Abstract

This study aims to analyze the fundamental concepts, principles, and implementation challenges of educational planning through a systematic literature review. Employing qualitative methods with a library research design, this study synthesized 25 academic sources, including journals, textbooks, and policy documents published within the last decade. The analysis reveals that educational planning encompasses systematic processes of needs analysis, goal formulation, priority setting, implementation, and evaluation. Three major approaches—social demand, manpower needs, and rate of return—emphasize equity, relevance, and efficiency, respectively. Four critical aspects (quantitative, qualitative, relevance, and efficiency) must be comprehensively integrated throughout the planning stages. The findings indicate substantial implementation challenges, including limited managerial capacity, insufficient data literacy, weak stakeholder participation, and resource constraints. School Work Plans (RKS/M) often remain administrative documents rather than strategic instruments for institutional improvement. Regional disparities in planning capacity further exacerbate educational inequity between urban and rural areas. Significant gaps persist between theoretical concepts and practical implementation, where planning becomes a mechanistic administrative task rather than a strategic management instrument. This study concludes that effective educational planning requires paradigm transformation toward participatory, evidence-based approaches supported by enhanced capacity building, systematic evaluation mechanisms, and synergistic coordination among central government, regional authorities, and educational institutions to ensure sustainable and equitable national education development.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the quality of Tajwid learning at Nurul Islam Islamic Education Centre (TPA), Penggilingan, East Jakarta, through the use of an innovative learning medium called the Tajwid Exploration Box. The main issue identified was the limited availability of effective tajwid learning media, which resulted in students’ low understanding of Qur’anic recitation rules. This study employed the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The participants involved were 17 individuals, including 13 students and 4 teachers. The effectiveness of the learning media was evaluated using pre-test and post-test scores, N-Gain analysis, and user response questionnaires. The results indicate a significant improvement in tajwid comprehension, with the average score increasing from 57.35 in the pre-test to 81.47 in the post-test, and an N-Gain value of 0.57, categorised as moderate. Furthermore, questionnaire findings revealed highly positive responses from both students and teachers, with an overall satisfaction rate of 93%, particularly in terms of media attractiveness, material usefulness, and learning atmosphere. These findings demonstrate that the Tajwid Exploration Box is an effective interactive learning medium that enhances students’ tajwid understanding while fostering learning motivation and independence. Therefore, this media can serve as an innovative alternative for tajwid instruction in non-formal Qur’anic educational institutions.

Abstract

Madrasah teachers play a strategic role in improving the quality of Islamic education, but in practice they still face challenges such as low professional competence, limited learning innovation, and a lack of effective and sustainable guidance. One effort to overcome these problems is through the implementation of targeted and systematic supervision. This study aims to analyze the concept and implementation of the directive supervision approach in madrasah teacher development and its implications for improving teacher professionalism. The directive approach is considered relevant because it provides clear, structured, and effective guidance to enhance teacher competence and performance continuously. This study uses the library research method with a descriptive qualitative approach, and data were obtained from books, scientific journals, and previous studies. The results show that directive supervision is effective in improving teacher professionalism through structured guidance, mentoring, and evaluation, enabling teachers to become more disciplined, skilled, and focused in carrying out their duties. However, if applied rigidly, this approach may limit teachers’ creativity and initiative. Therefore, directive supervision needs to be combined with collaborative elements so that teacher development becomes more adaptive, participatory, and sustainable.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of educational management of non-formal institutions based on the values of the Qur'an and Hadith and identify relevant management models to improve the effectiveness of institutional management. The background of the research shows that non-formal education has a strategic role, but its management practices still face various obstacles, such as limited human resources, weak planning, and a lack of innovation. This research uses a literature study method by examining accredited journals, research reports, and scientific papers related to non-formal education management and Islamic management perspectives. The analysis was carried out through a content approach to find the main themes that formed the pattern of implementation of Qur'an and Hadith values in the management function. The results of the study show that the values of trust, deliberation, ihsan, and hisbah play an important role in strengthening the functions of planning, organizing, implementing, and supervising in non-formal institutions. The discussion emphasized that the integration of these values is able to answer managerial weaknesses empirically and produce a more effective, participatory, and Islamic management model. This research makes a conceptual contribution to the development of the management of non-formal institutions in Indonesia. In conclusion, management based on the values of the Qur'an and Hadith not only improves the quality of governance of non-formal institutions but also strengthens the character and spirituality of education as a whole.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the utilization of technology and educational innovation in Islamic education from the perspective of Islamic ethics and the challenges of globalization in the digital era. The study employs a qualitative-descriptive approach using library research, drawing on primary Islamic sources, including the Qur’an, Hadith, and classical as well as contemporary tafsir, alongside secondary sources such as academic books and peer-reviewed journal articles. The findings indicate that educational technology exhibits an ambivalent nature. On the one hand, technology enhances learning effectiveness, expands educational access, and enriches instructional methods in Islamic education. On the other hand, the use of technology without a solid Islamic ethical framework may weaken moral development, diminish educators’ role as moral exemplars, and lead to value disorientation among students. This study emphasizes that the integration of Islamic ethical principles such as honesty (ṣidq), responsibility (amānah), and self-restraint (‘iffah) is essential in guiding the use of educational technology. Furthermore, the concept of Islamization of technology is proposed as a strategic approach to ensure that educational innovation does not merely focus on technical efficiency or secular objectives, but remains aligned with the goals of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah. In this context, educational technology is expected to function as a means of strengthening morality, spirituality, and the holistic formation of insan kamil in the digital age.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of empiricism in shaping the modernity of the humanities, particularly in terms of epistemological foundations, methodological practices, and the orientation of research objects. The study is based on the assumption that modern humanities are not entirely detached from scientific traditions, but rather developed through the adaptation of empirical principles within humanistic inquiry. This research employs a qualitative approach using a literature review and historical-conceptual analysis of major empiricist thinkers, such as John Locke, David Hume, and Auguste Comte, as well as relevant works in the philosophy of science and the history of the humanities. The findings indicate that empiricism significantly contributed to shifting the sources of valid knowledge in the humanities from traditional authority and metaphysical speculation toward empirical evidence and primary data. Furthermore, empiricism played an important role in the development of more systematic research methodologies, including source criticism in historiography, structured textual analysis in literary studies, and field-based observation in linguistics. The study also reveals that empiricism encouraged a redefinition of the objects of humanities research, directing scholarly attention toward concrete human experience and socio-historical realities. This study concludes that the modernity of the humanities did not emerge from a rejection of empiricism, but from a creative adaptation of empirical principles integrated with interpretative approaches. The contribution of this research lies in repositioning empiricism as a relevant epistemological foundation for the development of modern humanities.

Abstract

The utilization of natural resources in Islamic law is fundamentally permissible; however, it is neither absolute nor value-free. Such utilization is subject to Sharīʿah principles aimed at safeguarding human well-being and environmental sustainability. This article examines the position of the fiqh maxim lā ḍarar wa lā ḍirār as a normative instrument for determining the permissible limits of natural resource utilization within Islamic law. The study employs a normative legal research method with conceptual and philosophical approaches, analyzing fiqh maxims, maqāṣid al-sharīʿah, and both classical and contemporary literature on Islamic environmental jurisprudence. The findings demonstrate that the maxim lā ḍarar wa lā ḍirār functions not merely as an ethical principle or moral prohibition, but as an operational legal tool capable of determining changes in legal status. Activities related to natural resource utilization that are initially deemed permissible (mubāḥ) may be restricted or prohibited when they are proven, or reasonably expected, to cause significant harm, including ecological degradation, threats to public safety, and long-term environmental impacts of a collective and sustainable nature. This study further emphasizes that the contemporary expansion of the concept of harm encompasses ecological dimensions and future risks, thereby positioning preventive measures as a central principle in Islamic legal reasoning. This article contributes conceptually by positioning the maxim lā ḍarar wa lā ḍirār as a normative parameter in the development of Islamic environmental jurisprudence and as a Sharīʿah-based justification for regulating natural resource utilization in pursuit of public interest and environmental sustainability.

Abstract

Islamic higher education institutions are established not merely as centers for the development of knowledge, but more importantly as institutions aimed at producing young Muslim generations who are committed to practicing Islamic teachings and values. Therefore, the Islamic character of higher education institutions must be strengthened through various strategic efforts, including curriculum development, educational facilities, and institutional reinforcement. This article examines the efforts of Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (UNISSULA) and Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS) in strengthening their Islamic character through the development of Qur’anic literacy. Research data were collected through interviews, documentation, and observations. The findings indicate that the development of Qur’anic literacy has become one of the key strategies for reinforcing the Islamic character of UNISSULA and UNIMUS. This initiative is implemented alongside other measures, such as the formulation of institutional vision, mission, and objectives that explicitly affirm the Islamic identity of both universities, as well as the establishment of specialized institutions tasked with enhancing students’ Islamic knowledge and fostering an Islamic campus culture. The findings indicate that the enhancement of Qur’anic literacy significantly contributes to the improvement of students’ reading and writing skills, comprehension, and internalization of Qur’anic values in their daily lives. Clear institutional structures, adequate resource support, and the integration of academic and religious activities are key factors in the success of these programs. These findings can serve as a reference for other Islamic higher education institutions in designing adaptive and comprehensive Qur’anic literacy programs capable of shaping consistent Islamic character across all dimensions of campus life

Abstract

Leasing is a permissible contract in Islam. However, if the purpose of the lease transaction creates significant dynamics for Islam, research is necessary to determine its legal basis in Islam. This research was conducted in Sidamanik District, Simalungun Regency, where a Muslim, having been unable to find a tenant for his land for a long time, immediately rented it to someone with the intention of establishing a pig farm on the leased land, despite the exorbitant rental price. This led to environmental pollution and health problems for local residents. This research was conducted to determine the actions of Muslim landowners, analyzing the principles of the Lafadz (words of Islamic law) in transactions, specifically regarding the practice of leasing land for pig farming. In the context of Islamic law, the basic principle of the permissibility of muamalah (economic transactions) is exempted when it comes to activities involving prohibited objects, such as pigs. This study aims to analyze the Islamic legal perspective on land leasing for pig farming and its implications for business actors. The research method used is descriptive analysis with a qualitative approach through a literature review of Islamic legal sources, including the Quran, Hadith, and the opinions of scholars. The results indicate that the practice of land leasing for pig farming has generated differing opinions among scholars, with the majority deeming it prohibited based on the prohibition of pork in Islam. This research is expected to contribute to the development of a deeper understanding of muamalah law and its application in the contemporary context, as well as provide guidance for Muslims in conducting economic activities in accordance with Islamic law

Abstract

This article discusses the relevance of the Love Curriculum as a conceptual framework for Islamic education curricula in responding to the moral crisis among students. The moral crisis is characterized by the weakening of ethical behavior, empathy, and social responsibility among students, which is closely related to the dominance of educational practices oriented toward cognitive achievement and academic performance, while affective and spiritual dimensions are not systematically integrated. This study aims to conceptually analyze the position and contribution of the Love Curriculum as an alternative approach to the development of Islamic education curricula grounded in the values of compassion. The research employs a library research approach with a descriptive-analytical design, using academic books and relevant national and international journal articles as data sources. Data analysis was conducted through stages of in-depth reading, data reduction, conceptual categorization, and thematic interpretation of 18 selected key literatures. The findings indicate that the Love Curriculum does not merely function as normative moral reinforcement but is constructed as an integrative curriculum framework based on the principles of rahmah (compassion), role modeling (uswah), and value habituation. The Love Curriculum emphasizes humanistic pedagogical relationships, the creation of a safe and meaningful learning environment, and the systematic internalization of Islamic values within educational goals, learning processes, and school culture. This study contributes theoretically to enriching the discourse on the development of Islamic education curricula that are humanistic, value-oriented, and responsive to students’ moral crises
