Abstract

This comparative analysis explores the economic impacts of sustainable tourism on local communities in Bali and North Sumatra, Indonesia. The study highlights the significance of understanding the specific contexts of these regions and examines the economic benefits, challenges, and policy initiatives related to sustainable tourism development. The research methodology involved a comprehensive literature review and data analysis. The selection criteria for comparative analysis and the variables and indicators used were carefully considered to ensure a comprehensive examination of the economic impacts of sustainable tourism in Bali and North Sumatra. The findings reveal positive economic outcomes in both regions, including job creation, income generation, and support for local businesses. However, Bali exhibits a more significant economic impact with its more developed tourism industry than North Sumatra. This difference can be attributed to factors such as higher tourist influx and better tourism infrastructure in Bali. The comparative analysis also uncovers common challenges locals face in both regions, including infrastructure development, resource management, cultural preservation, community engagement, capacity building, marketing strategies, and equitable distribution of benefits. Addressing these challenges is essential for sustaining the economic benefits of sustainable tourism and ensuring the preservation of natural and cultural resources. In conclusion, this comparative analysis highlights the economic impacts of sustainable tourism in Bali and North Sumatra. It emphasizes the need to address challenges and implement effective policies to maximize economic benefits and ensure a more equitable distribution for local communities.

Abstract

Enforcing hate speech laws in Indonesian politics has posed significant challenges in the past. These challenges have impeded the effective implementation of legal measures designed to address hate speech and ensure a fair and inclusive political environment. One of the key challenges was the need for a clear and comprehensive legal framework. Historically, hate speech laws in Indonesia were criticized for being vague and open to interpretation, leading to inconsistent application and potential bias in enforcement. The absence of specific guidelines and criteria for identifying hate speech hindered the prosecution process. Political pressures and biases also posed significant obstacles to enforcing hate speech laws. The influence of political affiliations and interests often interfered with objective decision-making, leading to selective enforcement or leniency based on political considerations. This compromised the impartiality and independence of the enforcement process. Moreover, limited capacity and training among law enforcement agencies and judicial institutions created further hurdles. There needs to be more understanding of hate speech issues, lack of expertise in investigating and prosecuting such cases, and inadequate resources hampering the effective implementation of hate speech laws. These challenges in enforcing hate speech laws in Indonesian politics have hindered the protection of fundamental rights, fostered polarization, and undermined the inclusive nature of the political discourse. Addressing these challenges requires comprehensive legal reforms, capacity building for law enforcement and judicial institutions, and strategies that effectively tackle hate speech in the digital realm.

Abstract

Due to its potential effects on health, global warming is a pressing environmental problem that has received much attention recently. This qualitative study aims to get experts' perspectives on the science behind global warming and its effects on health. Ten experts in climate change, public health, and environmental science participated in semi-structured interviews to gather the data. A thematic approach was used to analyze the data, which involved coding the data for themes and sub-themes. The examination uncovered that a worldwide temperature alteration is fundamentally brought about by human exercises, especially the outflow of ozone-depleting substances. The effects of a dangerous atmospheric deviation include an expanded commonness of respiratory infections, cardiovascular sicknesses, heat-related diseases, and emotional well-being issues. Additionally, the experts emphasized the disproportionate impact of global warming on vulnerable populations, such as low- income communities, indigenous groups, and developing nations. To relieve the impacts of a worldwide temperature alteration, the specialists recommended a few procedures, including decreasing ozone-depleting substance outflows, advancing energy productivity and environmentally friendly power, executing a green framework, and expanding public mindfulness and training. However, they also acknowledged the difficulties of implementing these strategies, especially in the face of political and economic obstacles. In general, this study offers valuable insights into the science of global warming and the effects it has on health. According to the findings, immediate action is required to address the effects of global warming on health, particularly in vulnerable populations. The study emphasizes the significance of interdisciplinary collaborations and the necessity for policymakers to place public health at the forefront of strategies for reducing the effects of climate change and adapting to it.

We delved into the complex interplay between digital commerce, traditional trade practices, and emerging market trends using empirical data and a rigorous analytical approach. Our research revealed a profound shift in how businesses operate and consumers engage with the marketplace. We found that once considered optional, digital commerce has evolved into an imperative for businesses seeking to remain competitive in the 21st century. This transformation extends beyond adopting online platforms; it encompasses the digitalization of supply chains, data-driven decision-making, and integrating emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain. Furthermore, our findings highlighted the intricate coexistence and convergence of digital and traditional trade practices. Businesses increasingly adopt hybrid models and omnichannel strategies to cater to diverse consumer preferences. This strategic adaptation allows them to leverage the strengths of both digital and traditional methods while remaining agile in response to emerging market trends. Sustainability emerged as a paramount concern, shaping consumer choices and driving businesses to embrace eco-conscious practices. The study underscores the need for businesses to view sustainability not as a mere trend but as a fundamental driver of their strategic decisions. Our research provides valuable insights for businesses, policymakers, and stakeholders navigating this transformative landscape. It contributes to the ongoing discourse on the future of commerce, offering practical implications and a roadmap for strategic decision-making in a world where the digital and traditional realms of business intersect and evolve.
