Abstract

One group that is susceptible to abuse and human rights breaches is migrant laborers. The purpose of this review of the literature is to look at Indonesia's migrant worker protection laws and policies. Drawing from the literature analysis, it is evident that while regulations exist to safeguard migrant workers, inadequate oversight and enforcement are impeding their effective implementation. For migrant worker protection to be effective, regulation, implementation, and monitoring must function together. The study's findings also emphasize how crucial it is for key government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to work together to implement comprehensive policies for the protection of migrant workers. The issues of protecting migrant workers, like stopping unlawful recruitment techniques and safeguarding migrant workers in emergency situations, require effective collaboration. There is an opportunity for Indonesia to strengthen a more progressive legal framework to protect the basic rights of migrant workers. With a better understanding of labor law policies and the protection of migrant workers, Indonesia has the opportunity to improve the conditions and rights of migrant workers in the future. Concrete measures, such as increased supervision of recruitment agencies, providing access to justice for migrant workers, and improving the protection of the basic rights of migrant workers are needed to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of migrant worker protection in Indonesia.

Abstract

One indicator of development success can be seen from the Human Development Index (HDI) which is calculated based on 3 aspects, namely Education, Health and Community Purchasing Power. The biggest hope of development planning is the welfare of the population. Therefore, in determining policies in the form of priority programs and activities in development planning through population development mapping analysis, it is very important to know population dynamics by utilizing population data. Population development information is strategic information and is very much needed for planning population-oriented and sustainable development policies. Population-oriented development means development that is adapted to the potential and conditions of the existing population. This research uses a mixed approach, namely the use of qualitative and quantitative approaches (Blending Quantitative and Qualitative Research) Bryman, 2014. The percentage of population morbidity in Banten Province in 2020 - 2022 continues to experience a downward trend, reaching around 11.38% more low compared to the national level, namely 13.36%. The region with the highest UHH in 2022 is still South Tangerang City, namely 72.78 years, and the lowest is Serang Regency, namely 65.18 years. All districts/cities in Banten Province experienced an increase in terms of population expenditure per capita. The highest value of population expenditure per capita is South Tangerang City, while the lowest is Pandeglang Regency. The poverty rate in Banten Province (6.16 percent) is quite low compared to the national average, namely 9.54 percent. However, the condition of poverty in Banten Province must be addressed immediately because if not, this will become a quite serious threat to Banten Province in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the ethical and juridical dilemmas in the prosecution of mentally ill murderers from the perspective of Islamic Law and Indonesian Positive Law. The ethical debate arises from the need to balance the principles of justice for the victim and compassion for the mentally ill offender. In Islamic Law, mentally ill perpetrators are generally not held fully responsible for their actions and may be granted a reduced or commuted sentence. In contrast, in Indonesian Positive Law, mentally disordered offenders can be exempted from criminal responsibility under Article 44 of Law No. 8 of 1981 on Criminal Procedure, although it is still possible to subject them to other measures such as psychiatric treatment. This study underscores the importance of medical and humanitarian assessments in the prosecution process, as well as the need for a balance between justice for victims and protection of the human rights of mentally ill offenders.

Abstract

This research explores the ethical thinking of two major figures in Islamic philosophy, namely Al-Ghazali and Miskawayh. Al-Ghazali, known for his Sufistic approach, emphasised the importance of a spiritual relationship with God as the basis for achieving a moral life and true happiness. Meanwhile, Miskawayh, who was influenced by Aristotelian thought, offered a more rational view by emphasising balance and the use of reason to form good character and achieve virtue. This study found that although the two had different approaches, both spiritual and rational, they complemented each other and made significant contributions to the development of ethics in the Islamic philosophical tradition.

Abstract

In modern democracies, voter turnout is an important indicator of the health and legitimacy of the system. This research aims to evaluate the government's strategy in increasing voter participation through an in-depth literature review. The results show that inclusive and sustainable voter education can increase people's awareness and understanding of the electoral process and the importance of participation in voting. Voter education is effective in mobilizing younger and underrepresented groups of voters, including women and minorities. Furthermore, strategies to improve accessibility and ease of voting - such as electronic voting technology, more flexible polling location arrangements and the provision of disability-friendly facilities - have been shown to increase voter turnout. Finally, trust in the electoral system is another important factor. The analysis found that transparency of the electoral process and prompt action against indications of fraud can increase public trust, which in turn encourages higher turnout.

Abstract

This study examines how Arnold Wesker presents socialist ideals and critiques social injustices in I’m Talking About Jerusalem (1960). The analysis focuses on how the play reflects Wesker’s vision of a utopian society. It critiques the socio-economic structures that perpetuate inequality and highlights the intersection of personal relationships and political ideology. The play reflects Britain’s cultural shifts during the mid-20th century as it faced the decline of empire and the rise of the welfare state. The study uses close reading to examine themes, dialogue, and character dynamics. This approach explores Wesker’s socialist rhetoric. Secondary literature and historical context provide a comprehensive understanding of the play’s socio-political significance. The study focuses on the tension between utopian dreams and the practical realities faced by the protagonists. The analysis shows how the play critiques systemic inequalities. It highlights the difficulties of realizing socialist ideals within a capitalist framework. Wesker portrays the characters’ struggles as critiques of external societal structures. He also examines their internal battle to align personal lives with political beliefs. The play shows the fragility of utopian dreams in the face of economic struggles, societal resistance, and human limits. However, it maintains an undercurrent of hope. It asserts that collective action and resilience can challenge entrenched injustices. Wesker uses domestic settings and intimate relationships to amplify his socialist message. This makes it both personal and politically powerful. The play explores the connection between political ideology and lived experience. Wesker portrays socialism as a human struggle filled with compromise and persistence. This emphasizes the continued relevance of his work in discussions on justice and equity. The play asserts the value of striving for utopian ideals, despite inevitable obstacles.

Abstract

The philosophical thought of Ibn Sina (Avicenna) contributed greatly to the development of Islamic philosophy by integrating various disciplines such as metaphysics, logic, psychology, and medicine into a systematic framework. His concepts such as “Wujud Wajib” explain the existence of God as an absolute entity, providing an important basis for subsequent philosophers. His influence can be seen in the scientific method that prioritizes reason and empirical observation. Ibn Sina's intellectual legacy connected the Greek tradition of thought with Islamic teachings, had a broad impact on the development of philosophy in both the Islamic world and medieval Europe, and became an important reference for subsequent generations in the pursuit of harmony between science and spirituality.

Abstract

In an era of digital revolution where interconnectivity and globalisation are growing at a rapid pace, innovation in legal management has become a necessity for every organisation to survive in the midst of fierce competition and comply with increasingly complex regulations. Legal departments that used to focus on reactive roles such as dispute resolution and fulfilling minimum obligations are now transforming into more strategic and proactive entities. The implementation of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, data analytics and automation has changed the way law departments work, enabling increased efficiency, reduced costs and a focus on value-added activities. Globalisation and increasing regulatory complexity require law departments to have rapid adaptability and a deep understanding of the laws of various jurisdictions. The role of the legal department has expanded from a mere compliance watchdog to a strategic business partner capable of responding responsively to changing regulations and market dynamics. However, this transformation is faced with obstacles such as internal resistance to change, limited resources, and the challenge of integrating new technology into existing systems. The success of legal management innovation depends on effective strategy, visionary leadership, and appropriate investment in human resources and technology. In conclusion, to achieve effective and innovative legal management, an organisation needs to overcome these constraints through a strategic and progressive approach. By creating an enabling environment for innovation and growth, legal can act as a strategic partner that not only ensures compliance and risk management but also supports the sustainable achievement of business objectives.

Abstract

The success of a project is often caused by the lack of planning and control of a project that is less effective, therefore project completion often experiences delays and costs are increasing. In the practice, the duration of project completion is limited in accordance with the mutually agreed upon agreement so that it is necessary to anticipate changes in conditions that will occur. Project management is needed to manage projects to be more optimal by utilizing CPM and PERT. By comparing CPM (Critical Path Method) and PERT (Project Evaluation and Review Technique) in project scheduling on the construction of Ruko Nakula carried out by PT Artha Wijaya Utama, CPM has a faster project completion duration than PERT. The duration required to finish a project with CPM is 49 weeks while PERT requires a duration of 52 weeks.
