Abstract

This study aims to describe the perception of community in Manado City by using qualitative research methods and a phenomenological approach using OVO as digital transaction services. Data were collected through interview techniques with informants and direct observation, and data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results showed that the perception that was studied according to internal factors was through attitudes, motivations, interests, experiences, and expectations. The attitude expressed by the community of Manado City as users is that they feel happier, satisfied, easy, sophisticated, practical, and flexible. The motivation came from an offer of cashback when shopping, the prices given by tenants who work with OVO are cheaper and help the community to reduce direct interaction with people in transactions during the pandemic. The people’s interest came from their desires, the needs of the digital era like today, and encouragement from their family and co-workers. The experience so far is still very good, judging from the attitude of the informants, who are happy, and satisfied with the existence of this OVO digital transaction service. The people expect that OVO can collaborate more with tenants at malls, SMEs, and shopping places that do not yet provide digital transactions, as well as provide an official office in Manado, increase promos, and provide more payment features according to user needs, and educate the people of Manado City to switch to digital transactions.

However, studies investigating recruitment and selection issue remains understudied. Indonesia is known as a contributing country that deploys uniformed personnel as peacekeepers and serves under the banner of the United Nations. Efforts to ensure competent peacekeeping forces can be carried out through an objective recruitment and selection process. By reviewing the literature, this article aims to analyze the improvement of the quality of recruitment and selection of the personnel of the Garuda  Task Force, particularly the Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA). The results show the need to improve the quality of recruitment and selection of TNI personnel starting from the planning stage, vacancy announcement, to the selection stage, which consists of potential screening candidates, and selection interviews. In order to improve the recruitment and selection process, it is necessary to pay attention to the key factors both from the perspective of the employer and the candidate.

Abstract

This research departs from the relationship between religion and culture. Both are different but have a close relationship and complement each other (influence). Leadership is action and behavior (leadership as act and behavior). Meanwhile, there are two sources of human action and behavior, namely religion and culture. Religion and culture have their respective values for humans. Religious values come from God while cultural values come from humans as actors of creation with members of the community. Human actions and behavior arise from the meaning of religious and cultural values. The question is whether leaders in Sundanese society are influenced by religious (Islam) and cultural values (Sundanese culture). This research chooses a study of Nyunda, Islamic (Nyantri) and Nyunda-Islami Leadership in Sundanese Leaders in West Java. This research method uses descriptive-analytic with the aim of getting a comprehensive picture related to the research focus. The results of this research show that religion and culture complement and influence leadership in Sundanese society. Religion and culture underwent a process of acculturation and assimilation, resulting in a dialectic between religious values (Islam) and cultural values (local wisdom), which gave birth to the philosophy or way of life of the Sundanese. One of them is the Sundanese leadership philosophy, namely the integration of religious and cultural values, which gave birth to three leadership characters in Sundanese society, namely (1). The Sundanese Leadership that Nunda. (2). Islamic Sundanese leadership (nyantri). (3). The Sundanese leadership that has both are Nyunda-Islami.

Abstract

This study examines religious tolerance in France from the perspective of Maqasid Shari'a. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The study was conducted in 2019, taking place in France. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation also the informants were selected by purposive sampling and snowball sampling. Data analysis used the critical analysis method through in-depth interviews with religious leaders, organizational leaders associated with inter-religious harmony organizations, community leaders, and youth leaders. This study revealed France's position as a country which ready to accept religious pluralism and guarantees constitutional, historical and factual tolerance among religious believers. However, this encounters several obstacles that arise in the form of radicalism, Islamophobia and unpreparedness for dialogue related to religious issues. From these obstacles, various strategies emerged to create tolerance among religious believers, namely the laicite law, integration policies and supporting religious institutions such as the Conseil Francais du Culte Musulman (CFCM). Some of the French government's strategies turned out to be in line with the dimensions of Hifz al-Din which is one of the goals of Maqasid Shari’a. Hifz al-Din in this context, is interpreted repressively then it becomes haq al-tadayyun (religious rights), where this strategy can guarantee the continuity of religious people to worship and carry out religious values. Haq al-Tadayyun not only maintains the sanctity of religion but also creates a harmonious relationship pattern in practicing religion amidst religious diversity. This research has implications for the emergence of a form of tolerance among religious believers in France, therefore, it can be a policy reference for countries with Muslim majority populations in responding to the dynamics that occur due to religious diversity.

The phenomenon of human trafficking for commercial sexual exploitation has long been developed in various countries, including Southeast Asia, such as Indonesia. Prostitution prevention and handling efforts can be carried out by the government through the formulation of policies or regulations and implemented with a collaboration of various government actors and non-government actors, both national, regional, and local stakeholders. This research aims to study the collaboration model of stakeholders in the perspective of implementation of prostitutional prevention and to handle policy in Surabaya as the closure of Dolly, the largest prostitution area in Southeast Asia. In conclusion, state collaboration with the community in handling prostitution will be a strong root because here will create a synergy together to always supervise and seek mutual solutions in preventing and handling the problem of prostitution, so that can be an example for other local governments in making prevention and handling policies of prostitution in their region. The method used in this research is the experimental method. The first step is a survey to get research subjects. The survey was conducted using the snowball method. Researchers also evaluated several potential groups. Then the process is continued by using a SWOT analysis to determine the best pilot location. Participatory Focus Group Discussion and interviews to deepen the diagnosis. The diagnostic results are developed and compiled manually. This study found that the main causes of prostitution were mostly related to family problems, personal problems, the trauma of sexual harassment, and unemployment. The existence of teenagers who fall into prostitution is a social problem in society. The negative impact is moral degradation. Implications of research to strengthen the Social work profession to prevent prostitution and provide clear and factual information about the reasons why young people may fall into prostitution. This solution should involve both formal and informal institutions.

Abstract

Over the years, Nigerians have been confronted with police brutality and highhandedness. It is becoming a common happenstance to witness extra-judicial killings, disappearance of suspects and detainees from custody, rebellions and revolts among the rank and file, and of course, the usual giving and taking of bribes in all the nooks and crannies of the country wherever a policeman is sighted either at the police stations, checkpoints or public offices. Very few researchers have taken due care to examine the root causes of police malfeasances. A closer look at the state and condition of service of an average Nigerian police officer will reveal that he is working and operating under the  most inhumane and vicious circumstance. The implication of this is that he becomes frustrated, disillusioned, resigns to fate and takes his destiny in his own hands. In his daily conducts, he manifests acts of corruption, lawlessness, violent and aggressive behaviours to the State. Qualitative method of data collection was adopted in this study. Data for the study was generated from secondary sources such as textbooks, journals, newspapers, the internet, etc., while frustration-aggression theory was deployed as the theoretical framework for the study. This research revealed that corruption and other unethical attitudes exhibited by the Nigerian Police Force are a response to the hostile milieu in which they are subjected to. The paper, therefore, recommends that the welfare of the police officers must be prioritized.
