Abstract

Twenty-first-century learning requires students to possess higher-order thinking skills, one of which is scientific reasoning. The low level of students’ scientific reasoning is caused by learning processes that are still teacher-centered, resulting in students being less active in developing scientific thinking skills. This study aimed to determine the improvement of students’ scientific reasoning abilities through the implementation of the guided inquiry learning model. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest–posttest control group design. The research samples were classes X.7 and X.8, selected using purposive sampling techniques. The guided inquiry learning model supported by PowerPoint instructional media was applied in the experimental class during the learning process, while the control class used the discovery learning model. The research instruments consisted of a scientific reasoning test and observation sheets. The results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class reached 88.75%, categorized as scientific reasoning, while the control class reached 69.19%, categorized as moderate scientific reasoning. The N-gain test results indicated that the level of scientific reasoning in the experimental class was in the effective category (0.74), higher than that of the control class (0.60). The data were analyzed using an independent samples t-test, yielding a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05. Thus, the implementation of the guided inquiry learning model was proven to have a significant effect on improving students’ scientific reasoning on virus material.

Abstract

Liquid waste from tofu production and rice washing that is directly discharged without prior treatment causes water pollution that negatively impacts the surrounding environment. Tofu wastewater and rice washing water contain relatively high levels of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K), making them suitable for use as raw materials in the production of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) for celery plants. This study aimed to develop a design of Student Worksheets (LKPD) for the subtopic of Conventional Biotechnology Products for Grade X senior high school through a study on the utilization of LOF in celery using a hydroponic system. This research employed a mixed methods approach with a sequential mixed methods strategy. In the first stage, quantitative research was conducted using an experimental method. The results of the first stage served as the basis for the second stage, which involved a qualitative approach in the form of designing the LKPD for the subtopic of conventional biotechnology products. The experiment used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of five treatments with three replications. The observed parameters included plant height, number of leaves, root length, fresh weight, and dry weight. The results showed that the combination of LOF from tofu wastewater and rice washing water had a significant effect on the growth of celery plants, with the combination treatment of 2.5 liters of tofu wastewater and 2.5 liters of rice washing water identified as the best treatment across all parameters, namely plant height, number of leaves, root length, fresh weight, and dry weight. The research findings were then integrated into the LKPD design and validated by experts as an LKPD that is appropriate for use in teaching conventional biotechnology for Grade X senior high school.

Abstract

This study aims to develop mathematics learning media using Adobe Flash that are practical and effective in improving students’ mathematical reasoning abilities on trigonometry material. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE instructional design model, which consists of the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subjects of this study were eleventh-grade students of MAN 2 Model Medan. The research instruments included teacher and student response questionnaires to measure the practicality of the learning media, as well as tests of students’ mathematical reasoning abilities to determine its effectiveness. The results showed that the practicality of the Adobe Flash-based learning media, based on teacher and student responses after implementation, obtained an average score of 91%, which falls into the “very practical” category. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the media was indicated by the improvement in students’ mathematical reasoning test results, with an achievement percentage of 71%. A t-test analysis demonstrated that the calculated t-value (t_count = 12.96) was greater than the t-table value (t_table = 2.14), indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores. These findings suggest that the Adobe Flash-based mathematics learning media are practical and effective for enhancing students’ mathematical reasoning abilities.

Abstract

The development of the Islamic insurance industry in Indonesia continues to grow as the public becomes more aware of financial products that adhere to Islamic principles. Among the various business sectors within Islamic general insurance, Islamic motor vehicle insurance offers significant potential. This study aims to determine the contribution of Islamic motor vehicle insurance premiums to the total premiums of the Islamic insurance industry in Indonesia and to understand its role within the overall structure of the industry. This study uses a descriptive quantitative method by analyzing secondary data derived from reports from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Indonesian Islamic Insurance Association (AASI).The research results show that Sharia motor vehicle insurance premiums contribute significantly to the Sharia general insurance category, but their contribution to the total premiums of the Sharia insurance industry remains relatively small compared to Sharia life insurance, which dominates the market. This is because Sharia life insurance products are well-known and widely accepted, while Sharia general insurance still has a limited market share. It is hoped that this research will assist stakeholders and industry regulators in designing Sharia motor vehicle insurance development strategies to increase its contribution to the national Sharia insurance industry.

Abstract

Educational equality in Indonesia is regulated by various laws and regulations, with the primary basis being the 1945 Constitution Article 31, which guarantees the right of every citizen to education, and Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System, which is the main legal framework, especially Articles 26 and 27 concerning non-formal education (including equality education). This regulation is strengthened by Government Regulations, such as Government Regulation No. 17 of 2010 and Permendikbudristek, which govern the implementation and recognition of equality education diplomas, thereby ensuring equal access to education for all citizens, including people with disabilities. Education is not only about strengthening students' academic knowledge but also about developing their character, providing broad insights, and addressing behavioral and attitudinal issues. This is what enables and encourages a person to obtain a good, well-directed education. Through education, an individual can develop their personality and progress to the next stage of life. This study aims to analyze the Implementation of the Excellent Program in Improving Inclusive Education Services for Children with Special Needs. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method. Data are collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out interactively through data reduction, data presentation, and the drawing of conclusions. The study results indicate that the implementation of excellent service in this school has been effective, guided by six A6 indicators (Ability, Attitude, Appearance, Attention, Action, and Accountability). Although obstacles remain, including limited teacher training, a lack of accessible facilities, and the absence of structured inclusion service SOPs, inclusion values have been firmly embedded in the school's work culture. The quality of inclusive education services can be assessed using the SERVQUAL model, which comprises tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, empathy, and assurance. In general, schools can provide humane, responsive, and equitable services for students with special needs.

Abstract

The proper use of capital letters in writing short sentences is a basic skill that elementary school students need to master as a foundation for good writing skills. Observations and interviews at SDN 1 Mayong Kidul showed that second-grade students still often have difficulty applying the rules for capital letters at the beginning of sentences, personal names, and place names. This condition is influenced by the teaching materials used, which are still general in nature, lack interactivity, and do not utilize local contexts that are familiar to students' lives. Based on these issues, this study aims to determine the needs of teachers and students for interactive teaching materials based on local wisdom on the subject of capital letters, analyze the effectiveness of available teaching materials, and relate these needs to students' ability to write short sentences correctly. The research used the ADDIE Research and Development (R&D) model, which at this stage focused on needs analysis through interviews and questionnaires with teachers and 27 second-grade students, then analyzed descriptively, qualitatively, and quantitatively. The results showed that 81.48% of students considered the exercises in the textbook to be insufficiently helpful, 70.37% felt that the examples provided were unclear, and 92.59% wanted to learn using local place names and figures; while teachers considered interactive teaching materials necessary to make students more interested, less forgetful, and able to correct their mistakes independently. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a real need for the development of interactive teaching materials based on local wisdom as the basis for the design and development of products to improve students' ability to use capital letters more effectively, meaningfully, and contextually.
