Abstract

Modern education has rapidly advanced in terms of technology, teaching strategies, and assessment frameworks. However, behind this progress lies a concerning humanitarian crisis. The decline of moral principles, loss of social empathy, and growing emphasis on materialism within the learning process indicate a distortion of education’s true purpose. This phenomenon is reflected in schools through cases of bullying, lack of respect for teachers, and intolerance among students. In this context, education should not only focus on academic achievement but also on shaping holistic human character. The philosophy of humanism offers a solution by asserting that humans must be the center of the educational process. Through a humanistic approach, education aims to cultivate self-awareness, empathy, and moral responsibility. Therefore, implementing humanistic values is essential to restore the fundamental purpose of education — humanizing humans and reinforcing universal humanitarian values amid the challenges of modernity.

Abstract

This article explores the Concept of Curriculum Administration in the Perspective of the Qur’an and Hadith as an effort to understand how curriculum management in Islamic education should be grounded in divine values. Curriculum administration is not merely viewed as a technical activity encompassing planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation, but also as a spiritual process oriented toward shaping a holistic human being knowledgeable, faithful, and virtuous. Based on a literature review of primary sources such as the Qur’an and Hadith, as well as contemporary academic references, it is found that the principles of curriculum administration in Islam include the values of tawhid (monotheism), justice, consultation (shura), trust (amanah), and diligence (itqan). These principles serve as the foundation for every stage of curriculum management to align with the goals of Islamic education, namely the realization of insan kamil—the complete human being capable of fulfilling the role of vicegerent (khalifah) on earth. Thus, curriculum administration grounded in divine revelation is expected to produce an educational system that is effective, character-based, and imbued with spiritual value.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and explore: (1) the Islamic education values instilled through religious culture in Grade V of State Elementary School 29 Sedayu, (2) the process of internalizing Islamic education values through religious culture, and (3) the implications of this internalization for students’ religious attitudes and behaviors. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis involved several stages: data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The results revealed that the Islamic education values internalized through religious culture included values of aqidah (faith), sharia (worship and religious practice), and akhlaq (morality). The internalization process was carried out through exemplary behavior, habituation, and reinforcement in various religious activities, such as collective prayer, Qur’an recitation, Friday charity (infaq), and the 5S habits (Smile, Greet, Salute, Polite, and Courteous). This internalization positively influenced students’ religious character, as reflected in their increased discipline in performing prayers, willingness to lead prayers or the call to prayer (adhan), politeness, mutual respect, and the ability to apply Islamic values in daily life.

Abstract

This study explores the strategic role of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers as agents of change in shaping the polite character of students from broken home families at SMP Islam Akhlakul Karimah Sebubus Paloh. The research arises from the phenomenon of declining manners and discipline among students experiencing family dysfunction, which affects their emotional, social, and academic development. The objectives of this study are to describe: (1) the behavioral characteristics of broken home students in the school environment, (2) the role of Islamic Education teachers as agents of change in fostering polite behavior, and (3) the implications of character building through Islamic values on students’ conduct. This research employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing with verification. The validity of the data was tested through source triangulation, technical triangulation, and member checking. The results show that broken home students tend to experience emotional instability, low self-confidence, and difficulty in social interactions. However, through the roles of Islamic Education teachers as educators, mentors, role models, and motivators, students can be guided to develop courteous and respectful behavior. Character building efforts are carried out through exemplary actions, habituation, advice, and personal approaches grounded in Islamic values. This study emphasizes that Islamic Education teachers play a crucial role in internalizing moral and spiritual values to build noble character among students, even those from non-intact family backgrounds.
