertake digital transformation in order to fulfill student academic services is a timely and strategic breakthrough. This study aims to critically analyze the strengthening of academic digitalization amidst the era of disruption, specifically at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, in enhancing student quality. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study method, where data were obtained through in-depth interviews, documentation studies, and participant observation. The primary data sources consist of institutional documents, particularly those concerning the strengthening of academic digitalization policies. The research results indicate that strengthening academic digitalization policies contributes significantly to maximizing service quality through the implementation of 'new ways of working.' This is achieved through digital innovation for academic and administrative efficiency, accountable budget allocation within the RKAKL to expand service access, and the university's mission to integrate science and Islam across all learning policies and administrative services for students. These findings confirm that leadership policy reinforcement through digital technology can address internal challenges while simultaneously enhancing the competitive quality of UIN graduates in the global arena.
